  1. The first game came out of nowhere, it had beautiful environments, unique game play, and a fantastic story told in a most unusual method. Its one of my absolute favorite games of this generation.
  2. Was there a sale at the "interesting" store? lol Im ready for another Spike episode, the poor little guy has a habit of doing one of three things: Having the episode be about him, being the butt of the joke, or not appearing at all. I for one am ready for him to choose option 1 again.
  3. I never meant to suggest her to have super powers. but say, her eyesight causes her to misread a recipe, making the recipe better in the process. Something simple like that. Im not trying to beat the whole "handicapped people have it harder so they are better people" idea into anyone's head, its just the formula of the show where a perceived wrong is usually proven right in the end, and everyone learns not to judge so quickly.
  4. *Looks over the list, doesnt see Rocky Horror Picture Show* Son, I am disappoint.
  5. Repo is one of my all time favorite musicals ever. A friend of mine online sent me the soundtrack months before the dvd came out. I knew every song word for word (at least that was on the soundtrack, 18 out of 50 something songs) and I loved every minute of it. It is my job to show this movie to every friend I possibly can and spread the word of its awesomeness.
  6. Hasbro could redeem themselves with everyone with a Derpy centric episode. Take Derpy, let her be herself, and give a positive message about acceptance, and everyone would be served what they are looking for. Showing Derpy being accepted as herself could never be taken as offensive, and the fans of the show would have their beloved Mail Mare back. I am all for the story idea posted earlier, the only thing I would add is maybe have a scene with Derpy wishing to be just like everyone else, only for her difference to be the key to solving a big dilemma. This could be the catalyst for the letter to Celestia.
  7. I'll admit, I havent been a fan very long. I'm basically catching up to everyone else on brony-ness. But, for the short time I have been a fan, Ive been in love with Derpy. Derpy harkens back to a better time for cartoons. I'll be honest, most cartoons these days are horrible. They go for the easy joke, or just being loud and obnoxious. MLP, on the other hand draws inspiration from the likes of Looney Tunes (Pinkie Le Pew, anyone?), it presents itself as well written and thought provoking, and it helps spread a very important lesson, love and tolerance. So for the show to take that message and change it to Love and Tolerate as long as you are exactly like me is just heartbreaking. I am sad to say I live in a world where something like Derpy is offensive. At this rate, we will never get a clumsy, likable character in any media. The only way to avoid offensiveness is if everyone is exactly the same, with the same abilities and characteristics.
  8. #savederpy or how I learned to love and tolerate everyone, unless they are different. http://chimicherrychonga.blogspot.com/2012/02/save-derpy-hooves.html

hey, good job assholes! you raged about a nonexistent issue and made a unnecessary and false claim to the creators of the show, just to prove that you are right!

now kindly go fuck yourself with a cactus.

Its understandable. I myself am angry over the whole debacle. I appreciate your passion and hope we can both find comfort in the community during this trying time.

