Scariest Online Experience You've EVER Had?

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened online to you? Mine is pretty tame.

I was browsing through a server hosting website, and suddenly I got jumpscared by a .GIF (think 420yolo) then DDOS'ed for almost three weeks. It freaked me out cause the only link I could go to was the 420yolo-ish link.

SAME

but not the DDOS ._. Other than that a guy once like me and said nasty things to me then I blocked him. and omegle really doesn't scare me I mean I've made a lot of friends there ETC but lool I use videochat so yeah not a lot of pleasant sights.

Mine is pretty tame and is mostly my stupidity. Basically I was just reading the freakiest Creepypastas I could find for about three hours straight. I didn't sleep at all that night for fear that a freak monster ghost mutant hybrid was going to come out of my closet and do horrible things to me. Also when I was like 10 I played the Exorcist maze game. I think that scarred me for life.

Well, nothing "Scary" has ever happened to me online per se, but the thing that's probably cause the most trauma was being banned from the first forum I was on (Before I found this wonderful place. :) )

Actually, it was kinda scary. Out of nowhere, I got redirected to the banned page while I was scrolling down, which kinda caught me off guard.

Someone in a particularly dysfunctional Facebook group I was in admitted to murder(and more in the "start of a serial killer career" way than "I got mad and shot a guy" and said goodbye before turning himself in  I'm going to say the whole time I was in there was bad though because people threatened suicide right and left and even had split personality breakdowns.

About the time that big one happened I cut ties with everyone aside from the local peacekeeper(and she even left some time after I did) and one other person that admitted he didn't feel comfortable there and ended up following me to a new chatroom all together. If it wasn't for the two people I did sincerely befriend, I'd regret the whole thing.

In fact, it was a brony group and this is one of the places I came seeking refuge and repairing my relationship and faith in the community after I almost gave up due to ponies being nearly ruined due to the kind of drama and heartache I associated with it. I'm glad I found you guys.

As far as online experience go, I got infected with the ueep high jacker. I guess it my sister got it on there since i let her use it for an hour. The only reason as to why this is scary is that no matter what, I couldn't get rid of it. Avast didn't pick up jack shit as well. I then found these 2 bad ass anticrapware things called adwcleaner and malwarebytes. Hadn't had any problems since. As far as general computer shit is concerned, one day I lost all the DOOM wads I was making for some reason. Another one is I had to fix a friends' shitty pc. So much crapware on that thing. I swear he had no antivirus or some really bad one like McAfee. It would also shut down at random until I finally managed to boot it into safe mode with networking. I ran adwcleaner first and that seemed to have gotten whatever was causing random shutdowns. I then ran a full scan with mbytes, downloaded ccleaner and Avast.

The scariest? I can't say I've ever encountered anything particularly scary on the internets. I've seen plenty of weird stuff, gore, shock images and the like but I can't think of anything that actually scared me.

Hm.. I dunno, I get scared randomly alot lol.

Idk about online that much to be fair though.

Although, back when i was alot more guilable, i had a online friend i use to play with who linked us to some weird porn site or something via Tiny.URL. And it wouldn't close by normal means, i  had to ctrl alt delete it. I found it pretty scary, plus it was weird...

I'm not really scared for life though, but it was pretty freaky.

Marble Hornets

Oh my god marble hornets is so fucking scary. I'm sure you all know Slender The Eight Pages. well MH is the series that Slender is based on. At one of my birthday parties me and my friends marathoned it up till entry 50 or so. I really could not sleep well for MONTHS. I'm not as scared of it now, but occasionally I'll have a MH/Slenderman dream and wake up in a cold sweat and be scared for the rest of the night. Really, go watch it. it's legitimately frightening.

Another kind of scary would be my parents lovely little random Internet history check. Sometimes... Sometimes you forget to clear it.

Okay this is gonna sound kinda dumb, but...

I was on youtube one night, just browsing through creepypastas and the Squidward's Suicide videos. I'm not someone who is scared by this stuff usually. I'm quite morbid and bloody death stuff doesn't bother me. I'm wierd and somewhat lack jumpscare reflexes. Most of the time, my brain doesn't register a jumpscare fast enough for me to even react in time. But if jumpscare does get me, my heart skips a beat and i freeze like a deer in headlights. Anyway, one of the videos had this crappy intro with a bunch of randomly put together creepypasta images. Then this image from suicide mickey mouse flashed on my screen for half a frame in the intro right as i hit opened into fullscreen.

img-1817448-1-a3655016241_10.jpg

My heart jumped soo bad. The sudden fullscreen, combined with the bright red colors, slasher smile, and the intense eyeballs is what got me. I grew up watching the old mickey mouse cartoons that the creepypasta image is based off of, so being familiar with the original image didn't help either. Stupid mouse picture. Its not even that scary.

Scariest online experience?

Probably the first time I saw the scary maze game. I was in 7th grade...

Either that or reading the last chapter of "NES Godzilla Creepypasta." Seriously, whoever made that has such a twisted imagination. But that story was creepy in a good way.

Also, @crazitaco: I did not expect to see that Mickey face. It's 12:00 midnight and I just jumped out of my skin. (I've seen the face before, but I didn't read the text before I opened the spoiler, so...)

The Bong Chong Dong ghost comic jumpscare is really the only thing that comes to mind, I literally fell back off my chair when I read that. Kinda embarrassing to explain why I yelled and was on the floor when people came to see what was up >.>

I had a real scare once online a few years ago. (Before I was married!) I was involved in a bit of a flirty relationship with someone. (Not cybersex, but he wanted to)  I discovered by accident that he had started making multiple female IDs to back up things he said about himself being such a great guy and the like. He was making a real effort to try and pin down my actual brick and mortar address! It scared the living hell out of me. He only stopped when I said I had forwarded everything to the FBI. This is why I am firm in NEVER using my last name online, and I have NEVER EVER uploaded a single photograph of myself!

