general Weird stuff you did as a kid?

So I was reminiscing about the weird things me and my little sister did as kids together. I was wondering about what weird things everyone else did as children as well! 

Here are some things me and my little sister did.

Weird thing #1: We made up a game called "Spanky the Baby". One of us would play the mom and the other would play the baby. The baby is hungry but confused the word "food" for "spanking" so the mom thinks the baby wants a spanking instead of food. So basically, me and my sister would spank each other as baby or mom characters.... 

Weird thing #2: We would stand at the kitchen sink mixing soap, old food, dish water and other things and pretend we were making food for "bad guys" in jail. We called it "bad guy food". 

Weird thing #3: We picked our noses. Instead of eating the boogers, we wiped them on our dad's shoes as revenge for stuff. We were only 3 years old doing that. XD 

There are hundreds more weird things we did but I'll save those for later. lol

I used to watch tv on the couch. Not weird in and of itself, but i always watched it upside down. Doing a headstand.

I barely remember the youngest part of my childhood. Odd to think about it for the first time in so long.

My older sister used to tell me and my younger sister all kinds of tall tales that we believed. Once she made up a story about her friend being sucked into the sidewalk cracks and we spent weeks making up rules to ourselves about how the deadly magic of the sidewalk worked. If stepping on the crack did nothing bad, there must be a certain number of times you're allowed to do it, the tar spots have to be avoided, etc.

I'm sure there was a lot more nonsense like that we got up to

Well back then I was always eating my snot so I would blow my nose with my hand. So yes it's a habit that's sort of stayed with me to this day and it's been sort of locked into place by my allergies to certain types of grass and pollen. So yes it would cause me to have sneezing fits were I sneeze 15-30 times in a row and snot goes everywhere during the fits and often I end up licking it off my hands. Anyways I can't remember anything else from back then that was strange other than that and how I would try to chew on my pram tires when I was 10-16 months old.

According to my mother, I used to tie up my Barbie dolls and hang them around the house on door knobs and stuff.

Not by the neck or anything. If I remember my young self’s brain correctly, I was probably using them as the “damsels in distress” of my little imagination adventures.

Oh, Sweet Luna's Crown, WHERE do I begin...

*sigh*  Okay, here goes... just, uhm... t-t-try not to think of me TOO differently after this... but as a kid, I would:

 

chew my toenails, then chew up the nail & swallow it

grind unpopped popcorn kernels between my teeth

flip a full-sized wooden stool over my head with my feet like a circus performer while I watched TV

eat an ENTIRE gallon jar of blue cheese dressing with crackers at one sitting.  Repeatedly.

hummed to match the pitch of the AC unit's drone

nibbled on aloe leaves from the plant in my backyard (NOT recommended)

hid & ate the whole contents of an entirely brand new tub of paste during the course of a school year (minty!)

painted my fingernails and toenails with White Out

disassembled & reassembled my G.I. Joes in different ways (then gave them new code names)

(sorta) straightened my Slinky (because Egon did it)

peed in my neighbors' bushes, because I thought I could mark territory like a wolf

pick my nose and try to intentionally wipe it on someone else's desk/chair/backpack because it was a chance to practice ninja stealth techniques

play my father's oldies records backwards with my speaker in the window, sharing with the neighborhood

touched every fifth pole I would pass in any given parking lot or storefront

beatbox.  In public.  For no reason other than boredom.

lick my upper lip, then sniff it

hide a box of the darkest dirt I'd ever dug up in my closet because I thought it would be worth more money than light dirt

kept scaring our neighbor by moving his beagle from his backyard to his RV... (that poor guy thought it was the dog somehow doing it by himself)

memorized commercial jingles and tried to actively seek out/create situations I could use them in

tape recorded my relatives doing their own 'commercials' over the phone on my mixtapes

made mixtapes where song lyrics were strung together to make compilation sentences and funny segues

taught myself how to play "The Time Warp" on my keyboard... then learned to play it using all 200 beat styles

gave my hands and arms hickeys, due to idly sucking on my arm while I watched TV

wrapped ice cubes in my shirt, then chewed them up (which RUINS shirts, by the way)

kept my fortune cookie fortunes in my sock drawer, then burned the old fortune whenever I got a new one

believe cigarettes were made of shredded leather

make little stand-ups of paper people in class, then play with them under my desk and eat them when class ended (destroy the evidence!)

carry around an old-timey doctor's bag to hold my textbooks in for school (got a LOT of teasing over that one... but it was ROOMY in there!)

would slip under the bleachers during P.E. to feed ants to the spiders living there

mixed tea, orange juice and milk together and drank the HELL out of it

had a collection of "nifty junk" that I'd found on countless roadsides

had an ENORMOUS keyring, filled with every key I'd ever found that wasn't mine

hid in the round clothing racks at the local K-Mart, then jumped out & scared unsuspecting customers (they banned me after the third incident)

used the pulltabs of soda cans as 'grenade pins', and tried to convince others I had a live grenade in my pocket

swallowed a moth in school for money... a LIVE moth.

pulled the used gum from under my desk and made a golf ball-sized ABC Gumball - which I threw out of a bus window and cracked an oncoming car's windshield with

carried a piece of quartz around with me because I thought it was a moon rock (which, of course, it wasn't)

ate dog biscuits for the SOLE purpose of freaking other people out

I once licked mud off my stroller's wheels, according to my mom. Funny enough, I don't remember doing it, but I do recall the taste.