  9. Im just gonna put it out there: Im a member of one of the most misunderstood and slandered fandoms ever. I am a juggalo. My husband bought their album The Great Milenko on a whim, after a friend of his started explaining the backstory to their albums called the Joker's Cards. At first I tolerated it, then I realized one day I was humming a couple of the songs, then I was mouthing the lyrics to a couple other songs a few days later. I urged him to get another album, and the rest is history. We own almost every album theyve made, as well as other artists signed to their label, Psychopathic Records. One similarity between juggalo and brony, its about the community. One of the more popular chants at their concerts is Fam-a-ly, Fam-a-ly.
  10. My husband bought me Skyrim for my birthday, the version that comes with a statue, I have played it nonstop since November. Ive beaten the main story once, restarted, and now Ive done so much in it without going anywhere near the main story. I also recently started Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning, and I am enjoying it a lot.
  11. I find it easier to treat it like a bandaid: Just say it and get it over with. Expect to answer some questions, but real friends will understand.
  12. *cracks neck* Take notes, folks! Nay Nay Strohmeyer: 3 parts Cranberry Juice, 3 parts Sprite, 1 part whiskey (Doesnt matter the brand but I prefer Jack Daniels) Back Alley Dr Pepper: 5 parts Dr Pepper, 1 part Lemon or Lime juice, 1 part Southern Comfort Fiery Pepper Root Beer Floating Upside Down: 2 scoops of ice cream, 20 oz Root Beer, 3 shots of Jack Daniels Tennessee Morning: 1 cup of coffee, 1 shot of Jack Daniels (If you cant tell, Jack is my favorite liquor)
  13. My favorite is a Spike show, Bar Rescue. The premise is a failing bar brings in Jon Taffert, a man with over 30 years of experience in running bars and like venues. While the show does fall for some of the typical reality show tropes (fights, emotional breakthroughs, confession rooms) its really more about the science behind a successful entertainment venue. For example, cooling the lines between a keg of beer and the tap it comes out of can save around 15% of the keg, meaning 15% more of the keg that can be sold. Cool stuff like that.
  14. As I mentioned before in another thread, Pilot episodes are almost always different from the rest of the show. Pilots are a dry run, there are no expectations to meet, and no flaws have been discovered that need buffing. After the pilot is shown to the studio heads and a control group of normal television viewers, thats when notes are given and things start being changed. I can give you a prime example: The first episode of House. It's all sepia colored, House visits with his patient and waxes philosophical about how you can't die with dignity, there is no sexual tension between him and Cuddy, in short, it's an episode of House in name only. You can see the beginnings of the show as it was in its hey day starting from episode 2. And really, in a lot of ways, MLP:FIM is like that. Twilight, while still being the serious one, is NEVER that serious again. (Except for Lesson Zero, but thats a different story.) Pinkie Pie, while still sporadic and unpredictable, doesn't talk quite as fast as the first episode again. You see far less of the Apple Family, but thats explained as they were there for a reunion. Rarity becomes less about giving and more about being a fasionista and a drama queen. Rainbow is still shown laying around on clouds, but she doesn't really have to be goaded into doing things anymore, especially if its a chance to show off. And Fluttershy is no longer reduced to choked squeeking sounds just from meeting someone new. Characterization marches on.
  15. I dont have a favorite, persay, just 3 of the characters that I prefer more (Pinkie Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash). I still like Apple Jack Twilight and Rarity, Im just more inclined to those 3.
  16. I would imagine you can expect quite a few more episodes than 13. Historically, Saturday Morning cartoons have a MUCH longer run than other shows, Batman The Animated Series had 65 episodes (The number needed to enter syndication). If we are looking at a run of 26 or so episodes for three seasons, that will get MLP into syndication, allowing the studio to make more money from the show.
  17. Almost any show suffers from this. Pilot episodes are crafted and completed before ANY public opinion on the program exists. Typically, the pilot is played for the studio heads, and a control group of normal television viewers. Following this, a census of the group and the studio heads generates notes on what was liked, what was lacking, etc etc. Thats why the first episode of almost ANY show stands out as different from all the rest, even sometimes the second episode. Sorry for the tangent, On topic: I basically got into it while stumbling youtube one day, I was bored, knew about the brony culture, and figured I would look into what the big deal was. Ironically, the first episode I watched was the first episode I was just describing. A couple weeks later I was sitting down to lunch, and flipping channels when I caught an hour of the show on The Hub. Ever since, I plan my lunch around watching the show.
  18. I'm of the opinion that from the very beginning the animators and all have added sight gags specifically for the parents who watch the show with their kids. Ive gone back through the cartoons I watched as a kid in the 80's and 90's, and I find a ton of references I didn't get then that I get now. Doing things like this is a large part of the appeal for older fans (us), at least in my opinion.
  19. Since I work and go to college, I dont have any time for cooking. My husband sees to feeding himself and his uncle with stuff from the microwave most nights.
  20. Nah, its not free, (unless you know where to go online) I cant seem to gather up enthusiasm for this one. I mean its obvious Cena is gonna win, hes not going to lose a month before the big match theyve been touting for a year. And then the Smackdown EC match is a joke, of course Bryan is gonna keep the belt.
  21. The day they manage to hide Derpy as well as South Park used to hide aliens in the episodes is the day we all watch the show in frame by frame mode.
  22. Pauses in shows rarely phase me, cause I tend to move on to my next obsession. I consume entertainment like most people consume dinner. Also, I still have several episodes Ive never seen, so Im just waiting on Hub to roll them around.
  23. Ive never been one to hide the things I like, and I am prone to liking things most of the world hates, like bad movies, ICP, Nickelback, etc, so I have developed a rather thick skin in regards to random hatred toward something I like. In the specific case of MLP, I tend to tell them "Someone needs to learn the magic of Friendship and Tolerance" and leave it at that.
  24. I think the simple act of the move being in the episode was a call out to bronies, even if "brohoof" couldnt exactly be used. Who knows, maybe Hoof Bump will replace Brohoof as the name of the move?