On a lighter note. I made the mistake of looking at a "Slenderman" video on Youtube once. Unlike any horror movie I ever saw, it actually made me scream, and it felt like my heart was trying to escape my body!

The stuff that usually scares me, is mostly jump scares and small things that give me frights. Jeff the Killer Gifs, etc.

I've had several scary things however.

I was on a Skype chat with a small group of friends from school, while playing Skyrim on my PC. We were all super bored, and it being a weekend, we decided to group chat, and do other stuff at the same time.

(Skyrim Story Spoilers Ahead)

After playing through most of the Dark Brotherhood Quest, My PC was starting to act abit wierd. The quality for the Skype call wasn't really affected by it, but I noticed it. Thinking it was just a bit of signal issue, I continued to play, until the part where the First base had been raided and set on fire. After climbing in to the Night Mothers coffin she says "Sleeeeeeeep" in a really creepy whisper, and the screen would usually turn back, as you stare at the Night Mothers wonderful Corpse, which is part of the game. Still creepy though.

As I was doing so, the Skype call immediately dropped, and the Game froze, into which led me back to my desktop.

After the initial shock, I locked all the doors, shut the blinds, and hid in my room, scared $*itless. After mustering the courage to go back on the computer, I joined the call again, where I was greeted and treated to happy faces!

They sounded like robots though.

Of course, Skype does that, but as I was still recovering, I was still alittle creeped out. But as I regained signal, I regained sanity, and everything became fine.

Oh, this one time, I got Warning Points (That was the scariest)

I was on Omegle back when it was only text chat.  Some guy told me exactly what I was doing, and said he could see me through my webcam.  That's when I learned to always cover my webcam unless I'm using it.

Wow, yikes! I've always been cautious with my devices that have cameras. Neither my current desktop nor laptop have a webcam. Maybe that isn't such a bad thing. lol

When this image popped up randomly: (Warning to those of you easily frightened. I guess posting this is allowed...)

Actually nvm. Don't want to get in trouble.

Also, one time I was Stumble-Uponing (is that what you call it), and I clicked Stumble, and then opened a YouTube tab on a separate tab, but the StumbleUpon page loaded a random scary scream that gave me a heart attack and my volume was high.

Mine is pretty tame actually. I was in about...hmmm 5th grade I think. I made myself an email on yahoo when a bunch of random people were messaging me. They were giving me links to things (which I'm guessing we're porn sites) but I wasn't stupid so I didn't click them. Some of the people tried talking to me in a sensual way. One of them asked for my address. No matter how many I blocked, more people just kept messaging. I believe it was the same person with multiple accounts. Which is why, I now use Gmail.

This was more me being an idiot than being scared.

I kept hearing music and adverts being played through my computer, when I didn't have the internet open. I was worried that it was some sort of malware I got whilst I was downloading Minecraft mods, so I uninstalled them.

 ...

I then realised it was being played in the server I was in on Team Fortress 2, I forgot I had it on in the background........... I felt stupid XD

I have never been jumpscared by the internet, ever. I never needed to replace programs because: 1. I run Mac most of the time, 2. Opera w/ 15 plugins + AVG is a solid line of defence.

The closest I got to being jumpscared is when watching some people play SCP. When I watch that, I get the tense feeling where I feel something is going to go terribly wrong, whether it is virtual or physical.

PS: Opera is best pony and browser.

I've encountered on scariest, crepiest and the worst youtube song I've ever heard on the internet. One very fine day, I was looking up at youtube for Chamillionaire - Ridin' until I saw one Minecraft remix of it.The Music was so bad until you even can hear the off-beats of the person who was singing it.It was a painful and a scary situation.

I searched 666 into youtube's search bar and refreshed the page multiple times. I'm not gonna tell you what happened.

WARNING: DON'T DO IT!

I did it and nothing happened. I'm disappointed (I even had my hand on volume knob in case of wild jumpscare appearing XD)

My scariest experience? Smile.jpg video on YouTube (sadly I can't find it now) generally it had very disturbing music and picture was moving closer and closer to You. Even playing Amnesia wasn't that scary for me.

The "Youtube 666" thing is actually a creepypasta video created by a certain Youtuber. It's fake, but he made it look rather convincing.

Can I get a link to this video (even through PM if it'll be considered as off-topic)? I really can't find it and as I told before- I'm way to curious about such things (especially when someone tells me not to be curious :P )

Haha, welcome to the club. All modern teen junk is usually informed to me on the internet because I'm so distant from all of it.

OH GOD- seriously, they have malware like that? :(

In fact, they do.

I am not sure how it opened in my browser, but I do have one theory, but since it involves NSFW, I probably shouldn't say it.

That stupid 420 - yolo  site with the jumpscare Jeff the Killer image with sound.

I love Jeff the Killer..but I didn't need to hear that in the middle of the night...in a dark room...volume turned up full blast...and with headphones in.

I now mute my sound nearly all the time because of that experience.

I actually went on it with no volume on.

Not the scariest thing that has ever happened to me but I've watched all of the four famous Slender video series. Marathoning them can make you pretty paranoid- seeing shadows and stuff in the corners of windows and the like. I even had dreams about Slendy after watching all of Dark Harvest.

I don't think Slender is that scary. At least not scary enough to feel paranoid.

Well, since it's the internet I don't think anything is scary.. Except for one thing, I was just browsing the internet when suddenly the computer started acting weird and just turned herself off. It had nothing to do with the internet though, but still I was online. Yeah, that's pretty much it I expect everything else.

Your computer is a girl?

If that happens often, then take it to a professional. If your computer overheats, that could be the problem. Overheating is most likely the problem, though.
