im fairly certain ive already posted here before, BUT i love me some sappy romance xD

im a flutter mac fan, Yes they're very similar, but still different enough to work.  Both of them have very intense nurturing/caring instincts--but they manifest in very different ways.  Flutters would be kind of smothering, but Big Mac i think could step back and let someone grow on their own.  I think too, that it would help each of them to overcome their shyness if they found comradery in that.  i think its also a pleasant contrast to have the masculinity that Big Mac classically portrays next to the delicate femininity of Fluttershy.

 

Annnddd Tex and AJ xD i really really want him to come back, but im really really afraid theyll screw it up and make me hate him. xD

Most of the time, I'm rather indifferent to shipping, likely due to how I have a lack interest in having one myself, among other factors. I have however developed a few of them that I very much support, and enjoy seeing artworks and headcanons of.

Why I like it: Dash and Soarin both have very complimenting color schemes when compared to one another, so from a visual standpoint, I just love looking at artwork of them. They're both uirky and goofy in their own way, and they're both free-spirits. To top it all off, they've gained a great amount of screen time with one another in Rainbow Falls (about the only good thing that came out of that episode </3).
 

Why I feel it works: SoarinDash is one of the very few canon shippings I could see working, 100%. Soarin is handsome, goofy, well-meaning, very accomplished, and is an athlete to mirror Dash. He's friendly and laid-back enough to have fun as well as compete, and if hanging around Spitfire and Fleetfoot constantly for years hasn't made him more than qualified to deal with Dash's bravado and arrogance, I don't know what would. I see him being the perfect play partner for when Dash is in a great mood, and the modest voice of reason there to extinguish the flames spouting from her ears when she's raging.

Hmm.  A couple folks have mentioned RariJack.  In terms of the personalities, I could see it.  You know, the opposites attract thing.  However, one problem:  We know that Rarity is hetero.  That's cannon.  That's why I can't picture RariJack.  Well, I guess technically all we know is that she is attracted to stallions.  That's it.  Which means she could be bi.  Seems a little far-fetched to me, but possible, I guess.

 

I have always supported shipping in general, but the only ones that I personally really like are TwiDash and AppleDash.  I could really imagine either one being canon.

Sparity, specifically when the both of them are older: Unicorn X Dragon relationships are so fetch. I find the idea of Spike eventually winning over his adolescent crush through sheer devotion while Rarity gets the adoring gentleman she's been looking for (but in the weirdest possible place) to be really endearing.

 

TimeBubbles, assuming Time Turner is the Doctor and Derpy is his part-time companion: I look at it as a couple that brings out the best in each other. Derpy, who's regarded by most of everyone as a buffoon at worst and just a silly pony at best, falls hard for someone who tells her she's capable of great things and gives her the chance to do so, all while impressing her with his dashing heroics and great hair. The Doctor, an alien who's grown somewhat distant and selfish, grows to appreciate someone who challenges his assumptions and arrogance and provides the friendship he needs, all while just having a really chipper attitude about the whole thing.

Or the forsaken princess becomes teacher to the rejected student,  shaping her to be the ultimate weapon to seek their revenge on the one who crossed them both, all the while discovering that she may care for her pupil more than she once thought.

Got this from the story, To Wub A Princess, where Mi Amore mistakenly gets it on w/ Vinyl cause she looks so much like her husband. It's kinda funny. The wife gets it on w/ the DJ behind the husbands back. Heck, these two have a more opposites attract factor then OcttaviScratch. Ones the embodiment of love and Empress of the Crystal ponies, the other is a wild partying DJ.

Yeah Yeah I know, It's a G3 romance, but it's one that can work.  In the show, Star Catcher appeared to Sky Wishes to help grant Sky's wish for her friends, but they kept their relationship a secret from eachothers friends. That in of itself sounds kinda romantic.

Alright, fair enough.  I guess I should have read the OP more carefully.  I'm spoze da provide an image and explanation as to why I feel it works.  Ok, let's see...

 

AppleDash

First off, I've always imagined Rainbow being gay.  Now, just because she's tough/tomboyish certainly doesn't mean she has to be gay, but that's just what I've always pictured.  Personally, I just like imagining her that way.  I could picture the same for AJ.  I think this ship is a case of like personalities attracting.  Maybe it's not something that can be clearly defined, but I think they would have great chemistry.  I like the idea that their personalities clash a bit and they butt heads because they're so similar, as in Fall Weather Friends, but eventually they would see that they're perfect for each other and it would shift to something romantic when they're older.  I just find this idea very endearing.  I think it was best described in The Circle of Friends fic.

Of the rest of the six, I could imagine Twi being gay the most.  Not really the other three, though.  This one would be more of a case of opposites attracting.  The brainiac and the athlete.  Not sure if I can really explain this chemistry, but I just think it's perfect.  I think I really started picturing this after Reed it and Weep.  Rainbow found out that she loves reading, and learned to embrace that side of herself, and now she and Twi have their special reading time together.  Quick tangent--I love how, within the whole network of six friends, we have individual pairings due to a special connections.  E.g. RD and Fluttershy, friends since childood, grew up and went to flight camp together, Rarity and Fluttershy, the most feminine and have their special spa time together, RD and Pinkie with their pranking and practical jokes, etc.  I love the co-star episodes that focus on developing a special connection between two of them.  And after Reed it and Weep, there's now a special connection between RD and Twi.  I just imagine taking that connection much further.  Beneath her tough exterior, Rainbow would begin to realize she has a softer side, and a deep attraction to Twi's intellect, though she would have trouble expressing it at first.  And likewise, in contrast to her intellectual nature, Twi would begin to embrace a more raw, emotional side to herself, a side that's attracted to Rainbow's stunning strength and shape.  Twi would help Rainbow to be able to articulate her thoughts and express her true feelings, and Rainbow would help to Twi to loosen up and ignore her logic.  Each would bring out the other sides of one another, and together they would be one and find each other...irresistable.  Mercy me, is it getting hot in here?
