Don't wait for mine... I decided not to participate. I would've loved to, but I didn't want to risk being in a video with inappropriate content in it. Also, I watched the episode without recording it, so... Yeah.

As for activity... @~Chaotic Discord~ is officially in charge of this project, so something must have happened if he isn't keeping up with the thread. Sorry about that - the project has most definitely not been scrapped!

Nothing at all has happened with the activity, and I have been keeping up with the thread. All that's left/all that's going on is people asking technical questions about uploading and dealing with their videos, something of which I can't really be of any help with in comparison to you and Scootacool. I'm still in on this, and I'm still sitting and waiting to talk with you two if and when you need me to do more, but again, at this point in the project I can no longer lead it, because I'm not the expert on the technical front, you guys are.

 

That said, Scoots is giving me a list tomorrow of everyone that has given their videos thus far. I will be quoting everybody who isn't on that list, and asking them when they think they'll be able to give their entry. Remember peeps, this is not a luxury 'eh, I'll do it whenever', asap if possible is preferred.

Hello everyone, we now have a completely bulletproof solution for file uploads. My apologies for the delay in getting this finished, large file uploads are a sometimes tricky problem to deal with online.

 

Basically, the file uploader that we had at first was, due to some hidden technological inefficiencies not really suited for extremely large file sizes. The solution to this is to use a completely different file upload solution. We are going to use FTP. The FTP protocol is probably the single most reliable file transfer protocol on the Internet today, so this should make things seamlessly easy to work with.

 

If you have used the old uploader in the past without receiving an error, then you should be fine. If it gave you problems, then use this new method - it is basically guaranteed to work. Without further ado, here are the new instructions:

 

First of all, make sure that your file or files have your username in them. This will let us easily figure out which video belongs to which user. Second, follow one of these sets of instructions (and open a trouble ticket to let me know if something doesn't work, I will be standing by):

 

I recommend using a dedicated FTP client

 

1. Download and install FileZilla http://filezilla-pro...php?type=client

2. Enter ftp.mlpforums.com as the address

3. Double click the "incoming" folder

4. Drag your file(s) into the window

5. Wait for them to upload

6. Mission complete

 

Failing that, these instructions are good for IE 8

 

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Go to ftp://ftp.mlpforums.com/incoming/

3. Press the alt key

4. Click "view" in the menu

5. Click "Open FTP Site in File Explorer"

6. Drag your file(s) into the window

7. Wait for them to upload

8. Mission complete

Have you tried the FTP method that I suggested above? It seems to be working well for a few folks. So far, so smoothly.

Well, you simply need to drag your video files into the ftp window. You aren't supposed to download anything from the FTP server.

Well, tomorrow morning I am actually going to download and verify every single file on the server right now. I am fairly certain that your files were uploaded without any problems though, but me and Discord (that sounds weird) will sort through everything in more detail tomorrow.

Well, you simply need to drag your video files into the ftp window. You aren't supposed to download anything from the FTP server.

AH HA! I FIGURED IT OUT YIPPEEE! It wasn't working originally cause I had a space in the file name and spaces aren't ASCII approved Success! It's going super slow but it will all be good soon!

I just discovered this topic... and I want to do a reaction video lol.

 

Can someone just tell me what to do real quick, like share with me how long the video should be, if it's a reaction immediately after watching the episodes or while watching the episodes, just technical stuff so my video doesn't look stupid because it's not like the others.

So, here's the jist of it. If you're NOT on that list somewhere, and aren't one of the three people who made those unknown videos, you really need to either:

A: Move your flank and get this done. If you've already seen the episode and this can no longer be a 'raw' footage react because of it, fine, but just do your best to follow the reaction layout best you can, and maybe even act like you haven't seen it before or something if you feel inclined.

B: Resign from doing this so I can remove you from the list. If you've stated this earlier in the thread and you haven't been removed, please take two seconds to say so again so we can be clear, and so that I don't have to go spend ten minutes hunting through the thread.

C: Work with the Techponies if you're having issues with uploading, so we can get it done. Contact Feld0 and Scoots via Support Tickets. Use the 'MLPForums Reacts - Problems & Questions' category.

How did you all get such small file sizes? Even after compression, I ended up with 84 separate files.

 

And with the upload issues I've been experiencing, I'm to the point where I want to dump it all on flash drives and hurl them at passersby, screaming incoherently about file sizes, Kbs and time out errors.

My excitement lvl just increased by approximately 20%. I am very excited yes yes I am, I wasn't sure the footage uploaded since it was taking forever to upload I went to sleep while it was going and then I woke up and it was like merrrrrp I timed out sry lol. Glad to hear things worked out well

There is one support ticket on your account, #647, which you received a detailed reply to (including several screenshots) at 4:14 PM PST yesterday. Please follow up on it - we are most definitely keeping close track of tickets and doing everything we can to personally help everyone through the process.

We can accept uncompressed videos... it was made clear, actually, that not compressing your video before upload is preferable. Maybe use an undelete tool?
