  1. It really depends on the relevance of the romance to the plot. I prefer it when the romance doesn't take the foreground much, just builds up in a natural way, and then ties in to the plot in a meaningful way. If it's just there for the sake of it, I'd prefer it to be taken out because it just detracts from the movie/story. Speaking as someone who only writes stories that include some kind of shipping, I'm definitely not against it on principle.
  2. So is Pony Life the stop-motion videos, or one with 'normal' animation? I've seen some pictures of the Mane 6 with different designs, but that's really it. If it's the former, I'll pass on this one. If it's something yet to come out, I'll definitely give it a chance. I can deal with a wackier version of MLP, considering I'm one of the few people who liked Teen Titans Go. If it's the same entirely non-serious butchering of the setting and the characters, I'm in.
  3. I...have no idea what I'm watching, here. I can get behind low-stakes, comedic videos, but...it's like everyone's been lobotomized or something. What happened to the characterization? And this is coming from someone who actually thought Teen Titans Go was funny.
  4. Of course not, no more than playing any sport or non-video game makes you a loser. Generalizations like that are never correct anyway, there's always exceptions. But the vast majority of people I know who play video games aren't losers.
  5. Definitely the Dark Souls games, especially DS3. Controls are incredibly responsive and for the most part I really only die because I suck, not because the game is being cheap. The only exception to that is High Lord Wolnir because it's a gimmicky shit boss that's ten times worse than Bed of Chaos ever was.
  6. I've died roughly twenty times now trying to kill Darkeater Midir in Dark Souls 3, to the point where I've actually stopped playing for a bit not because it was getting too frustrating (on the whole I actually think DS3 is a very non-frustrating game), but just because the challenge was kicking my ass.
  7. God no, I'd hate to have all that attention on me.
  8. 1. Totally Spies 2. W.I.T.C.H. 3. Everything cute
  9. Of course it is. Anyone can ask anyone out, the thing is to accept it if the answer is no and not get creepy or pushy about it.
  10. I think it's a stupid distinction made by people who like to feel better about themselves. Who the hell cares what you do as long as you're happy with yourself? Be whoever you want to be, no more, no less.

    health Sports?

Fencing twice a week, gym twice a week. I also do tournaments quite regularly ranging from small tournaments to large international ones.
  12. Not even close IMO. It's a TV show that happens to feature colorful ponies. That's it. Sure, there's a stigma attached to it that somewhat resembles the one LGBT people face, but the backlash isn't nearly the same, unless the people in question immediately assume that liking MLP makes you gay, thus unleashing the same kind of bullshit on you that 'really' coming out does.
  13. Yup. I like Avatar (Last Airbender) better, as well as Gravity Falls and Star vs. the Forces of Evil. Seasons 3 and 4 of Korra also beat out MLP for me. Aside from that there are plenty of anime I consider to be better, and if non-animated shows count I've got Dark and Haunting of Hill House near the top of the list. And those are just the ones off the top of my head. I like MLP, but it's not nearly the best show I've seen.
  14. I thought there actually was an animated series thread, but I can't find it anymore, so I guess it does?
  15. Absolutely nothing. I never did any homework and I sure as hell wouldn't do it if I redid high school. Although since I'm a lot more confident now than i was back then, I'd probably have fewer issues with the dozens of dickheads there.
  16. I don't really know why other people like them so much, but I've always been a shipper and in some series, characters just have the kind of chemistry that makes me want to see them in an actual romantic relationship. Ever since I watched K-ON, that's mostly been girl-girl pairings. I guess it's partially because I myself am a straight male, so I find it quite easy to see attractive traits in girls. That also makes it easier for me to write a story in which the characters are believably attracted to each other.
  17. I don't do it at all. Even if I'd know someone IRL I still wouldn't. I'm mainly here to read general opinions on things, or occasionally discuss something. I don't really follow one or more specific persons here.
  18. Since there seems to be a thread for movies, games, and music, I figured one for regular TV series would be in order. (I searched for an existing one but didn't find it, feel free to delete this one if it does turn out to be duplicate). My unpopular opinion is that Black Mirror is a vastly overrated and pretentious series with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. I honestly can't figure out if they're trying to be speculative, over the top, or something else. If they're trying to be funny, they fail because it takes itself too seriously. If they're trying to be speculative and subversive, they fail because they're far too pretentious.
  19. I'm not sure if it's an unpopular opinion or not, but given the positive RottenTomatoes and IMDB scores of the movie, it probably is. Chicago is an absolutely terrible movie.
  20. Until Gen 7, always Water. When I first started playing when Gen 1 had just come out, I liked Blastoise best of the three fully evolved starters, because he had fricking cannons in his shell. Then I learned about Type matchups and the fact that Water types can usually learn one Ice move or another, and that your rival will always pick Grass if you pick Water, and I just stuck with that ever since then. I only changed in Gen 7, because I love cats and Litten was absolutely adorable. I did get both Sun and Moon, though, and in Moon I did pick Popplio. I sadly don't have a Switch, so I haven't played Gen 8 yet.
  21. If it's my work, yes. If I dislike the person in question, yes. If it harms the original creator and I know it does, yes. In all other cases, I wouldn't. In a school scenario I almost certainly wouldn't bother to report it. God knows I've handed in my fair share of copy-pasted essays in my day.
  22. I don't believe in either, really, but I think Hell would be a place where you're doomed to never succeed. You'll always get second place, things will always just fail at the last moment or go wrong at the worst possible moment, something like that. I could say 'eternal torture', but I'd imagine Hell to be a bit more creative. Heaven could be many things. I often envision it like some kind of New Game+ in a game, where you basically start again from childhood, but with all the knowledge and skills you've acquired through your first life, and possibly sharing that New Game+ universe with your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband there. Optionally it would also guarantee that you'd never get sick or injured so you could literally do whatever the hell you want, and take different routes with each subsequent life. Alternatively I see it as being transported outside of time and space, and given the knowledge and ability to construct your own universe from nothingness, essentially becoming a god. In this case as well, I'd have provisions built in to be able to visit your significant other.
  23. About many, many things, mostly being a successful writer and being able to quit my regular job.
  24. Very competitive. I absolutely hate losing and I always have. I also can't stand games that are based on luck because you can't reliably win them. In real life games and sports, I'm also dead set on winning honestly, because it wouldn't mean anything otherwise. I'm only competitive in things I care about, though. I wouldn't be at all competitive, for instance, in a football (soccer to Americans) competition, because I don't like the sport, I suck at it, and I can't be bothered to learn it. I also don't care about being the best at my job. Merely 'adequate' will do.
  25. The absolute best one I've read is My Best Friend's Kinda Hot... by Such A Chlorbag. It's a Starlight/Trixie shipping fanfic, and everything about is exactly right. The characterizations are spot on, the descriptions are amazing, the pacing's great, it's just excellent.
