I am asking this because I feel like FIMfiction has changed my views.

I am female and have previously only been attracted to men.  I have never kissed a girl or even really considered it.  I have never been homophobic by any means and I have always had many bi, gay, and lesbian friends and I totally accept and respect them.  I just always thought of myself as strictly into men, and men alone.  I always turned down any advances from girls... didn't even want to think about that... EWW, lol.  I mean, I've always been able to appreciate feminine beauty... I just didn't want to go there, lol.

Since I started getting into the brony fandom, I've been reading countless shipping fics.... which are mostly girl with girl... there is a lack of stallions in the show, after all.  Quite a few of the fics have been with a female mane six character questioning whether she would rather be with a mare or stallion and trying both.  Mostly the shipping is between mare and mare.  There are some amazing authors out there that perfectly describe everything from questioning, to experimenting, to regretting, to dealing with judgement from others, to moving into sexual things.

Honestly, now I'm thinking that doesn't really sound bad.  Like I have a crush on a girl right now and it's so weird.  I still have not kissed another girl or anything like that, but you know, I think I'd try it.  I still love guys though.  That will never change.  I'm now feeling more open to the idea of having that same kind of emotional connection with a girl.  I'm still not sure how far I'd go physically... those thoughts still make me a little uncomfortable.  I'm thinking on a much more innocent level.

Have any other ladies felt like this?

It's a little different for the male bronies, I know... so for you gentlecolts, have the fanfics made you more comfortable with girls being with girls?

See, what I don't get is how generally accepting of gays people are in comparison to lesbians. It's the same thing.

OT: Still the same. I'm bi, so yea.

Yeah, I've always thought that too.  Back in high school and college there were some gay guys and pretty much everyone was like "yep they are gay... whatev"   There were a couple lesbian girls back in high school too and people acted like they had the plague or something.   Of course the guys were like "oh yeah I love me some girl on girl action" but they are talking about straight girls making out just for attention from men.   Not women who are truly in a relationship with each other.

A couple other things to consider...

The bronydom seems to be mostly male.  I don't have numbers, but it's just the impression that I get.  Most guys dig girls, and are just fine with two girls being...intimate.  Again, I have no numbers, but it's my impression that most girls aren't quite as into the visual or emotional idea of two guys being intimate.

Not entirely sure where I'm going with this, just trying to explain why it isn't really surprising that there is so much girl/girl fan art/fiction, and why they get a lot of support in the community.

And that's why I'm in the closet in real life. I'd rather not have it where people don't take me seriously just because I'm attracted to women. Well, that, and I'd rather not get the evil eye from everyone and be called a faggot constantly.

hey girl on girl, girl on guy, guy on guy

its all fine, all a "positive read/sight"

being a quite open bisexual I am not at all against any sort of gay relationships, that would be insane

the only thing that's changed is I read lesbian pony romance stories, vs before where I didn't

It changed my opinion for both gays and lesbians. I am now okay with two guys or two girls having a relationship. I would find it a little weird when I would see it in my highschool, but now I am okay with it.

I'm pretty neutral towards LBGT but that's about it, don't hate nor hang out with them. The ones that genuinely hate homosexuals usually does so out of religious beliefs.

Honestly, my views on people who like the same gender are mostly positive, if a little skewed. Of course growing up with a gay brother does help with seeing it from a point of view that is homosexual.

Now I don't pretend to know how some people like the same gender, but I just don't question it. People are people no matter what.

And ignorance. Crack open a bible and you'll see why homophobia is wrong.

Matthew 12:31-32 states, "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.". He who is repentant is forgiven for ALL sins save for the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

Mark 12:31 states, "And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.". Love people, but detest their sins (Homosexuality is stated as a sin in Leviticus 20:13, I think. I do not know what is the status on lesbian intercourse though. Probably falls under non-coital sexual immorality somewhere).

