Speaking of holding things, where did Lyra's fascination with hands come from?

I know abou the sitting on benches thing but, how did Lyra's interest in hands become a defining character trait amongst members of the fandom?

@Sparklefan1234 Probably inspired by the Anthropology song, which was inspired by the fanfic. I have no idea what the fanfic was inspired by.

Thank you for explaining that. Lyra's interest in hands was the one aspect of the fan interpretation of Lyra's character that I never fully understood.
