For me.That Dirty electro, and EDM is same as dubstep or similar to dubstep.

first of all, there is no such thing as "dirty electro". secondly, dubstep is a form of EDM. EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music, and dubstep is all but a genre of EDM like all the other stuff like trance, house, drum and bass, etc.

Oh yes. I love skrillex, deadmau5, and daft punk the most

Skrillex isn't really what you could call dubstep. sure he has that one super popular song Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, but most of his stuff is more of aggressive electro-house than dubstep.

deadmau5 is an house proudcer, more specifically he does mostly progressive house and minimal house tunes. he's had like, what, 1 song you could call dubstep, and that was just the second half of the song.

lastly, Daft Punk is primarily an french house group. none of the stuff they produce could even remotely be called dubstep.

Most dubstep is awful, I find, but that's probably because the grand scheme of dubstep 'artists' are still stuck in Fruity Loops trying to make beats out of the first things they hear in their mind. I think the genre needs to be revived really.

the whole dubstep mentality is somewhat immature, yes. it's a result of it being so mainstream i'd think; everyone wants in on the whole dubstep thing, and thus, lots of inexperienced people produce a multitude of less-than-favorable dubstep for the masses.

but dubstep isn't a bad genre, honestly. the whole post-dubstep movement is rather neat, and there are a number of good dubstpe producers out there. tis just the effect of it becoming so mainstream; it's everywhere, everyone and your mother produces it, and it gets rubbed on in so many conceivable places you could swear it is some sort of brainwashing, manipulative movement. and thus everyone hates it for that. had it not been this mainstream, i doubt people would have paid dubstep any more notice than any other form of music.

Metallica is nuch more complicated than you think

are you trying to make a point with this statement or...

I like dubstep in short bursts.

It's good for parties and fun to make sometimes, but it can get old pretty damn fast. I don't mind having a filthy drop here and there when the mood calls for it but if your sitting in say, a library or other places with a similar atmosphere about it, and some idiot insists on listening to the same skrillex songs over and over again at full blast, it can be REALLY god damn annoying.

If it's sort of calm and relaxing, its all right, but random bass increases and drops gives me headaches when overused, and %90 of the time, that's all it is and it just sounds plain bad.

Dubstep is good at times, but I consider it as the little sister to house. Primarily though I listen to trance, and not much else (I guess house or string based orchestral would be seconds)

It makes look at much music has degraded over the decades. :/

Just to get things straight... Do you know who the Gorillaz are?

(They're not affiliated with dubstep whatsoever... I'm just wondering)

Tristam is probably one of the best Dubstep musicians from North America, in my opinion.

I went ahead and merged this with an existing Dubstep thread. It's a good idea to remember when making "general" threads for subjects like this to use the search feature and make sure there isn't one already. :)