John 3:16 states, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.". That ANYONE may be forgiven and have everlasting life, so long as they repent in Jesus Christ as Saviour. This isn't something that only applies to a small pocket of holier-than-thou people, it is forgiveness for anyone who sins.

Romans 3:23 states, "For all have fallen short of the glory of God.". EVERYONE. Not just homosexuals. Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard.

Jesus loved even the sinners as people, and forgave them. Why can't homophobes be like Jesus? Why do they call themselves Christians, yet act so unlike the very Christ they follow?

The Bible also says to kill people with long hair, that you can sell your daughter into slavery if she disobey's you and that a guy who lived like hundreds of years built an arc and took 2 of every animal on board

oh and weirder things like a guy who could raise skeletons and had a sky chariot

as one can imagine I don't take it very seriously, you don't need a book to learn peace and love

@,

I find the attempts of christian preachers to cure homosexuals by reciting homophobic bible passages and telling them that they will go to hell to be amusing, their logic for hating gays seems pretty flawed too.

type in key words like 'sodomite' on youtube or google and you'll get to see how far these religious preachers would go.Even places like texas used to imprison gays and wanted to hang all of them before the federal government stops them.

i seriously don't care. Sure before, when i was younger, i thought dude thats awesome. Now i really dont care about same sex couples. they annoy me the same as any other couples. I will admit, however, that constant fanfics about Lyra x Bon Bon and Octavia x Vinyl Scratch made me think that those types of relationships are sweet and innocent.

Ironically, there aren't any Bible verses condoning hatred. But there are tons condemning hatred.

Funny how little they understand of love sometimes.

No. I was okay with lesbian relationships before and I still am now. In fact I don't even label them anymore, especially since I ran into so many MLP shippings. They're just relationships. :)

Quite honestly, I've never had a problem with gays or lesbians. What they do in their bedroom and spare time isn't any of your business, and it sure as hell isn't hurting you, or restricting you in any way.

MLP has made me think a little more on the topic. At first, some of the shippings, like TwilightxCelestia kind of wigged me out a little, but now it's like "Okay, yeah, that's a little cute." Not too many of the shippings really bother me (other than that LunaxTwilight one that I found one day...)

Then again, I was raised to think like this *shrug* And besides, being a lesbian or gay doesn't really change anything. You're still a human, you still have a job, you still serve your country in whatever way you do, be it flipping burgers or working for the president. It really doesn't matter in the end. Besides, everyone knows a gay person or two, and gay people tend to be a freaking riot to be around!

No no really.

The reason for this is that I always accepted thise that are homosexual (that's the term).

I never judged anyone based on their sexuality and always accepted them. It's how I was raised.

So no it didn't change my views, because I had nothing to change.

That's kinda like another thing that those fanfics have done to me... I used to really hate the idea of older women with younger men.  Like the thought of it made me angry. Probably since back in high school guys would tell me that my mom was hotter than me.... GRRRR.  I too have read the CelestiaxTwilight and CelestiaxRoyal Guard and CelestiaxWhoever and she is basically an older woman with young men/women.  It's kinda nice to think about now.  The woman who I've actually been crushing on is in her 40's and I'm in my 20's.  Granted she looks amazing for her age.... but so does Celestia.  lol.

If someone had told me a year ago that I would not only have feelings for another woman and the woman would be that much older than me I would have probably stormed off in disbelief.

Hell no. I've never had an issue with lesbian relationships. My issues actually the opposite. Fanfic writers need to be more open to hetero relationships. I know how icky and unnatural a male AND female is to some fanfic writers, but it needs to explored more.

But no. Nothing is changed. No issue with lesbians before or after lesbian cartoon horses.

You know, that's a good way to put it.  The MLP shippings have basically expanded my view of a "relationship" for myself to include more people.

What the hell? No, they have not. I've always supported same sex relationships, but fanfics haven't altered my opinion at all. I haven't read very many, though.

yes Celestia DOES look great for her age, I've had feelings for older ladies... though the oldest was in her mid 30s, but that's another tale...and I'm not a girl
