Will Pinkie Pie and Bic Mac get married in season 4? [spoilers likely]

Okay, so you're probably wondering where this came from.  Well, thanks to this song they showed at comicon, there's been a lot of speculation going around:

 

I had an amusing theory going through my head, and I think the title tells you all about it.  Do you think it will happen?  Would it be a good thing if it happened?

 

Now, before anypony goes crazy, remember how much A Canterlot Wedding paid off for Hasbro.  They made a lot of money off Cadence and Shining Armor toys, as well as increased the fanbase (due to that episode being awesome).  It would make sense for them to ask the writers to look into getting a main character married.  Also remember how reasonable Hasbro has been with this show.  They require new characters to be able to sell new toys, but always give the writing staff plenty of time to do it right.

 

I can see a lot of good coming from such a thing.  Pinkie Pie could use some more character development.  Going through an engagement and wedding would push her to be more responsible and take charge (similar to how things went in Baby Cakes).  Some more development for Big Mac wouldn't hurt, either.  It would also take the characters to new and interesting places.

I highly doubt it. The show focuses on the friendship between the mane 6, and getting a character married would hinder that alot. Not to mention they have no previous relationship, and Pinkie doesnt seem the type to settle down anytime soon

I really don't think so - Pinkie Pie and Big Mac haven't really shared any kind of romantic interest. Have they even been seen in the same frame together? I'm not sure. And anyway, I don't think any of the Mane Six will get married, and if they do, the first one is obviously going to the Twilight. xD I think so, anyway.

I don't really think so. Pinkie Pie getting into a real relationship with a stallion will ruin her character because she shows being hyper and being friends with everypony. Also, I don't think any of the mane six are going to get married because the show focus more on friendship.

Even with that clip, it makes no sense. Their characters don't make a good match, and there's no reason to do it. I think you're reading the wrong thing into that.

I doubt it. For me, this is what I think is going on here:

The rock farm is breaking down financially, and the Apple family, plus Pinkie, since she worked at the rock farm, are coming to help.

If not that, I honestly don't know.

I really like mysteries like this, since it would make for a good surprise when you finally find out what is going on here

But, I really do want to see Pinkie's family again.

He's gonna marry Cheerilee, if he's ever gonna marry somepony and it is on screen. There already was that buildup and they didn't necessarily made that impossible with the ending of "Hearts and Hooves Day" because they just handled the situation like adults. They didn't need the CMC as Cupid. That's how I see it.

 

And to let the mane 6 have relationships like that while the show is still running would damage the premise, I guess.

I think the idea is kind of cute but not likely to happen.  Honestly, I think it would be best if none of the mane 6 get married during the show's running. Hasbro has a gold mine with this show and they should focus on letting the writers do their thing to bring in the money instead of making the show to complement their cheaply made toys.  If one mane 6 gets married, before you know it they're all married because Hasbro couldn't quit messing with it.  When corporate gets involved then the show's quality is likely to suffer.

Doubt it. This is just like alicorn Twilight again, but in a different category. If Pinkie were to marry Big Mac, it could harm her friendship with Applejack, and forget to do all her duties she.. well, whatever she does. It's like the FlashLight shipping too, I mean, Hasbro can play it steady and do a regular relationship, not marrying to get people to buy toys, I guess, but marrying is way too fast, and it will definitely make the fanbase lose viewers.

I can't really see anything that would hint at a relationship in the video and I don't think they've even spoken to each other in the past. Hasbro might be a bit pushy, but this would be completely out of the blue. Not a huge fan of the idea myself especially because Pinkie belongs with Rainbow Dash. I'm still curious why Pinkie is on the trip with them though. If it's for a reason besides her just deciding to tag along, I'd guess it's that they find out that Pinkie is distantly related to the Apple Family.

Nah, I don't think that's gonna happen. The show has never really delved into romantic relationships too deeply even when they are there, and I don't think(nor would want) that to change. Besides, Pinkie's most likely just tagging along for the road trip or something, can't tell you exactly why she's there but I'm sure it's a good reason, probably.

First off, they never had much interaction before now, so unless they have them build a relationship throughout the entire season, which I doubt, it would be a pretty bad idea to have them get married.

I might have to say no since, even though they shared a song with the Apple Family. Pinkie Pie and Big Macintosh never really shared a romantic moment together, I see more of a chance of Cheerilee marrying Big Mac.

Here is what I took from Pinkie Pie's inclusion in this number:

 

1.  She's the only other earth pony in the Mane 6 besides AJ.

2.  Pinkie strives to be everypony's friend on the deepest level that they're comfortable with. 

3.  If Pinkie can remember the time she had AJ's cutie mark and was trying to run the farm in her place, that could also strengthen her bond with the Apples. 

 

But marriage?  I don't see it.  Of the Mane 6, Pinkie strikes me as the least likely to get married because she's too busy loving everypony to devote the time and effort needed to be a wife. 

 

While a casual romantic encounter here or there is possible, no Mane 6 pony is going to marry before the series finale.

 

EDIT:  As DF mentioned, discovery of a biological relationship is also possible.

Doubt it, I imagine even Hearts and Hooves day was pushing the barriers of what they'd let them get away with on a "romantic subplot" with existing characters and even then it was a love potion episode, giving the excuse to wipe it all away and go back to the normal status quo. 

 

The implied age difference would be iffy too as far the PR department is concerned. 

 

If they did a serious romantic plot with anyone, I would guess it would be one with Rarity so they can play with "prince charming" tropes.

Pink MacinPie?  Big PinkieTosh?  For Eeey-eeverrr?  Does anybody even ship those two?  Unless it's a really nasty case of Executive Meddling, I'm sure there'll be some other reason for Pinkie to be with the Apples, or them to be with her, like if they're going to help out with her family's rock farm or something.

I don't see how that video ships Big Mac and Pinkie Pie at all, or at least puts the idea in people's heads. Where did you get that notion?

If anything, Big Mac and Fluttershy should get hitched, but its not going to happen because this show is supposed to relate to little girl and as you know, little girls cannot get married.

I don't see why she would. As already been stated there hasn't been any build up for Pinkie & Mac relationship, and that Pinkie is probably also the least likely to get married. Spoiler most likely is not going to happen. For one I don't think Pinkie Pie or Big Mac have ever talked to each other or have even been in an episode together with each other. So I just don't see these 2 getting together all of a sudden. Pinkie Pie just may think this is a fun trip and wants to come along.

I don't think they are related. They could still be going with that honorary family member, like in the Speedy Cider episode. Besides the Apple Family keeps in touch very well with one another. So I just don't see them one day finding this info out. Still maybe it is true.

The show is about friendship and there is probably something about that going on. And accepting others, maybe? Even though they are not family.

As others have said, it'd be WAY out of the blue for that to happen. They've barely even interacted with each other, if at all. Plus they've already set the stage more or less for Cheerilee, it'd be completely random if they suddenly made him interested in Pinkie.

 

I recall there was mention of an episode in season 4 where Pinkie's sisters would make an appearance. If I were a gambling man, I'd bet that this song might have something to do with that episode.

If they did, at would be quite spontaneous because there really was no hint or build up of that at all. The video is not loading for me, but I assume it is that new Apple family song. I don't really see how a song in the future is going to really do anything in that regard, unless they do something else in the episode. I just don't see Pinkie and Big Mac being together...I have not once thought about that combination. It doesn't fit, but maybe I need to read some fan fics or something involving that, because they are out there I am sure.