Also, I loved climbing poles and... you know those swing couches? my uncle's summer house had one. I remember climbing up onto the bar that ran above it (the bar that carried the swing) and hanging off of it, upside-down, like a bat. Perhaps my OC should've been a batpony instead, but they hadn't been introduced yet, unfortunately.

I've always have a generous liking for plants when I was young. While most other kids have toys, I insteaded to rather have an assortment of plants which I can take care of and grow. One plant at my windowsill, one in the bathroom, another in the living room. Pretty much everywhere to the point where I was literally living with my plants and it also got pretty messy too with the constant soil and watering cans.

There was one time when I was trying to grow a banana tree indoors in a container. I took it to the bathroom and put it near the tub whenever each time I take a bath to mimic the tropical humidity typically associated to where it grows naturally. It wasn't long until my Mom had notice my strange-doings and eventually the tree outgrew me enough to prevent me from carrying it comfortably. Pretty weird... and actually, I'm still pretty much like that even today. Well..not as weird but I'm still learning and taking my consideration for my initial liking and care of plants.

I have a pet cactus that is about 3.8 inches tall, to be honest. I named him Mitch. x3

Well, I certainly thank you for making me addicted to the drug known as notsalgia, again. Thought we broke apart, but you just had to remind me of my childhood.

As a child, I remember doing many random things, some would call them weird, others childish, others sad. I did have fun though! So, tighten your seatbelt, because we are going to a trip through some key moments of my childhood.

 • I always loved bicycling, I never knew why, but I can remember myself riding one fairly frequently. The thing is that I sucked at driving it. Not only had I injured myself trying to steer it, but I also remember just weird moments were I crashed unexpectedly. Key moment is that one time, I fell next to a broken scotch bottle. Good thing that I missed it for a decimetre or two or I would be going home with a lot of stitches and a lot of trauma.

 • I used to have this ever-expanding love for zebras when I was 7 or 8 years old. I blame the Madagascar movies for doing this to me. Now, I have exchanged my love for zebras with my love for ponies. I guess, equines were always something I found intrguing? 

 • Lastly, I just have to talk about. I spent a lot of years collecting cards and video games based on it. It was a big and important part of my childhood. Even to this day, I remember which Pokemon is my favourite (granted I still play the games), that is Shuppet by the way.

I have vivid memories of me being a little escape artist when I was a toddler. One time I disappeared into the woods out back where I used to live. After making it through the woods, I went up to a random stranger's door and said "I'm thirsty". I got a free glass of water and a free ride in a police car that day. Second time, I was home alone (makes me raise an eyebrow in hindsight considering my age) and used the drawers of the dresser in the sitting room to create a makeshift staircase up to the window before pulling my bunk bed ladder downstairs and putting it outside the sitting room window so that I could climb safely down onto the front lawn. The neighbour caught me and my escape attempt was foiled. Third time, I rode a three wheeled bike that was in the shape of a plastic motorcycle and got a good couple of miles away from the house before my dad spotted me when he was driving home in the opposite direction. To his final days on this Earth he still had no idea how I had managed to get so far from the house.

Later on in my single digit years, I developed a liking for being naked and would spontaneously shed my clothes and run around naked. Even to the point of standing in open windows and waving at passersby. At the time I didn't feel I was doing anything wrong.

Other times, out in the garden, I would move my plastic slide in front my dad's apple tree and climb up the slope of the slide to take a random apple. I would take a bite out of an apple and then just leave it. In hindsight, I don't know why I didn't use the stairs on the slide to get up to the tree.

I used to be a proud owner of a skateboard. However, I would use it as a luge or bobsleigh.

I used to also smash windows of abandoned buildings to hear the breaky noises of the glass. I also once did this on a construction site without actually realising the damage I was doing. The fact that they were trying to build houses there was completly lost on my inncoent childish brain at the time. Nobody ever found out it was me.

There's also a game I play to this day. The wax from one of those little baby bel edam cheeses. I like to heat the wax in the palm of my hands, roll it into a ball and throw it at a wall to watch it stick. Cheese and a game all in one.
