Have you ever been in the Hospital for a severe reason?

Well?

Personally, I have never been there for any reason. I have never broken a bone, or anything along those lines. After a couple of noticeable months...I should go, but no one will take me, so...

How about you all? What made you go there as well?

For two things up until now.

The first time was because of a ligament rupture in my right ankle. I someway managed it to stumble on my own feet, while running in PE, and ruptured all three of them. That sucked...

The second time was because of appendicitis. Good for me that I went to the doctor that day. Severe stomach ache. A day more and I'd be possibly dead right now...

And on top of that: Both things happened within the same year.

EDIT: I can understand if you don't want to post that here, but why should you go to the hospital? It sounds like you're hesitating. Or not?

I'm not sickly, but I've been to the hospital a lot when I was younger.  Being in the foster care system, they had to a lot of tests on me when I was 10 after I was taken from my parents.  I had a full body MRI and everything.  Other than that, back in April, I thought I had appendicitis, my abdomen became unbearably painful in about 5 hours, though that wasn't the case.

Yep. Three times.

For a broken arm, a broken finger, and after a car hit me at about 30 mph while I was on my bicycle. The last one being the most severe of course, I had a minor concussion, a nasty headwound and I broke my left leg in two places. I've recovered completely though.

Well, I've only ever been hospitalized thrice in my life as far as I recall.

The first was after I played space monkey and made my face go more red than I would've liked. I fainted for a short while and woke up with blood on my face and all over the floor after hitting the side of an edged surface. I have the scar on my forehead to prove it. The second time was a little more recent, but it was only as recovery after a surgery if that counts. The last time I'd been hospitalized is after my bout of pneumonia back in April and I had to stay in for 3 days while they did examinations and helped me recover my lung capacity. I hope not to have to be hospitalized again tho. I'm virtually Rainbow Dash pre-Daring Doo when it comes to having to stay in the hospital.

When I was maybe 6-7, I got rushed into hospital one night after the entire left side of my body locked up and I couldn't remember anyone or anything, nor could I move at all by the time I was in hospital. I had to have a CT and MRI scan which was awful, I hate confined spaces. Eventually they narrowed it down to some sort of infection, I can't recall where or what it was but they expected I wouldn't survive it.

My most horrible experience with surgery was a Tonsillectomy. I had tonsillitis 2 times per month for about 7 months recurring so we requested to have them removed. I've never had a sore throat since but my god, the after-pain is fucking awful. They recommend you to eat toast after surgery for some reason and that was the worst part, it was literally like scratching an open wound.

After that, I was watching the iTunes festival last year because my Queen/Goddess/Idol, Ellie Goulding, was performing. Mid-way through I started having extremely bad stomach pains which had me in tears and my mum wanted to take me to hospital but I refused to move until Ellie had finished. I sat through the entire performance in agonizing pain and then went to A&E where I was informed my appendix was extremely close to bursting and they didn't understand why I hadn't come to hospital earlier. The surgery was alright but again, trying to walk after an appendix surgery was extremely difficult and painful. Other than that, if any of you need Appendectomy, don't worry about it, there's no lingering ache or anything but it just pinches when you move.

First off, I'm going to start by saying that my life wasn't fun when i was 2-3.

When i was 2 i split my chin open and had to get stitches, the day i got them out i fell onto a curb and split my chin again

That same year i sat in a fire-ant hill, not fun

I had my arm crushed in a door

and when i was 3 i had a sever asthma attack that put me in the hospital for 3 days.

And i was trampled at a soccer game (yes everyone was wearing cleats)

I got hit by a car about 2 years ago. (My fault.) I woke up in the ER with a minor concussion. When I was 2 or 3, I had an asthma attack and went to the hospital, but I don't remember that.

But seriously folks, I once got really bad food poisoning from a school hotdog (which Is why I never eat school hotdogs anymore). My reaction to it was so bad that the doctor feared that I had Appendicitis. I was sent to the hospital where they ran all these tests on me that I was too much "out of it" to really care about. I remember drinking some really bad medicine and CAT scan. Luckily, I found out it was just food poisoning and they didn't cut out my Appendix (yay?).

I've been to the hospital quite a few times. The first time was for my hernia when I was younger. I forget what age I was then. The second time was because I sprang my ankle. Not serious, but I guess it counts, sorta. The more recent times however, meaning November of last year and March of this year was for hemorrhoid surgery. I can safely say that was the most painful and severe reason I went to the hospital.

