If we are to be remembered by history, it could very well be for our deviance. Maybe not in history books, but in classes that relate to society. Those classes could talk about social deviance, and the way societal norms slowly changed. How bronies went against those norms and helped paved the way for more gender neutral roles for men, etc. Of course, this could never happen, but as others have said, it is too soon to tell. I don't think, unless this fandom did something that really stands out, that bronies would go down in history. Bronies would be more or less talked about in subjects where it's relevant. But we just don't know, our fandom is still young, but has grown significantly fast.

Only time will tell if we go down in history, and for what.

Like, don't underestimate my power man.

History books? Nah, that's silly! We havn't done anything drastically important, other than pester all the other fandoms and fill the internet with ponies and rainbows. Maybe if the bronies did something so massively life changing, maybe, just maybe we'd have a brief mention in a book.

The bronies need to get their act together and do something important if they want to be mentioned as a whole in a book.

Of course, they will go down in the history of internet fads, under the incredibly demeaning title of Cancer of the Internet ;-;

Come on guys, we have to be realistic here- what kind of impact do you think the brony fandom has had on the world, really?  Let's face it, most people who aren't super internet savy don't even know what a Brony is.   To put it in perspective, look at Alexa's internet site rankings- Google is #1, Facebook is #2, Youtube is #3.  Equestria Daily?  8,350.  ED would have to increase its page views by over *30 times* in order to even crack the top 500.

We're an impressive fandom, yes, but the rest of the world is too ridiculously, unfathomably huge for us to merit any serious place in history at this point.

Honestly, I think we are just people of our time. When I say that I mean gender stereotypes aren't quite what they used to be in this day and age, I don't think we are so far ahead of the curve as you think we are. While I think the Bronies are good for society I don't think we are groundbreaking. People in general are becoming more and more tolerant. I do however think we stick out. A lot of us are grown men, in their 20s watching a show who's demographic is young girls. I think in the eyes of others we are challenging the stereotypes in a bit more of an extreme way. I mean just before us not too long ago there were the "Emo" and "Scene" kids for example. I remember those guys wore eyeliner and straightend their hair and the whole nine yards, so while there have been some before us I don't think it has been A: to this magnitude, and B: Something so positive. While there is nothing wrong with the afore mentioned emo and scene kids what they stood for and what they did was not nececarily positive, Bronies on the other hand, I would consider a positive thing. I our little motto we have is "love and tolerate". What could be wrong with that?

As much as I love MLP, no matter how awesome this fandom is, we must seriously ask ourselves one simple question. What important impact have we made on this world? Hell, most people don't even remember many major historical events, groups and movements that have happened in the past. What makes you think that that they'll remember something as trivial as this fandom? Seriously, if you have to look up what the Cultural Revolution was about or who Franz Ferndinand was, then you just proved my point.

I see it not being for the great people we are, but for something resembling a large tragedy.  (Not to be pessimistic) It would probably be for some big headliner, "1000 Bronies gunned down by cult" or something like that.

I think that it is very possible that Bronies will go down in history. Bronies DID make a significant impact on internet culture and in a lot of people’s personal life.

But with that said, I also feel that it is very possible that they will not be recorded in history books. Our story will be on the internet for the rest of time. When I ask someone that is not a Bronie what the term "Bronie" reminds them of they tell me that its like "Planking just a fad."  It’s sad...

I don’t want to be negative but I have seen this happen to many topics that are popular in today’s culture. That list is what I have seen happen and I really hope that it doesn’t happen to this site… I like it here…

Huh. What an odd question.

History is written by the winners, so if you want to be in the history books, get writing. Don't assume someone else is going to do it for you.

Trekkies and Whovians already are in the history books. No reason why Bronies *can't* be, outside of apathy, angst, and the bizarre need for artificial drama in the fandom itself.

Delusions of grandeur...

Heheheh.

No, we won't go down in history anymore than Trekkies or lolcats will. We're not some kind of selfless Tiananmen Square heroes simply for liking My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

We will be remembered as the people who did something different. We openly showed the world that we like stuff that isn't for our age group. We made blogs about it. We made videos about it. The East Staines Massiv hate us for it. We will be remembered!

If Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Could

 img-1328993-1-ht_rudolph_red_nosed_reind

I think that we could too. I mean, we're more interesting then a talking reindeer and an elf who wanted to be a dentist...right guys? Right?

LOL dude you made my day! That picture! So funny... hahaha

Anyways, to answer your question, like Obama says: 'YES WE CAN'.

