Damn you pollsters for making me choose between Rarity and Sunset Shimmer.  It's like asking me to choose between cutting off my left hand or my right.  I'm right handed so I'd prefer to keep that one, but damn it, I really don't want to lose either of them!

I think originality goes a long way in making someone, or in this case, somepony, attractive. Having a character you know to be unique is something of great importance in making that initial connection - she is yours, and not like anyone else's. (Except, in this case, those who share best pony )

Rarity's uniqueness strays from even her sources of inspiration. She is a drama queen depending on your outlook of that trope, but yet she geniunely cares for those around her and would run to hell and back barefoot (hoofed?) in order to help her friends. That's just who she is. She's got that chilling voicework done by the ever-so-talented Tabitha St. Germain to aid her already impeccable and engaging characterization and complexity as a character.

Rarity is one of the shining examples of what makes this show great - she is not like other characters you see. She doesn't just go shopping, she sets her own trends and works her flank off to achieve her goals. She doesn't rely on anyone but herself - she runs her own business and has been shown to be able to rescue herself in sticky situations, despite many "feminine" characters relying on assistance.

 

That's just Rarity - uniqueness, work ethic, independence, drive, and mental strength. She's got that cute factor that makes you want to take care of her, yet she isn't just totally dependent on anyone and actually runs her own business and can take care of her own family and juggle all these responisibilities while still managing to pretty much snap necks as she walks past others with her sheer beauty.

That's the kinda pony that I find attractive Beautiful, yet strong and independent, yet soft and cuddly at the same time. Sounds like a most attractive pony, does it not?

Why is Fluttershy still losing to Octavia?!?

 

As much as I love Tavi, she's just a background pony. Fluttershy, has personality AND looks....both of which are very attractive attributes about her(among other things). Tavi has no real "Character" to her...and so isn't as attractive as Fluttershy.

 

I'm sure she'll pull ahead...right?
