its true Rarity hasnt had much of a role lately i hope she gets an episode before the seasons over

Judging by the last four episode synopsis' the prospect of that dream is low. Although I am exited to how she'll DESTROY Gabby Gums in the upcoming episode ^_^

I have started taking a liking for Rarity. She didn't use to be on my top 3 of favorite ponies ever. But, now she is right up there with Rainbow Dash and Applejack. She is one of the kindest ponies you could ever meet and has an unbelievable sense of fashion. So, I gotta give Props to the most stylish Pony in all of Ponyville. I love ya Rarity.

Rarity's been an interesting pony for me. When I first saw her, I somewhat rolled my eyes, assuming that this would be the "girly" pony with whom Hasbro would try to market the most merchandise. But after a season and a half of MLP: FIM, my opinion of her has completely changed. Yes, Rarity certainly is the most feminine, prim, proper, and lady-like of the Mane 6, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. Really, it's actually fantastic that the show's producers have included a character like her at all; they could've easily made the mistake of simply trying to appeal to this supposedly more "boyish" demographic of modern young girls by having only tomboyish main characters like Applejack or Rainbow Dash, or bookish characters like Twilight (all of whom are still fantastic). But by having a character like Rarity, the show's producers sent a clear statement that it is just as acceptable to be lady-like and genteel as it is to be sporty, tomboyish, or bookish, and I admire that. Some feminists routinely criticize "lady-like" women of not being headstrong or independent, but Rarity show's that that ridiculous assumption is far from the truth. Heck, the episode "A Dog and Pony Show" directly addressed that specific critique, showing that Rarity, or any genteel lady, is more than capable of taking care of themselves.

But I'm getting side-tracked; it's time to address what aspects of Rarity's character I like the most. First and foremost, her generosity; this particular trait first really stuck out to me in the episode "Suited for Success." When I saw Rarity offer to make five custom-designed dresses, for free, for each of her friends, frankly, my jaw dropped. This pony is, as we've seen time and time again, quite the busy pony; she owns her own dress shop, which she operates by herself, happens to be the only designer in Ponyville, and frequently has to complete many orders not just for Ponyville, but for ponies all over Equestria! Heck, along with Applejack, Rarity probably works harder than any of the Mane 6! And she was willing to design five dresses for each of her friends for free!?!? That stunning act of kindness and generosity really struck me, along with her concern for ensuring that each dress was just perfect for her friends, and completely blew all of my initial preconceptions about her out of the water.

Since then, I've come to admire many other aspects about her character. I adore her politeness and concern for etiquette, as I believe that, especially in our modern society, such traits are too often easily overlooked or neglected by the majority of people. I also hold in very high esteem Rarity's concern for cleanliness and organization, since I'm a bit of a neat-freak myself, and again, I think that organization is another trait too seldomly displayed by people. She also probably has the finest singing voice of all of the Mane 6, which, being a choral singer myself, I admire very much (and if I'm not mistaken, Tabitha St. Germain actually does her singing voice as well, though correct me if I'm wrong). But above all, as I mentioned before, Rarity's kind and generous nature is what I admire most about her. Also, she's the only pony on the show to fall in love with a rock, which automatically makes her awesome!!! Keep being fabulous Rarity! :D

And for the record, this may be the only whining I've ever heard that is bearable, brilliant, and absolutely hilarious all at once (but my gosh, may Celestia have mercy on those poor Diamond Dogs souls! :P ):

Actually, Rarity's singing voice is provided by Kazumi Evans, not Tabitha St Germaine. But I definitely agree that she has the most beautiful singing voice. Both Rarity's songs are at the top of my list.

Thanks for correcting me, I think I got that mixed up because I'm pretty sure (although still not 100% sure), after watching some of the hilarious "Bronies watch Older MLP" series, that Tabitha St. Germain may have done the singing for some of her characters in G3 as well, and to be fair, whoever did the singing then for her characters sounded quite pleasant as well, even though the songs themselves were crap. :)

This is a GREAT explanation of why Rarity is best pony.

I personally think Rarity is best pony because of her attitude. She's sweet, kind, and a great friend, but there's that side of her that loves to argue. She gets upset if things don't run her way, but she doesn't let it get in the way of a friendship without fixing it. We saw in Sisterhooves Social that Rarity will do anything to defend her beliefs. Until it gets in the way of a sisterhood, or a friendship. then that sweet, nice, heart warming, and genuine side comes out. And it is Glorious.

It's probably just the hair though..

Before anyone tells me to stop whining

I am *not* "whining". I am complaining. Do you want to hear "whining"? *This* is whining! Ooohhhh! This harness is too tight! It's going to chafe! Can't you *loosen* it? OH! It hurts and it's so rusty! Why didn't you clean it first? It's gonna leave a *stain*, and the wagon's getting *heavy*! Why do I have to pull it?

At first I did not care for Rarity that much. I kinda thought that she was the character in the show that was suppose to be the girl character of the show, but as time went on I saw that she wasn't like that. At times I thought Rarity was funnier then Pinkie Pie and she was a great singer. So I like Rarity a lot now.

I didn't really like Rarity all that much at first to be completely honest because I found her vain premadonna side to a bit annoying, but she has grown on me a bit more as a character even though I may find how much they emphasize this side of her to be a tad excessive. She often goes out of her way to please her sister Sweetie Belle (who is my favorite cutie mark crusader by the way) even if it means getting a little dirty which would normally be a massive faux pas for this fashionista. She may care a bit too much about what other ponies think at times but when the chips are down she always sticks up for her friends, and she a creative spark to her which she channeled into a successful business she has worked very hard to maintain.

Here is a character analysis I made on Rarity a little while ago

I've been a member of this forum for how long now and I didn't even realize there was a Rarity fan club?  :D

With Rarity, her prima donna personality is not necessarily a bad thing.  She's just a very dramatic, passionate character in general.  She doesn't mean any harm by it- that's just coded into the way she is, much like Fluttershy's shyness, or Rainbow Dash being cocky.  And her prima donna-ness isn't really at the expense of others, so it's kind of hard for me to see it as anything but a silly chaacter flaw that rounds her out.

I think this makes her a fascinating pony because this quality of hers is indeed *not* at the expense of her friends.  She's both vain and selfless, which seems contradictory at first, but think about it- why should wanting the best for yourself exclude wanting the best for others too?  And yes maybe she's not always giving, all the time, but that means she's not perfect.  Bottom line is, the feelings of her friends and her sister always end up coming first- maybe even at the expense of her own, as we've seen in Suited For Success and Green isn't Your Color.  Remember, she swallowed her own pride and jealousy there in favor of being a supportive friend.

Yes she's vain, but it's that vanity that is a big key to making the character so likeable and interesting.  If she was just giving and humble all the time, I'd get bored by that.  If she was just vain, she'd be, well, a self absorbed jerk.  But it's the combination of vanity and generosity that takes what would be an otherwise unlikeable character aspect and make it into a charming little quirk.

Even though I don't really like Rarity because she is stuck up with herself and she is dramatic but as the seasons progressed I got a liking to her because she just kinda grew on me and now I like her a lot.