Although I doubt that we will be in a history book, many, many people will remember us, and maybe even write about our impact on the world. We have broken stereotypes and gender-barriers, and boosted people's confidence just by telling them to "Smile Smile Smile." We have converted others into bronies, and shared with them the beauty of the fandom! So instead of saying 'Why should we be in history books', ask yourself 'Why shouldn't we?" Plus, we bronies are freaking hay awesome and have so much sawg we need to be in the History books anyways :P

100 years from now what do you think the history books will say about 'bronies'? TL:DR and sarcastic/comedical replies encouraged. Here's mine:

Bronies (also see cloppers) refer to a social movement in the dark days of the 2010's. Born out of a show originally conceived in the 1980's to appeal to young girls to sell toys, 'bronies' refer to an unexpected development in audience. Men predominately in their 20's watched the 4th generation of the show, dubbing themselves 'bronies'. During this time in history; bigrotry, sexism, and homophobia where still present in the barbaric times of the early 21st century, due in part to a great economic recession. It is theorised the term from the show 'love and tolerate' began the social movement in the late 2010's against bigotry and hatred in society. The 'internet' holds a great wealth of information from this period in history. Specialists are currently still in the process in decoding this medium, which bears no discernible relation to today's brain wave devices that read though patterns in 5D.

It would probably say something like this...

"Bronies: an ancient group of pagans who worshiped 6 pagan deities known as the Mane 6. These deities where loosely based off of horses, but had been anthropomorphized. The Majority of the members of this Pagan Cult were Men. Most information about the cult was lost or destroyed after the great war."

"Bronies were a subculture most famous for being completely wiped out during the Great War of 2076. In spite of trying to spread love and tolerance, their hopes, dreams, ideals and bodies were crushed by the mechanized forces of the Republic of England. Not much is known of them, aside from their worship of a deity named Princess Celestia who banished her enemies to the moon. The Republic of England also destroyed the moon with the help of the Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish and Manx Republics. In retaliation, the United States of America daubed their mecha in gaudy, pastel colours and adopted large crests to resemble ponies from the show. Calling themselves the Children of Celestia, America accidentally'd their economy and was bankrupt after making just six of these mecha's, which were all destroyed over the ensuing way. The most powerful American mecha, PINKIE PIE_V2, was mercilessly destroyed at the Battle of Washington when a North Korean nuke, which was actually revealed to be several thousand bottlerockets duct-taped together, entered the cockpit and demolished the mecha. In retaliation, the Republic of Sealand launched an actual nuke and destroyed North Korea."

Yes, that is what will actually happen. Trust me.

Why stop at 100 years? WE NEED TO GO DEEPER!

In the distant future when wannabe Marty McFlys actually CAN own a hoverboard and mankind has finally eliminated those damn minorities (several centuries of intense intermingling in those crazy years between 2550-3450 left humanity one homogenous, fairly boring race roughly the color of chocolate milk), a scientist by the name of Geoff (note that Geoff is the socially acceptable name for a member of the scientific community) McPounder , who was actually Richard McPounder's 18-times-great-grandson, stumbled upon the remnants of "brony culture" in one of the internet's oldest and darkest caves. Upon further investigation he found evidence of a vast (roughly the size of New Jersey) internet empire fueled by a deep devotion to magical cartoon equines.

Some years later a complete box set of the series was recovered from the rubble of a long-ago burned out Blockbuster, the sole survivor of The Great Movie Rental Store Fires of 3872. The set rattled about the history department for a few days until, on the seventh day, a couple of historian dudes (Carl and Carl) just dickin' about in the archives decided to pop the first of one of the set's 218 Betamax tapes (it really was the format of the future) into the player and upon viewing it they saw that it was good and they rested. It was the seventh day, after all. During a mandatory doob tokin' break, the two historians decided that they must share this discovery with the world. It quickly caught on throughout the homogenized human race and the long forgotten 2010's movement caught a profound second wind.

Sadly, all this was crushed when Hasbrocorp, "Your friendly neighborhood monopoly!", caught wind and issued a copyright claim. The movement was forced underground for several decades (for more information on this period, research "The Dark Times" 4002-4060) until one man named Geoff Rodriguez (he was a geologist) finally decided to stand up against the tyrrany. He and his followers waged bloody war on the mighty corporation with a plethora of shitty OCs and bad fanfics. Hasbrocorp finally caved in after twenty-three years of bitter fighting that left the landscape ravaged and several major cities uninhabitable and the "Born-again Bronies" were once again free to do whatever the hell they wanted.

True story.
*tokes doob*

Brony: (n., also "Bronies", "Bronyism", "Pegasister") 1. An extant (greatest circulation: 2010-2019) internet subculture group who are entertained by the content of the television cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, created by Hasbro Inc. and artist Lauren Faust. 2. Singular noun describing a member of "Bronyism". "Pegasister" is the female equivalent which is sometimes used. See also: Fan Community Nicknames on the Internet (2005-2010, 2011-2015), Fandalorians, Forumites, Ringnuts, Planeteers, Trekkie, Whoovians. For the Encylopedic entry on Bronies see Fan Communities on the Internet (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).

Hello! :) I am just letting you know that we had a similar topic about bronies going down in history, so I went ahead and merged your thread with this one. Also, you had originally misplaced your thread by posting it in the General Discussion subforum which is for all non-MLP related chat. All talk regarding the brony fandom belongs right here in the Sugarcube Corner section. Thanks!
