craft Family Creativity

So the other day I shared a MLP cake my sister made. Over the last 4 years she has fallen in love with crafting homemade cakes, dinners, desserts, and crocheted items. This prompted me to find all the pictures we have taken of her creations, as well as some of the other projects my family members have created.

*Unless otherwise stated: ALL OF THESE ARE LEGITIMATELY FROM MY FAMILY! NO JOKE. My participation has been photography...haha and taste-testing! :muffins:
**I've edited over most of the names she has written onto the cakes

====================================================

I'd love to see what other things your families have created, if you have pictures of course! So feel free to share what you can!

PIRATE CAKE, Cupcakes, & Cannons

This was the first cake that she made so it's a little rough around the edges! We had a pirate party for Halloween 3 years ago (we've actually had 3 now...we like pirates! )

The Captain Barbosa toy on the deck, the masts, sails and string-rail, and flags were the only non-edible parts.

My father created the little cannons and cannon ball piles out of various candies (Tootsie Rolls, mini Oreos, Hershey Buttons, Sixlets, Milky Ways and I think Whoppers)

Wow, I really wish I was that motivated. I would be in the middle of anything and I would end up telling my family to pretty much go away whenever the idea of making crafts comes up.

Nice cakes you made there though!

My family doesn't create anything but I LOVE the Pirates of the Caribbean cake!

She made another one this last Halloween that was a Treasure Map. I'll get it up here soon.

Haha I didn't make any of these! haha I wish! I just get to eat most of them, or at least taste-test while she made them or got the scraps after the parties if I missed them! One of my sisters has made each of these, excepting the two gingerbread houses. The majority of the stuff here will be from the one sister though.

*tummy growls* o.o omg they look delicious

They are so tasty. 100% homemade deliciousness!

These really are gorgeous.  I don't bake.  I hate baking.  I love cooking where I can throw all the ingredients together and not follow a recipe.

The twins cake is absolutely stunning.

I am totally in awe of anyone who can do this sort of thing.  Kudos to your family.

I love these. :D I like the uniqueness and the creativity of the pastries. Especially the beach cupcake, I’ve always wanted to make one of my own as a kid. :P The treasure chest, the cannon and the crotchet hats are also cute and well-made.

Besides Halloween, do you and your family make cakes and party items (such as the cannon) for… well, other parties or celebrations? :P

I’d like to see more from you. :)

Wow - those look both delicious and amazing - I want the Rainbow Dash one!!  :(

If I did get that cake I wouldn't eat the Rainbow Dash - I'd place it next to my bed - even it does go moldy, stinky with flies buzzing around it - it'd stay there forever, and nopony would dare separate me from it.

And if someone did take it...

Eh well. I'll stick with basic, factory-made, chocolate cake - still tastes ok.  :P

Thanks!!

Well, my dad is the party-maker, so we've MOSTLY had Pirate-parties the last few years. However, he's put together a Beach Boys themed party for a bunch of his old friends from California, and we did a 1950's themed party for my mom's 50th birthday (I was a "soda jerk" and made flavored sodas for everybody and my dad built a "bar" for me to use in the backyard.) We've done Christmas parties for our church where my mom made costumes and my dad built a "well" that actually had the punch in it. My dad made a church-related float for a local parade. We also host a neighborhood barbecue on the 4th of July / Independence Day. For the Pirate theme my dad has made the Cannon, the Chest, his own cutlass (which the handle in the Treasure Map cake is actually made to look identical to), and we decorate the entire inside of the house with pirate stuff.

I have pictures of most of these things. I just am trying to upload a couple at a time so as not to bombard my own thread with a thousand pictures each time! haha I'll get some of the non-cake stuff up next!

You wouldn't have to worry about RD going moldy, and you wouldn't WANT to eat it anyway, seeing as the ponies were just toys placed on the cake! haha As for factory-made cakes...You would never want one again if you got to have her cakes! Costco has some OKAY  cakes that I liked until I had my sister's!

Does your family do commissions? Because they'd make a lot of money off of those. :)

~Ha! We've tried convincing my sister to start a small business or work at a local bakery, but her cakes are just so much better tasting and looking (in our opinion!). She makes the cakes for friends and family and only charges for cost of materials with a little extra for her time. But she does get overwhelmed sometimes and has said she doesn't want to have to be baking all day, every day.

~Her crocheted stuff she actually has taken commissions from friends and she has an Etsy account for it, but I think it's currently in "vacation" mode!

~My dad's party stuff he creates for himself, and the other stuff he's made has been voluntary with church activities or the like.

Sorry for all the spoilers! This is a deluge of pictures from some of the parties or other non-cake creations!! haha

Not necessarily Owlowiscious, but owls nonetheless! Two different owl cakes and some owl cupcakes. The large, single-owl cake was made by my sister about 2 years ago. The second, two-level cake was made last year.

my cousin tried to read a cupcake book for a birthday party attachicon.gifducks.jpg

Ahahaha! Sad day!

I love seeing things like that though! I've always applauded my sister for being able to succeed with her re-creations of things she finds on Pinterest where others fall short, and also for her pure creativity that she uses to design and make these! Sadly, those other ducks made me think of this:

Apparently my sister made all three of these this last weekend.

She didn't make the cupcakes, but she did the frosting!

Root Beer Float Cakes

Does anyone like Root Beer floats?? My sister made these for another of our siblings for her birthday. The frosting was originally going to be blended throughout the cake, but the birthday girl didn't want that much frosting in her system, so it became the topping instead. We had at least 8 different brands of Root Beer for a blind-taste guessing competition, as well as for actual root beer floats after the cake.
