I used to play WoW back in the day with many of my friends in the class. We had a guild and everything. So one say, I said the following in response to a joke:

 

"/laugh"

 

I said it facetiously because the joke really wasn't that funny, but the others thought I said that in place of laughing like a normal person. Of course they didn't believe me and started "/joke"ing about it for a good while.

 

So yeah guys, don't do it. Laugh, give a withering look or make a terrible pun in response.

No. Kind of feels like anyone who does probably forgot what LOL stands for or why it was invented in the first place. I've heard of hipsters saying it ironically when something is not funny, but that just reinforces what I just said in the previous sentence, and makes me want to go "You're doing it wrong!"

Yes, but I don't do it seriously. I say things like Swag, Yolo, Awesome Sauce, Lol, Ham Sandwich, Ermahgersh, Impossibru, and anything else in that vicinity very jokingly.

 

About the only words I use seriously that are even in that realm are Oh Celestia(cause some of my friends are Christians and always get on me for using the lords name in vain, whatcha gonna do, I'm not religious -_- ) , Sweet Apple Sauce, and any other food related words used in mlp cause they're fun. Oh, and Okie Dokie Lokie.

Often I'll just say "Hah!" or "Haha, yeah and..." if something cracks me up though, I'll submit to using "LMAO"
