What kind of inter-Mane 6 romance do you think we might see on the show?

Hypothetically. So no posting "No romance ever". This is the hypothetical universe where you can have girls loving girls in a story without tumblr smelling it from miles away, screaming "OMG WLW UWU!", and entering Attack Mode.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to say that we won't see that in the show. Ever. Even if you want to argue that a lesbian relationship could happen on the show, it would not happen within the Mane 6 and it shouldn't. It defeats the purpose of the show.

 

If you were to place this same group together in not a close-knit friendship themed show, and they were changed to have canon orientations in this way as opposed to what we've seen in show...uhhh.....RariJack. As much as I hate shipping, that would be an adorable coupling.

We're never going to get that in the show, most likely, but if we ever got romance in the show, and if we somehow got canon gay romance with the mane 6...I'd never want it to be Inter-mane 6.

 

 I'd be theoretically okay with one of the Mane 6 being confirmed gay and dating another mare, but I'd prefer it be a mare outside of the mane 6 in that case. Why? Because the mane 6 are supposed to be best friends. It's even in the title of the show "Friendship is Magic". The Mane 6 are an example of a really strong and tightly-knit group of friends who truly care about each other, I wouldn't want that to change. Plenty of media as it is already pushes the strength's of romance, I feel like we need more shows like this one that show the equal strength of good friendships.

I highly doubt something like this would happen in the show seeing how the weren't even allowed to have Lyra and Bon Bon become a couple. If this were to happen, I wouldn't want it to involve Rainbow Dash with anyone because that would be perpetuating stereotypes. I also wouldn't want Rarijack to be Canon as the episodes focusing on them too are sooo boring that I don't want anymore of them.

I doubt that they would do it. After all, they have Lyra and Bon Bon as a canon lesbian couple now. However, if for some reason they want to do one, I'd devise it like this.

Rarity is clearly heterosexual, so she won't be part of it.

Applejack would definitely shut off any coming out, but I wouldn't necessarily call her homophobic.

Twilight has Flash Sentry, and even if the EQG movies aren't canon, they simply wouldn't market her as gay with Flash in mind. Her behaviour in a spin-off, even if it's a non-canon one, should at least be parallel to show the show proper, as should her sexuality.

Fluttershy hasn't had a lot in the way of romance, and I wouldn't immediately just say she should be with Discord because he's a boy that hangs out with her, but they seem to have a nice asexual relationship going on, so that's inconclusive for the meantime.

Rainbow Dash continuously turned down Zephyr's flirting in Flutter Brutter, and even if it's just because he's a creep to her, it kinda shows that she isn't into men.

Pinkie Pie is definitely one of the more gay ones in this sort of theory. She's a lot more touchy-feely than the others, and let's not get started on that infamous pose in Pinkie Pride.

I don't think writers would pick romantic pairs the same way they pick starring pairs for episodes, so it's really hard to say. I'd personally be inclined to say AppleDash, but that would all depend on the writers' inclinations, and I simply can't guess what they'd be interested in pairing. Besides, as much as I enjoy AppleDash, I agree that inter-mane six pairings would probably miss the point of the show.

This. Yes. I consider myself a romantic, but at the same time I get tired of how shipping sometimes seems almost mandatory in any fandom, with how fans draw lines by who ships character X with who. If I like two characters that are good friends in canon, then I'm perfectly fine at leaving it at that.

I don't know. I think they are setting Rainbow Dash up to be with Soaren (spelling?) one of the Wonderbolts.

 

I'd actually be a fan of Rarity being a bisexual, but I wouldn't want to see any inter-dating between the mane 6. I think that would deviate from the whole premise of the show, "Friendship is Magic." I'd be all for seeing her date a mare outside the mane group though.

It'll never happen but if it did 95% chance it'd be Rarijack or FlutterDash, their the relationships that've been explored the most, the writers clearly love pairing them up and so it'd take the least build up to get to "romance" from "Friendship".

It'd take the least buildup, but as I said, I'm not sure the writers would favour certain inter-mane six romances for the same reasons which they prefer pairing characters in specific episodes. For RariJack at least I think writer preference for the characters has a lot to do with it, and while I'm obviously biased because I rather dislike that ship, I don't think that necessarily translates to the writers thinking they'd be the best choice as a couple. But then, I can't say that it's much less plausible than any other option.

I don't see the appeal with inter-Mane 6 romances. If they had any sexual attraction for one another, you'd think it would have happened by now. It won't, and for them to just start after six seasons would seem completely forced at this point. It's not worth the writers' time to develop.

These are the only ships that need to happen as far as I'm concerned.

Romance always starts off nice, but can and usually leads to conflicts when both people aren't getting what they want. Whilst the ponies would eventually work it out with their above average skills at dealing with this stuff, I don't think any of them would START a relationship for fears of destroying what they have already}
