  1. I don't talk to nearly as many people as I do on here, since I prefer being by myself. I'm also much less likely to actually engage in a discussion since I usually consider it too much of a hassle to actually defend my viewpoints. I am just as pretentious IRL as I am here, though, that part is completely real.
  2. Personally, I just use it in the same way I'd use religious exclamations: as a normal remark. I don't actually use it in the context of its 'homosexual' meaning, nor its original 'happy' meaning, in the same vein that I don't use 'dumb' or 'lame' to disparage people who can't speak or paraplegics, respectively. Basically, South Park got it right with their discussion over the meaning of the word 'fag' (in the spoiler tags).
  3. I consider myself to be hilarious, but my humor is extremely dark and offensive so most people probably wouldn't find it as funny. That said, I've heard jokes on TV which were way worse (and way better) than what I can come up with, so even in my preferred genre I'm not that funny, I guess.
  4. Albert Heijn, Plus, and Jumbo, in order of distance. All of them are pretty close, though.
  5. I don't know. I once scored 130 on an IQ test and I pick things up quickly, but I can't help but feel that everyone else is at least as smart as I am, and probably smarter. I'm very interested in stuff like history, biology, and physics, but I suck at math so my interest in those things is purely limited to the pop-science side of things. I'm probably just average.
  6. I'm loyal to no one but myself. Plus, if someone is out to enslave and dominate humanity, I'm not dumb to believe that I'd be exempted if I slavishly followed the commands of some evil overlord. I would probably end up being killed the moment I'd say 'no'.
  7. It depends on the situation and what exactly I'm trying to accomplish, as well as whether or not my plans are long-term or short-term. If I wouldn't have to worry about the long term, I'd definitely go with fear. In that situation the greater freedom of action and not being immediately held accountable for your actions because people fear you would be a great asset. At the same time, PR wouldn't be much of an issue since you're pretty much openly evil at that point. Long term, though, I think being loved would ultimately be better. It would take a lot of time to build up people's trust, but managing to inspire true loyalty in people would go a long way to securing your power base. At the same time, being well-liked would make it harder for your opposition to raise up dissent against you.
  8. I've always been in the camp of 'do whatever you want'. If you're getting married and one person wants to take the name of the other, fine. The only thing I'm against is someone else deciding that you should change your name. If you're going to do it, it should be your own choice. My girlfriend is definitely keeping her name, and if we ever have kids they'll have her name too. On the flipside, I personally wouldn't change my name. I am who I am, and I see absolutely no use in taking someone else's name for any reason.
  9. Nearsighted, I've got -3.50 in both in eyes. It's been stable for a couple of years now, though.
  10. I have a red 2008 Citroen C1. Three cylinders, 0-100kmh in around 14 seconds, and absolutely amazingly useful. It's the 5-door version so I can easily take my fencing gear with me, and I even managed to have four passengers plus their luggage in it once. It's full of dents and scratches, only one of which is actually my fault. Most people would probably consider it a piece of crap, but I absolutely love it, in no small part because it used to be my mom's before she died.
  11. Pokémon will always have a bigger impact on me because I've continued to play the main series games through the years, as well as still liking the anime for its relentless optimism while still being somewhat focused on the competition (although I've not seen the Sun & Moon anime or beyond). That said, I do like Digimon a lot as well, especially Adventure, 02, and Tamers. I've never played any of the games, though. Design-wise, I think a lot of the Digimon look cooler than a lot of the Pokémon, but both franchises have some great (and some terrible) designs. Digimon does slightly win out, though, because of designs like Devimon, Megidramon, and Wargreymon. Devimon's actually made such an impression on me that when I think of Voldemort, I see Devimon.
  12. I'm awful at taking pictures, but this is mine:
  13. This is the first time I actually disliked an episode. Usually when an episode isn't great I'm merely indifferent, but this one just sits really wrong with me. Twilight wants to win this game. It's incredibly important to her. Pinkie Pie is just there to have fun with her friend. There's nothing wrong with playing a competitive game for fun, but when there's something at stake there's nothing more frustrating than having teammates who aren't in it to win. At the same time, Twilight's 'solution' of getting everyone else disqualified is just pathetic. I understand her anger, but winning like that isn't winning at all. The only thing worse than losing is winning by cheating. Everything Twilight and Pinkie did was superbly irritating, and when Twilight got Pinkie disqualified and was in turn prevented from even playing by Sunburst it wasn't cathartic, just more annoyance. Twilight should've told Pinkie before they began what this game meant to her, and Pinkie (who even said she knew Twilight wanted to win) should have made way more of an effort to actually take the game seriously. Also, the whole 'getting too caught up trying to win' thing was done much better by Fall Weather Friends way back in Season One. For the first time, this was an episode that has absolutely zero redeeming qualities for me.
