My pharmacology teacher will letting our class step outside to view the eclipse. She got a hold of those sepcial glasses but she only managed to get one pair so we'll all have to share XD

Maybe your physics teacher could get one of the pinhole things set up so you can all look at that?

I will have a partial solar eclipse at my location while I'm still in school will be its peak at 1:17pm between 60-70% of the moon blocking the sunlight, but I don't have to look at the sun during the solar eclipse (not without safety glasses as I can go blind for that). I will tell them tomorrow at my school (as well as partially my school district) that we have a solar eclipse and don't look at the sun during the eclipse without safety glasses.

Princess Twilight Sparkle always do legendary stuff with magic in Equestria. Time to blast from the past.

So far it seems like a thin cloud is obscuring the sun slightly. It just appears a bit dimmer than normal.  I can't look directly as I don't have eye protection.  Here in Philly it's supposed to max at 2:41 Eastern Time.

I looked the eclipse up on Google and it gave me a Dutch website that explained when it would happen. It didn't say anywhere that it would be visible in the United States only so I was super disappointed when my mom told me it was. :( The next one isn't visible to us until 2135 if I remember correctly. Rest in peace my chances of ever seeing something cool.

Just saw the partial eclipse through special glasses where I was. The moon was covering the left side of the sun. Also watching the total eclipse via live TV feed. It was great!

This solar eclipse is good luck! I just now received a sign-spinning job to work on the weekends while I go back to Community college on weekdays to further my education that can get me a better job!:D

Hallelujah! Thank Celestia and Luna! (Hey that rhymed!)

A Dragon as big as his love for Disney and has his head in the clouds literally and figuratively

Now clouds have moved in front so it's hard to see directly. But it's just thin enough for a crescent shaped sun to peek through. Cool! :)

While West Virginia wasn't in the direct path of the eclipse, I was able to get some NICE shots of the partial eclipse that I shall share later. :3

Florida (my area) was in the 80% coverage area so the effect was closer to 'civil twilight' levels. Still cool.

So was it technically a "Sci Twi" then? :)

It barely even got dimmer up where I live. Oh well, there will be another one in 2024 that'll go right over me :D. (Of course by that time I'll probably be living somewhere else)

Same here. It did not even feel like any sort of eclipse at all. Oh well 2024 it is I suppose. Hopefully I will be living somewhere else as well... or course I have been saying that for years. :lie:

I got no photos of the partial eclipse itself but I did get this bizarre shot in the shadow of a tree.IMG_20170821_133556.thumb.png.be3d05be2dbf30b1dcc846f357bf2733.png

My area, northern Colorado, only got up to 95% coverage. Still, it was dazzling to watch. I can't wait for 2024. Hopefully then I will be able to travel to a place where I can see the total eclipse. :sunbutt::orly:

Up here in Michigan we got about an 80-85% eclipse. It really was cool.

I was at work but was able to be outside most of the time. We had some of the glasses (legit ones that someone got from someone at NASA), a pinhole box, and I also used a big magnifying glass focusing on a black frying pan. My frying pan idea was the next best thing to the glasses. I was also able to get a picture although I had to use the greatest f-stop, quickest shutter, and sun glasses on the lens and it still was almost overloading the sensor. Luckily there were also some very thin clouds that scooted over which helped.

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

I'm happy with how it turned out! Way better than I thought I would be able to do. The camera is just a 4 year old $170 Canon. I just know how to use it.

The sun usually won't damage camera sensors too easily. I think they just put that out there so people wouldn't accidentally look at the sun, or look at it through an OPTICAL viewfinder.

Here it is from around South Carolina taken through the glasses to reduce glare.

Simply watched a local livestream.

Didn't want to risk my eyes (even with the eclipse-glasses, I was still worried about a stray beam hitting my peripheral (or something)).

 I just thought of this blast from the past that seems relevant for the event.

"And of course you can't become if you only say what you would have done
So I missed a million miles of fun
I know it's up for me
If you steal my sunshine "

Anyone UNDER 20 know this?
