I dont like how Chrysalis revealed herself too soon, not to the characters, but the audience, it ruined what fascinating about changeling: Deception. So what S8 can surprise us, i wonder, they reveal Chrysalis will be main antagonist without any subtlety at all and it look like she will do some voodoo stuffs with the mane 6, but not with Starlight??? Why not Starlight, why not she take the picture of Starlight? After all of this, she still underestimate Starlight?! 

I knew a lot of people can figure out the ep plot with just this vids, so what intriguing me is how they surprise us with this 'predictable' premise that they show us, will there be something MORE than that? Will Chrysalis can even better than Starlight at Revenge? Starlight will save the day by herself or she will be the victim of this ep (i think the second is the better route, i want some Starlight's psychological tortures)

Will Chrysalis make any impact at all because its premiere not finale so it not like she will do some groundbreaking stuffs anyway, she will be defeated and return in finale or everything will be settled in this premiere, reform or not.

I know the show surprise me a lot of time, it would be nice if they do that to me AGAIN. Slap to my face to tell me how dumb i am, writers, i am trying to be a smartass here, prove me wrong.

By a way, that pony (Chrysalis in disguise) is so cute  and she has a bug in her butt... bad bug, bad bug.

OK, do I think Chrysalis will be reformed? Yes. Now, as much as I don't want to, the show is building up towards that, see what happened to Thorax's brother. She is next, I think.

Not sure why Chrysalis didn't think of some kind of infiltration plan sooner. I really think it is neat seeing her once again, but I am not sure I like where the plot is going on it. So she is going to..control the mane 6 I guess? Starlight is going to be the completely obvious hero, and that bothers me a bit. Her being the sole hero is irritating on its own (assuming Thorax and crew doesn't get involved), but to make it that predictable is annoying. Hopefully Thorax has an important role here.

So, She will be returning! I still have no idea what exactly the last 3 episodes of S7 will be about, but knowing that that certain character will be coming back has reinvigorated my fan fiction writing side to potentially do more with my OCs in my head fanon!

Good thing they waited until the S8 premiere to bring her back instead of doing it in the S7 finale and having it feel like it's too soon.

Also, please don't let this be another "Starlight saves the Mane 6" plot. As much as I love Starlight, I would rather see her work WITH the Mane 6 to defeat a villain. Plus, if they keep having the Mane 6 get kidnapped offscreen and be damsels in distress, they won't feel like main characters anymore.

I don't think they'll be kidnapped. If it's anything that could be used to trap and harm the mane six, then obviously she would've done the same to Starlight, or even especially to her. My guess is that the hairs are used for some kind of cloning spell, but probably clones that she can control. Then for whatever scheme that involves copies of the mane six, she may add the personal touch and impersonate Starlight herself.

Probably the best thing to do, if she can't defeat them normally, then she can ruin their standings and reputations through doppelgangers.

Interesting. I'm not that bothered that they reveal the return of 'a certain bug' - the changelings have always been heavily signposted*.

I suppose the natural question is whether she will be reformed or not. I have a policy of not objecting to the reformation of any character (in principle - I will object if it's badly done) and I'm not going to make an exception here, but I also wouldn't mind if she wasn't reformed - I hold 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' as an excellent example of the non-reformation of a major villain^, so if they follow a similar approach then I'd be happy with that.

 

*possibly in the fiction because their very nature of not giving out love means that they can't be nice ponies, although in practice I suspect it's to make it clear to younger viewers

^well, I suppose they might be reformed in 3, but I'd be surprised. And, if they did it well, I'd be impressed too - even after that, I wouldn't object to them being reformed.

To exact revenge on someone properly, you want to take them to their lowest place emotionally. She is either going to turn her friends against her, or make her believe that they turned against her. Take away something she loves and then strike.

The audience's reaction was definitely appropriate given what happened at the end, but at the same time, I think it's obvious as to where it could potentially go. I can foresee either evil duplicates, voodoo, or something completely out there that only Chrysalis herself would consider. In any case, we now know she will show up next season leaving the season seven finale reserved for another antagonist.

Not really... actually quite scared to be honest.

This has all the markings of a repeat of Mirror magic or to where and back again; chrysalis stole all of the mane six's hairs BUT starlight, and basically telegraphed a "I'm doing something to get rid of everyone BUT starlight and she'll end up foiling me!" plot. Basically, it looks like we're getting a scenario where chrysalis uses these hairs and the photos to dispose of the mane six, in order to leave starlight alone to stop her, a issue with her in adventure episodes that's starting to get REALLY grating.

 

Not to mention this makes no freaking SENSE. Chrysalis wants revenge on STARLIGHT, not the mane six; Why the hell is she stealing their hairs instead of starlight's? I mean, it could turn out she's going to make voodoo dolls of the mane six with the hair and then use them to control the six to try and kill starlight, but past that she should be focusing on STARLIGHT as her target given her rant.

So I know everyone Is freaking out about you know who, or doomsdaying about Starlight, but I noticed something. If you remember from the season 8 promo material Hasbro distributed to investors, there was a new building in the background. (I tried to find the original picture of it, but couldn't)

It shows up again in the animatic, looks like that was the building they were all in, and from the sound of it, it looks like Twilight is starting her own school, and her friends are all going to be teachers there. If true, that sounds like an interesting new plot device.

I have a feeling that this a resurrected Castle of the Two sisters, which will have been completed as a result of the season 7 finale.