Well, I did get an injury in my skull that nearly gave me brain damage. I was put into the hospital for about a month because of it.

Quite a painful experience.

Hmm, two broken bones, a concussion, multiple head injuries, some stab wounds and a gunshot wound. None of which are worth gettin' into I think. But needless to say i think they have a room set aside for me by now, just waiting for my next visit.

Yes I have. Since this gets a bit bloody, I will spoiler it.

In August 2003, I fell into my neighbor's driveway on a bike after coming home from a ride from the neighborhood. When I woke up I was lying in a pool of my own blood, covered in scrapes of varying severity all over my body and had this deep, large gash under my nose. Conveniently, none of the local doctors or even doctors in other cities like Foxboro or Walpole ever treated anyone with injuries like mine before, especially the gash, and we had to go out-of-state to Hasbro Children's Hospital for treatment per the recommendation of the doctor that briefly saw me in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Yes, Hasbro. Anyway, at this point, I was so weak from my injuries and the blood loss I was almost ready to die. Upon reaching Hasbro Children's Hospital, I already accepted that I was probably never going to see the light of day again. Obviously I did, otherwise I wouldn't be here telling you this, but I was finally operated on at 10:30PM - over five hours after the accident. Five hours later I was released from the hospital, but I feel like that was a mistake as I was still a bit weak from my injuries, my face hurt like hell and felt weird with the stitches right above my lip and all and the sleeping gas given to me prior to the surgery didn't help with the "still a bit weak from my injuries" part. Shoulda stayed there for another day or two, just so my doctors could make sure my condition was stable enough to allow me to rejoin society.

The irony is, I was assuring my mom I'd be safe before this happened. Me reassuring her of my safety led to the worst day of my life.

Don't believe me? I have the scar to prove it. I will send you a photo of my face if you really want to see it. It's very, very visible and people ask me about it a lot.

I've been to the hospital yea.

I used to go to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.  I was born with a heart defect.I had about a dime sized hoel in it. I was rushed from here (Lindsay) to a Toronto Hospital. I would've died. From then on until I was 18 I went to Sick Kids Hospital every 3 years for a check up. I still have a heart murmur.I've also got a larger heart then I should have. in other words My heart is too big for my body. So when I bleed, I bleed. I also only have 3 heart muscles, when I should have 4. two of them are fused together. But now I go see a regular local doctor for check ups about my heart issues.

Then back in 2008ish  I had a motorcycle accident. Didn't break anything, I was lucky. But I was still rushed to the hospital.

Don't know if this would technically qualify as a "severe" reason for being in the hospital, but I had my nose broken as a kid. I was playing baseball with one of my older sisters, and I was pitching. She hit a grand slam right into my FACE. Blood everywhere, scared to death that my nose would be flat forever...not exactly my best childhood memory. :yay:

I was in the hospital a couple of times. once when I was a kid to get my tonsils removed. though I suppose that's not a severe case /=|

a couple of years ago I was in the hospital for stomach pains which turned out to be a combination of a stomach bug and appendicitis, so I needed to get that removed

Once, to my knowledge. About 17 years ago, I was born.

...Yeah, I don't get sick a lot. But I've been there numerous times for other people's injuries. Everything from Leukemia to a motorcycle accident. Times like those make me grateful that I've been pretty lucky so far, and hope it'll stay that way.

Alrighty, here we go.

So when I was in the earlier third of school (any time between grades 1-4), I came down with a kidney infection that had been caused by strep throat. I was put into my local hospital and they had no idea what was wrong with me based on my symptoms. It was a pretty scary time for me, not because I was sick but because of all the needles they wanted to give me.

I was transferred to McMaster Children's Hospital where they managed to figure out what the problem was and I was hospitalized for around a month. I had a blood test every day except for one day where I asked if there was a nicer method. The nice hospital staff knew how afraid I was of needles and gave me an antibiotic of some kind instead for the day.

I was eventually discharged and given a final test not too long later to make sure everything was alright. We celebrated by going out for breakfast with a good friend and then going to toys R us.

EDIT: It was also when I was in hospital that I first saw Who Framed Roger Rabbit... man was the Judge Doom scene at the end traumatizing...
