I'm too dang lazy to see if this thread has already been made, and if it has I hope the two merge. I feel this is necessary, though.

Any kind of jazz is accepted. Modern, smooth, big band, swing, dixieland, latin, rock, etc.

I'll start off with the if-you-haven't-heard-this-you're-on-the-wrong-thread piece.

I'm pretty cool. I think.

Also, new OC (it has a cutie mark this time!).

After classical music, my favorite genre. I'm quite inspired by the stride piano of James P. Johnson and Fats Waller, and folks like Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, and of course Art Tatum are awesome too.

Yeah, and I always feel energized when listening to some good New Orleans/Dixieland band stylings. Someday I got to get into the more recent things too, any recommendations?

I don't like jazz that much. This, though, is pretty nice:

It's kind of a jazz-metal fusion, and I really love it.

Eh, I like jazz, but not in a "I'm bored, let's listen to jazz!" kind of way. I think it's a great way to learn scales/chords/strange time signatures for guitar.

My guitar teacher has an awesome Fake Book. But that's illegal, so I only have a Real Fake Book.

Your taste in music is quite good I must say. Electro-Swing and now Jazz?

Time for some Scat by Ella Fitzgerald!

this is freakin' fantastic. I love the stuff she did with Pops. Scat was really one of the things that ended up revolutionizing music as we know it.

A little thing from NPR I found a while back. Japanese jazz. really interesting stuff.

The guy mixed the Japanese bamboo flute (shakuhachi) with jazz and the results are just fantastic.

This vid is just one of his pieces. There are a bunch more on the link above.

Ahh, Jazz. One of my favorite genres despite not having a lot of it. If only Shawn Lane were still around today.

Luckily I have some Weather Report as well. Classic track which Shawn Lane also did an excellent cover of:

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

It's a genre that I have not gotten into as much as I'd like to. Regardless, there are a few I LOVE.

That one is AWESOME. However, I have to say that I mostly listen to classic rock that is heavily influenced by jazz. That is my favorite style of rock, in fact. Here's a song I recently discovered:

Here's an interesting one.

Sun Ra claimed to be an alien from Saturn sent to spread peace through music. He called his group the "Arkestra" and pioneered the use of electric keyboards in music. His music was meant to be very eccentric and "spacey" as the music he made was called "space jazz."

Jazz isn't a go-to genre of mine, but this one piece of smooth jazz that they had in Portal 2 always has me kicking back and enjoying. Smooth enough to use as a snooker ball!

Funny thing is that I probably love listening to music that is heavily inspired by jazz than I do jazz itself, but I still love jazz...

Especially this:
