What makes you calm, relaxed, or happy?

Music relaxes me a lot, just calm, long music gives me a great feeling. Besides that I sometimes listen to recordings of wildlife and birds, when I close my eyes it feels like I'm in a forest or lying on grass somewhere relaxing.

But there's one thing that relaxes me completely, it's called ASMR, it's relaxing noises while a person talks you into induced trance. Great for lucid dreaming too.

What calms the mighty storm of rage?

- Sometimes I channel my anger into gaming or use gaming as a tool to help me relax. For instance, I would play animal crossing or rhythm heaven fever to relax and something like ninja gaiden or touhou when I want to use my rage on something challenging.

- Self reflection and a little time. Rational thought and time is one of my more effective methods to calming myself from an angry state, it just takes a while before I get to the point where I start doing those things.

- Watching MLP for me is oddly a very calming experience.

- Listening to classical music or music played from a pan flute (possibly the most relaxing instrument.)

- Playing music on my clarinet.

Lessee...

Oddly enough, I don't find rain to be that relaxing. It's white noise, sure, but that sort of thing doesn't really do it for me. Instead, I find the wind to be more relaxing. Watching the trees and clouds move and rustle is nice to watch, I guess.

For music, it really depends on the track, but I like most ambient stuff, or stuff from video game soundtracks. Metroid Prime and Skyrim stick out the most, for example.

The quiet of night. Everything still...it sort of wills me to be still and calm with it.

Playing Bejeweled 3's Zen mode. After a while, it becomes less of me matching the gems and more of me having a nice philosophizing session about random topics in my head. That, and I start to see gem patterns in my mind's eye if I play enough. Last summer, I was playing so much that my "mind boards," so to speak, were developed out to two moves after the original setup. It was certainly strange, but it took my mind off anything else.

I was actually thinking about asking this exact question, but it seems I was beaten to it by a few days   :P .

  So, what calms me down...

  - Exercising/ playing sports.

  - Playing/ listening to music.

  - Drawing.

  - Watching MLP.

  - Hugging my dragon plushie, which actually really helps when I feel stressed etc...

  - Going outside and walking around for a bit.

  • Water. I have felt a deep connection to water for some time now. Whether it be a fountain, the ocean, dew, or a raindrop, it is absolutely beautiful, and fills me with a tranquility that I cannot quite explain.

Stormy weather. To be more precise, rain, wind, and thunder.

Watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, or listening to MLP music.

Listening to gentle, beautiful music.

Reading something that is interesting, and not stressful, or excessively violent/scary.

A lot of the stuff on this YouTube channel. I also use the stuff on that channel to get to sleep when I can't fall asleep quickly. The Meditations in Middle-Earth series in particular is highly recommended.

When I'm angry I allow video games to calm me, but anything else, hail is a big one and then there is being cold. Being cold just makes me happy in general. That's why I normally am chilling near an AC unit.                                                 EDIT: When I say I like the cold I'm talking from zero to thirty-two degrees farenheit.

I just thought of another: hiking. I just came back from hiking, and I must say that it was one of the more relaxing experiences I've had this year. I love the smell of silt and clay mixed with water. Combined with the birdsong and the sound of the gentle breeze by the river. It's just a magical experience that can never be captured, nor replicated. Something that was really cool was that a group of yellow butterflies kept on following me throughout my time in the woods.

I'm mostly bored and currious but guys, when you are stressed out, what do you like to do to relax or what do you find to be relaxing for you when you're stressed out?

When I'm stressed I like to either take a long hot bath or watch Bob Ross do one of his paining on youtube. Yes it does sound stange but watching someone paint is relaxing for me :D

I don't stress very often. Even in stressful situations I don't let myself get stressed. There's no real point to it and far more productive things to do than stew on a situation.

I rarely get stressed out, but when I do I like to lay down and relax. A good nap, or some good music can always pull me out of one of my rare bad moods. Also, the laughter of you and your friends is a good medicine for most emotional problems.

id simply turn on my ps3 insert CoD:MW3 put my microphone on and start yelling at people for killing me or just go around and troll people, therefore transferring my stress to them.

When I get stressed, having a nice hot shower or listening to my music can sometimes calm me down. When it doesn't, my final solution to stress is to simply close my eyes with my music quietly playing in the background and take a brief power nap in my chair.
