On the forums, not that I know of.

Irl, I used to get mistaken for a girl all the time when I was a kid because I had long hair and kind of a delicate face.  It drove me nuts and made me mad.  I cut the hair at about 7th grade and it never happened again.  Eventually I got facial hair and that really sealed the deal.  Funnily enough, now, at 29, what seems like a lifetime later, I actually wish I was female.  I'm not trans, (i.e. I have the correct brain for my parts), but I just wish I had been born female.  A lot, actually.  I dress in feminine clothing, and I'm in the process of growing my hair out.  So, in the future, I wouldn't be surprised if I get mistaken for female again, especially from the back before they see my face.  Interestingly, unlike when I was little, I think now I would kind of like it if I was mistaken for female.  Kind of like @Roketsune, I suppose.  I think I'd be tickled, honestly.  How time has a way of changing things.

  • 3 years later...

It hasn't happened on the forums. Well, at least I don't think it has. It hasn't happened in real life either, which is a good thing, since it would be beyond awkward.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I've been mistaken for a guy on the forums a couple of times, by people who don't know me very well. It happens and it ain't no big deal. When I used to be on Equestria Forums I always kept my gender unspecified so it was about 50/50 there. Here I put it on my profile for all to see so there's no great confusion.

In real life I've never been mistaken for a man. I dress way too girly and wear my hair and makeup in an unmistakably feminine way. And also, you know...boobs.

On the Forum, yes, this has happen a few times. It is not so a big problem for me because from where should the person know which gender I have when he/she don't see me. When it happens, I say to the person that I am a man.

In real life, no, this is never happend, not even in the time while I had long hair.

Online, if they don't know, they would used "them, they" pronoun. But I've never been mistaken for a girl both online and IRL.

Once already on this forum! But it's understandable. And I look pretty androgynous,

IRL, I get confused for a guy frequently, until I speak up and they hear my voice! Depends on the clothes I'm wearing too. And sometimes not even my voice tips them off (It gets kinda deep and scratchy whenever I'm tired or sick)

The only time I remember being referred to as a she on here was when I was trans (I was on my old account). Primarily it was my ex-boyfriend referring to me that way, though I remember happening other times as well. Happened a LOT on other sites though... :-P

As for in real life, twice. One time I don't exactly remember the circumstances and the other I was by a cashier at Target, though I never really looked that femme... I look far from masculine, but nonetheless... :mlp_huh:

If course I don't mind it at all. I actually enjoyed being called a she at the time. Now it's more like it's whatever. I don't really have an issue with being referred to by a specific pronoun, I've kind of accepted all of them... Except "it". That's borderline degradation.

Not on the Forums but once in real life.

It happened in December, some guy at my cousin's wedding thought I was a girl because of my long hair lol he later said sorry tho.

I laughed my ass off for like five minutes.

I don't know how often it happens on here, because people rarely refer to my gender, but I can't help but feel like it's mistaken a lot. It's the issue with using the names of my favorite ponies in my usernames (like "Totally Lyra" or "Totally Roseluck") when they're all female and I'm male.

I'm proud to say though that in real life I've never been mistaken for a girl. :D

Nope, never. My OC is male, my voice is distinctly male, and I act male.

A lot of guys who have been mistaken for girls usually seem to have long hair. I've never grown my hair out, so that's not a problem. :P

Never in real life, as far as I know (and I doubt it would ever happen). But on the forums, I remember at least one occasion when another user thought I was a girl due to my username (back then, my profile didn't even mention my gender). And thinking about it, it does sound a bit feminine, which I didn't realize at first. Not that it bothers me at all. :P
