music Songs that make you feel

Music has a big impact on people's feelings, do they not?

I always say music makes me happy. And while that's true, music also makes me feel. I don't mean sad or depressed, just emotional.

This song definitely makes me feel:

Ooooh, this too:

How 'bout you? :)

This may be odd, and it's definitely old timey-country, but these two songs kind of choked me up the first time I heard them. I know plenty of songs that make me feel like dancing, and I'm not usually one for lyrics, but I do love these two songs. :3

Edit: Forgot this one. Oh man, I'm listening to it again and I'm reminded how much I love Tim McGraw. (Another old country song, as a pre-warning if you hate it. <3)

I find that movie soundtracks have a lot of emotion in them these ones in particular.

Lord of the Rings "May it be":

And

Gladiator "Now we are free"

The effect Isolation can have on a person is more than it seems...

It's frightening when you realize how fast things can change.

When traveling along the desolate, lonely wastelands of the Mojave desert at night, this song can really get to you.

There's not much of an explanation needed to tell that this song has some serious feels.

Whenever I listen to the song, Strawberry Swing by Coldplay, I always start feeling really good and happy and peaceful. Whenever I listen to the Dead Island trailer theme, I always start feeling sad and cry a bit. Whenever I listen to The Smile Song, I am instantly put into a good mood and can't help myself from smiling.

Music is Awesome.

I love a lot of songs, and there are many that make me "feel", but the only one that always gives me goosebumps is Hey Jude by The Beatles. Particularly the chorus that beings around 3:08 and continues for the rest of the song. The Beatles were the first band I was ever introduced to, and this song was always a family favorite.

If you want to know why I chose this song in particular, it's a bit of a sad story...

I have a sister named Leah, who had a terminal disease called "Batten's Disease". It basically caused her to lose most of her motor control (to the point where she couldn't walk and needed a wheelchair), become blind, and eventually lose cognitive ability to the point where she became mentally retarded. She died when she was only 15 (I was 6 at the time), but I still remember Hey Jude being one of her favorite songs ever (she always called it "Hey Dude"). She might have been mentally retarded and blind, but she had a very acute sense of hearing and was very capable of expressing her love for music. Every time I listen to this song, I think of her, especially during the "Naaaa naa naa nanananaaaa" bit that everyone knows. It seriously gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, and is currently the only song that can legitimately make me cry if I listen to it enough.

Even though Hey Jude isn't necessarily my favorite song of all time, or even my favorite Beatles song, it holds a special place in my heart. All the feels, man, all the feels.

On a side note, I've always wanted to listen to the song in a concert, with the entire crowd singing along. That would be incredible.

Like I have said on here many times I am a sucker for a good redemption story so this song appeals to me on that alone, and it reminds me of my Grandma

This song was used to defeat Gigue/Giygas in Mother1 or Earthbound Zero as it is know in the US

And here is the original

On my better days, it's anything punky and upbeat, like a random New Found Glory song or something. Why my mood music fluctuates is beyond me. *shrug* Punk music...just has a way with me, for some reason. I quite like the lyrics that deal with loneliness and heading out on your own, and finding your own ways to deal with life's hardships.

Songs like High School Never Ends by Bowling for Soup and Dammit by Blink-182 really put life into perspective for me.

Something new. I heard this song for the first time about ten minutes ago, and I can't stop listening. I'm actually getting a little sick thinking about it. I've never been in a serious relationship, but it's making me frightened of being in one. I hope I never hurt anyone this badly. Ever.

Viva La Vida by Coldplay always makes me feel somewhat emotional. I cannot specifically give a description of the feeling, but... meh

I love that song and the band. It is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. It makes me feel powerful but then it feels me with regret and sorrow. There are a lot of conflicting emotions present in that song.

Another song that has a lot of emotion is My Immortal by Evanescence. This song is just so beautiful and makes me feel sad. (I love the piano)

Ooh, I've got songs that run the gamut. Want happy?

Want sad?

Want peaceful?

How about a song to inspire you to punch zombies in the throat? Not technically an emotion, but still.

Hmm, theres so many songs that I love. But theres only a few that make me feel. I would guess it would be the Spirit of Fire OST from Halo Wars title screen and ending. The main reason is that it is used in a sad Halo: Legends episdoe, Homecoming. D=

It's an obvious one that's been played everywhere, but Hoppípolla is wonderful. All rise for Earth's national anthem.

Some other songs that invoke feels:

  • Thomas Newman - Any Other Name
  • Coldplay - Fix You
  • Take That - Back For Good
  • Keane - Bedshaped
  • Elbow - One Day Like This
  • Kenny Rogers - Ruby

And I think I'll list some video game soundtracks that filled me with feels too.

  • Sacrifice (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of Sky)
  • Turnabout Sisters' Ballad (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney)
  • Last Scene (Sonic Adventure 2: Battle)
  • Missing You (Maplestory)
  • Crystal Stars Theme (Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door)
  • White Herb (Maplestory)

I like deadmau5's music in genreal but this is just something else.

Also this:

The last track seems like random EDM and I don't know why, but it really makes me feel.

This is a beautiful song, I absolutely love it.

Deadmau5 couldn't have created a more wonderfully made track. (I especially love the vocals.)

For music that makes me feel good, its usually songs that I like with a ton of bass. The only exception is this:

Just cause Kanye West knows how to rap that first part really well.