  14. Honestly, I was with Dash most of the time. She doesn't care about cheerleading, so Twilight really shouldn't have made her the one responsible for training them. Smolder was dead on when she said that Rainbow could make anything she cares about awesome, but she shouldn't have to care about anything. Even when you're trying to help people you like, if you don't care about the subject it's better to get someone else to do it instead. It would have worked much better if Twilight would've been the one learning the lesson that making people do stuff they don't like just doesn't work. Dash solved the issue well enough in the end, but I still just didn't really feel this episode.
  15. TV Tropes and YouTube, depending on whether I'm at work or at home.
  16. On normal weekdays: "Uugh, here we go again." My working Mondays, and in my head only: "Wake up in the morning and I pull the covers over my head, hey-oh" Weekends: "Good morning." (to my girlfriend)
  17. In a way. I used to be good friends with a guy I knew from college. I still consider him a great guy. Despite this, I haven't spoken to him in ages. I'm not going into detail out of respect for him, but the bottom line is that we disagreed about how often we should hang out. It sounds lame, and there's a lot more to it than that, but that is the short version. Ultimately, I got fed up with it, ended the conversation, and didn't really speak to him since. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to say now even if I did. In this particular case, both saying something and saying nothing would come across as being selfish, odd as that sounds.
  18. The original Lion King movie is my favorite movie of all time. When I came back from watching the new one I immediately went on to watch the old one to renew my admiration of it. There's so many small things that the old movie does better. I won't spoil it for people who haven't seen the new one, but I fully agree with everyone who calls the new movie 'soulless'. The animation is absolutely stunning, but the realism killed the magic completely, and many of the jokes fall flat compared to the original. It's definitely not bad, but it does lack every single thing that made the original movie legendary.
  19. I've used TunnelBear and Nord, and I'd say go with Nord for its versatility. VPN is a good thing to have in this day and age anyway, for a variety of reasons. Nord will most likely allow you to do whatever you want to do, be it circumventing geoblocking or merely safeguard your privacy. Do be aware that some services (like DAZN, if you're into boxing) still won't work in such a manner because they also check the country their payments will come from in order to prevent people from getting around geoblocking. If you're in doubt, try to see if they offer a free, limited data option to try it out. If it works, you can switch to a full, paid plan.
  20. The guy next door once came in through a window that wasn't closed properly and stole our laptop and my bicycle. We knew it was him because we always had trouble with that guy. The police even knew him from earlier things, but since they had no evidence they couldn't bust him. Other than that I thought I was going to get mugged once on my paper round. I'd just thrown the paper into the mail slot at a library. The wall with the mail box was at a right angle to the wall with the front door, so I basically had walls on either side of me, when a guy holding a bread knife came walking up to me. My first thought was that I was going to have to hand over my wallet and phone, and my second thought was about how I'd try to block the knife and run. Imagine my surprise when the guy asked me if I'd found a wallet. When I shakily told him I hadn't, he just thanked me and walked off, telling me that if I found it, I should take it to the cops because it had a lot of money in it. Probably one of the most surreal moments I've been in.
  21. I live in The Hague, in the Netherlands. I used to live in a small village in the east of the country, and we moved west when I was around 14 (For me, that was a move quite literally across the country, for an American it'd probably be equivalent to driving to a neighboring city). I'm a programmer, but I'm not really very good at it. I mainly do it because it's a steady job and I need to pay bills somehow until the day I can make it as a writer. That day is a long way off, though, because I'm also spending a lot of time on working out and fencing. Tournaments and training take up a lot of my free time, and I like watching Youtube videos as well on my off days, so my writing takes a backseat far more often than it really should. I have my own house, where I live with my girlfriend of 10,5 years. It's a small place; literally half our bedroom is taken up by our bed. Even so, we have all the space we need. I've got my own computer room (which, being an introvert, I really need) which doubles as our fencing storage room. Currently, my PC is in the middle of the room without its side panels, because I'm waiting for my new parts to come back from the shop once they've figured out which part of it is broken. If I'm ever moving to a bigger house, I'd like to get a cat. We had cats when I still lived with my parents, but one died and the other is still with them. Getting a cat now wouldn't be fair to the cat, since we're hardly ever at home and it wouldn't be able to go out and enjoy itself, so I'll wait until I live somewhere where it can be free to stalk around outside.
  22. Personally, I eat it because it's absolutely delicious. From a biological standpoint, humans are omnivores. While it's true we could certainly stand to eat a lot less of it than we do, certain nutrients are very difficult to obtain from plant matter. Again, though, nutritious or not, I love the taste of meat and I'm not going to give it up any time soon.
  23. Seems about right to me. I really didn't think the movie was anything special. I'd probably rate it somewhere around that score, myself.
  24. Twilight Sparkle: Twi Applejack: AJ Rainbow Dash: Dash or Dashie Rarity: Rares or Gems Pinkie Pie: Pinkie Fluttershy: Flutters Sunset Shimmer: Sunny Starlight Glimmer: Glimglam Trixie: Trix
  25. I think they should focus on G5. As much as I love FiM, it's better to end it while it's still good than to drag it on forever. The characters have all reached the logical conclusions of their personal arcs, and now all that's needed is to give them a worthy sendoff.
