Wait ... "Most ponies don't know the adventures are real"

Um ...

They do now thanks to the published Journal. Whoops. I guess they do know she's real just not the adventures?

I am assuming that eps is non-cannon.  which is sad, given I made a ~sweet apple admirers~ replacement cutie mark all special-like :(

Except this is where Apple Bloom gets the idea for the the camp that is an entire episode in and of itself. They just made a continuity or logic blunder.

Possibly. But she could still have the camp, just needs to retcon the idea as a CMC original one...

Eh, unless they say something's not official, I take it as official. It's really easy for that sort of willful ignorance to become conditioned in one's brain so it spills over into non-entertainment elements of life without you knowing. I would rather accept something as generally wrong and not favorable than to say it doesn't apply. Having that mindset also feels like saying, "I have to jettison the existence of this thing I don't like so my equation balances better." Average episodes or the occasional bad episodes won't impact my overall enjoyment. I'm comfortable enough to dislike something and still say something is good overall.

I just love the cold opening in this episode. I just could sit and watch the banter between Rainbow and Pinkie for a whole episode. :D

Also, the background was scrolling too slowly for the pace of Rainbow and Pinkie's galloping. :)

Spoilers btw because it seems like a lot of people haven't seen it yet. I saw it early I guess. Gotta love Youtube XD

I really like this episode and personally, I found it very relatable. When I was younger, some girl told rumors about me and everyone at that school ended up hating me despite my good intentions, like the townsfolk in Daring Done, so I can understand Daring Do's struggle. Also, I love to read and write so I can understand Rainbow Dash's view point as being the fan that just really wants the new book yet I can also understand Daring Do who is the writer who has lost her confidence. I also really like the return of the villain (and yes I'm going to keep calling him that because his name is way too complex and weird for me to even bother trying to spell). Usually, in these kinds of shows, the villain is defeated by the heroines and that's it. However, in this one, they brought him back to get revenge in a way I wasn't expecting. I honestly did not expect him to be the culprit and thought we were going to be introduced to a new villain because I thought his time was done but nope, he actually came back for revenge. Along with that, the backstory/legend behind why the broken statue was so important was actually really cool and entertaining to watch. I'm glad we're seeing more pony legends pop up after Campfire Tales because, well... while seeing the legends were cool I personally found that episode boring and only found Rarity's story interesting, so I'm glad to see intriguing legends appear in more action packed episodes as well.

So, in conclusion, I actually really liked this episode. I could relate to the struggle, we get a rather clever return of a villain I honestly didn't expect to come back, we got to see yet another legend, it was nice to see an episode with Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash together again, and overall it was an entertaining watch. I'd definitely recommend this episode and overall I give it an 8/10.

I think this episode was not very good, i would even go so far that it was one of the worst this season so far.

I thought that the idea of Daring Do being so thinskinned about a supposed accident that happend, seems a bit contrived to me. I just don't feel like that it really suits her character and is just there for the plot.

The little sidestory serves really no purpose for me, other then having something there to waste 5 minutes of screentime. Again, didn't read the comics, so i don't care. If there is a payoff though, i will overthink it maybe.

Pinkie felt a bit like Pinkie from earlier seasons and a bit more abnoxious then usual. Might just be me but meh.

Also, you can't tell me that these ponies just took the word of a stranger with a hoodie, without actually asking who he is. It just makes these town ponies look stupid.

Sorry, there is just nothing for me in this episode. Thumbs down.

One of the things I wanted to mention earlier was whether Celestia would have allowed the village to go on cursed by eternal night and get swallowed up. As ruler of Equestria, would she have tried to reverse the curse or is she powerless to do so? There is some history for the latter because of what happened with the Crystal Empire. But Sombra's magic is very powerful and it seems like a simple curse just doesn't compare.

Also, looks like we found Grand Pear's long lost brother in the old storyteller. ;)

I am assuming it's like campfire tales - mostly there to set up the Legendary pony tale.

I am always down for more Daring Do episodes, and so getting one this season was something that I looked forward to.

Plus it is always nice to see new locations visited in the series.

I also liked how Pinkie Pie was portrayed in the episode.

Also the legend of Sonebula was my favorite part of the episode.

Gotta say; I adored this episode. It was great to see Daring Do, and I always enjoy seeing the pony version of Belloq as well. The conflict was relatable enough, and the lore was fascinating.

Loved it! :D

Also, I am totally digging those poll options! <3

Yeah. It would have been cool if they tossed the cloak away entirely and said that Cabelleron is actually from the town of Somnambula. Why? Because it switches the roles in that they town would trust one of their own ... they would ... wait for it ... be loyal. This sets up an interesting dynamic of Rainbow Dash having to convince ponies -- who in their mind are practicing her element -- that sometimes blind loyalty can be dangerous. Either that, or good old fashioned cognitive dissonance. This then wraps organically into the leap of faith/hope theme. Missed opportunities abound in this episode.

Shit man, this episode writes itself into a world of good stuff. Not sure why they went the direction they did at times.

I kind of enjoyed this episode, guess we should have more Rainbow and Pinkie since it looks like these two have the best episodes so far also, I sort of wish the ending was sort of like this. Other than that, hope this isn't the last we saw of Darian Grub.... I mean Daring Do.

But the camping parts in that episode where actually amusing and within character.

And you know, that episode also had an odd continuity issue too when you think about it.

My opinion hasn't wavered since last week; a bad piece of writing filled with inconsistencies and everyone written like they're Goddamn idiots with easily solvable solutions to problems. Only thing I liked was the window scene with Pinkie and the backstory to Sandapolis- I mean whatever that town was called.

That part I didn't find contrived. I could see Daring Do not being aware of the damage she caused - like you see in many superhero comics - and only noticing it when the press turned against her. She wasn't feeling bad because of the negative press - she felt bad because she realized she was responsible for a lot of destruction. Also it seems in-character for someone with as much swagger as her to think payment for things like food and respite would be her saving the town. Clearly, the folks who need to make a living on such things didn't think so which is why it was good she made amends in the end.

Now that I've seen the last act again, I still don't like that section at all. The whole act is contrived and the ending is very pat. The only good thing about the last act is that they showed the aforementioned scene of Daring Do making amends for all the damage and skipping out on paying for the stay at the inn.

Dang, perfect episode for the perfect in these times of devastation as we go through not only Hurricane Harvey but now Hurricane Irma. Hope is a very powerful thing and this episode really honed in on that principal. This episode is certainly gonna raise many spirits, especially little girls who've been traumatized by the destruction and power of these natural disasters that have been going on...

It wasn't simply an accident. She caused a lot of damage that helped turn ponies from Somnambula against her. Her destruction of the statue is considered a desecration of her history and town's ancestry. That's why she was very upset, changed her 'do, and chose to retire.

also because the townspeople were being mean and judgmental in a way that completely irritated me (You know what I really wanted to say here). It was on levels equal to the Rarity haters in "Fame and Misfortune".

Neither are close to being the same. In Fame, the Rarity haters denigrated her because they wanted to be shitheads. The townsponies here were angry at Daring for causing property damage, some of which affects their commerce and daily lives. Daring's also at fault for not telling the clerk about Caballeron; that's why she accused Daring of stealing his glowpaz in the first place.

I think Luna would have had the magic to deal with the curse. Is it possible the legend takes place before Celestia's rule I wonder?
