technology iTunes on Windows. Why?

Part of the reason I went from iOS to Android is because of crap like this. I'd rather have a phone that treats me like an adult then locks me in to their ecosystem like a child. When I did have my iPhone 3G, iTunes was a massive chore to use. It was slow, bulky, and reminded me of what Apple's doing: "You want stable and fast iTunes? Buy a Mac." Disgusting.

i understand but dude.. its only 68MB. i dont understand how that could be such a huge problem for you..

That's the size of the setup file, not the iTunes. For binary data that is very large.

I don't get it.

It's a memory hog, and isn't customizable in the slightest.

I know you're going to say "to sync my music with my ipod"

Foobar, can do that, except foobar isn't bloated, a memory hog and is customizable.

"But Legit! iTunes just works!"

Is it really that hard to drag a folder?

The reason I say Windows is because if you have a Mac you're probably already locked into Apple products.

What's the point of iTunes on Windows?

SO EFFING TRUE. I use winamp and my life has been 10x better since I switched over to it.

It's a memory hog

I really hate that about it. Other than that, it is tolerable, but a program like that has no excuse to suck up so much processing power.

Winamp is superior for Windows.

itunes on windows is like the definition of bloatware.

I too hate using itunes, the only justifiable reason I can think of using it is, A: to buy music/what ever else the crap the itunes store has

and B: Updating the IOS version on whatever the iproduct you have, and still then....

Why do people like itunes and apple's products so much, from what I have heard itunes takes a large amount of money from the people who choose to sell their stuff on itunes, it must be because it is so popular they get more sales through it.

apple are KNOWN to over price their products, why people even go out and still buy them is beyond me.

I've had it for seven years and have never had any issues with it. It works just fine, and it's easy to use. I don't care about customization. It means nothing to me in a music player. I honestly don't know why you care so much.

I installed itunes back when got my computer because I had an ipod yada yada... Now I Never update it due to the fact that it probably installs a bunch of useless stuff and I never use it to download anything anymore. It just kinda sits and occupies space, although like RKA mentioned, I also use it for listening to .pls radio stations occasionally. (di.fm ftw :P)

Awesomeness = at least 20% Cooler.

I've never really cared about music players. You run them, click a playlist, and click play, does it really need much customization?

I use itunes because I have an itouch. Not my first choice of device, but it was a gift, and it works just fine for what I use it for, so there's no reason for me to shell out for an android. itunes syncs and updates it. Sure, other stuff would too, but I already have itunes and am too lazy to switch :/

Also, I have a couple thousand songs and it doesn't lag for me, except when I connect my ipod.

Now don't get me wrong, I can't stand apple and normally I wouldn't use their products, but I never actually had to pay for any of my apple stuff, and what little I do use I don't feel the need to customize.

I think the point legit is getting at is, you shouldn't just use it because it works when you can get or programs for syncing your music videos and what not to your iPod that are lightweight and provide a lot more freedom than iTunes does, back when I had an iPod and I needed to get my music off it for an IOS firmware update, because it would wipe it clean if I didn't, I found a third party program that allowed me to do so, why didn't iTunes have this feature? anti piracy?

the program I used, was lightweight fast and I think it was also open source, using that program over iTunes was a CLEAR advantage for computing speed and back uping files.

here is something I find quite ironic

that is what apple are essentially doing to their customers now, locking them in and giving them no freedom, its the people who make the iTunes clones that work Much better than the original product that is the person who throw the hammer at the big screen.

did what I say make any sense? prolly not, try to make sense of it if you can.

The moment I discovered that Foobar was capable of handling my iPod for me my life became much brighter. No more fighting with error-laden Apple bloatware. It was a good day.

Well, why not? I don't have memory problems and I see no reason to customize the way in which I press play :/

because it is better to be using less RAM at a time so you can use it for other things same with hard drive space, iTunes being bloat ware and all it takes up MUCH more ram and Hard drive space than other simpler program that in turn give a little more customisation, allows you to sync and can play your music.

so basically, why not get the best of both worlds when you can, because you can.

like I said, I'm not having RAM problems. I rarely even use itunes except while typing stuff or posting in forums, and running itunes, word and/or firefox isn't exactly hard on the computer. If i frequently listened to music while playing games, I'd probably change.

You aren't running into any ram issues at the moment, but later on, lets say Itunes gets a few updates that bloat it further, and you want to have a few other ram intensive programs open, later on, also while on the topic of later on, what if your hard drive gets filed with other stuff because, itunes decided they want to force you to install quick time, another example of apples bloat ware you'd run out of space Hard drive space if you keep on using their programs, the point is, that it doesn't need to use as much ram as it does and why not get the best of both worlds because you can.

I've never had a problem with iTunes personally, but since I have a Palm Pixi right now, I'm just used to dragging from the Music folder to the Pixi. Otherwise, I use my PSP and MediaGo for movies and TV shows, and if I can't find it on PSN, then I'll use iTunes.

I use iTunes daily, I've got a Windows, and I really have no problems with it. :L Big program or not.

I've got like 1,500 songs on it, it doesn't lag really at all... I really don't see what's the big problem. Maybe I don't want a Mac computer.

It sometimes lags when I use it, I have around 6816 songs

My library grows pretty fast. But I think there's a few duplicates in there, and other files.

Sure it takes up a lot of space on your computer but thats why new compters can handle it.

It's not how big it is, it's how bloated it is .
