Here, I'll tell you how I found out about them.

Gather around, children.

SO, my cousin was all fangirling about MLP. I was like "So what, why is it so great" and then she gasped.

"DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK OF MY LITTLE PONY THAT WAY"

I was like "ok"

Later, I decided to see what was the big deal.

I watched the first episode and decided not to admit I liked it.

And I watched another.

and another.

The next day, I was fangirling with my cousin. yay.png sleep.png:)

It came up in a conversation with a friend at school. It basically went like this:

"Hey, you know what a Brony is?"

"Um, no. Elaborate?"

"A guy/older girl who likes My Little Pony."

"Are you kidding? Sounds a bit stupid to me."

"I don't think so, the show actually isn't that bad."

"You're kidding."

After that, I constantly gave this friend of mine a bit of a hard time for it. But mentions of the FiM fandom started springing up all over the place, so I decided it was high-tide time I found out what all the hubbub was about. It was nearing the end of summer break that year, so about 2/3rds into it I decided to give the show a try. I saw episode one, enjoyed it, tryed to convince myself I must be screwed in the head, and went on to episode two anyways. By the end of that week, I had seen the entire series available up to that point.

I was watching a YoutubePoop from one on my favorite poopers, and it had ponies in it. And then, checking the comments, I saw people going all "ARE YOU A BRONY?". That got me curious, and I went to check it out.

I won't be a complete brony until I get a Thunderlane plushie and go to a convention.

The topic of your thread is quite similar to this thread already here, so I have merged them. Also, topics about the brony community in general belong here in Sugarcube Corner, so please keep this in mind. :)

Sometime in January or Febuary, my best gaming friend started singing the chorus of Rainbow Factory while we were playing the Toad Factory course in Mario Kart Wii. Oddly enough, I had read the lyrics in a chatroom in the past (and liked them) and thus recognized the lyrics right away, even beginning to sing along. I had never bothered to check the origin of the lyrics until that day. When I got home from our gaming session, I looked up "in the rainbow factory where your fears and horrors com true" , though I might have confused a word or two. I tried to not automatically reject it when the only results were my little pony related (I had the same inclination toward pastel colored cartoons as might be expected for a teenage male). I read the fic, loved it; watched the RF music video, loved it; and eventually found AuroraDawn's sequal, Pegasus Device. I thought something along the lines of "Screw that stereotype. I'm at least giving the show a chance" After listening to the song several times, I eventually decided to find the time and channel for the show. HUB's website led the way. My first episode was One Bad Apple. The start of the episode with Apple Bloom worried over what to wear was a bit discouraging but I could tell it was probably an exception to a rule of being awesome. The contraption they rigged the float with confirmed, for me, that the stereotype was ABSOLUTELY wrong, at least as applied to MLP:FiM. This show was awesome. I set my DVR to record every episode and watched them as they came. My dad, not realizing I liked the show (and me still being a closet brony... it had only been a week or two), deleted the MLP folder and the series setting. I decided to watch the rest of the series online. I loved almost every episode, the exceptions (if existant) being The Best Night Ever, and some unexistant or unknown episode. I'm hooked. Also, I WANT A FLUGELHORN!

So I thought I would ask everpony about the first time they saw the show or was introduced to the fandom.

When I first got word of bronies, I was a Furry at the time and didn't really think much of the Brony craze. I thought to my self "Man I would never watch a show for little girls."

The first time I saw the show I was baby sitting for my best friend and his daughter was watching it. I didn't really get to interested the first time I saw it and just shrugged it off.

The second time I saw the show is when I became hooked on it.

I forget the name of the episode but it was where pinkie pie's "pinkie sense" was first introduced.

I saw pinkie pie's logic and how it was just angering twily so much to the point where I saw this.

TwilightAflame_9839.jpg

I swear I saw the apocalypse pony that day lol.

After that Episode the show was forever sitting in the back of my mind.

It got to the point were I said "Ok I will watch the first few episodes and see what its all about."

The rest is history.

So... tell me about how you became a Brony.

For me, it was my sister-in-law. She kept telling me that I'd love it. I eventually decided to go ahead and watch a couple of episodes with her. Figured she'd drop it after that.

So we watched the first two episodes. Then the next one. And the next one. And the next.

I was hooked. Have been ever since.

Me, I got hooked through an entirely different fandom: The Elder Scrolls game series. I was just derping around on a Skyrim forums, writing things and generally being empty without MLP (though I didn't know it yet), when a friend of mine posted a link to a youtube video in his status. It was a sped-up version of a song called "Nord Mead" by MiracleofSound, and I liked it, so I looked up the original song. There I found a pony version, and though I at first ignored it and listened to the original (which was magnificient), it always sat in the back of my head, nagging me for reasons I did not understand. So, I watched the video, entitled "Pony Mead" by YouTube user kiwipoo, and, since I had never before even heard of bronies, I thought it was all a joke. The description made me initially question this, but I soon got over these doubts, believing that no one older than five would ever watch My Little Pony. I watched it again and again, laughing at how cartoon ponies were singing about alcohol (I am easily amused), until I finally got around to reading the comments two days later. It was at that point that I realized that these people actually enjoyed the show. Now, I'm an open-minded person, so I just thought to myself, "Hey, live and let live," and I shrugged mentally, which is like regular shrugging except I don't actually shrug. But now the existence of such an odd fandom was nagging at the back of my head, so I looked up the first episode that night. Lemme just say that that was, by far, the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. I enjoyed the show, though I initially found it odd that I could like such a thing. After leaving on such a cliffhanger, I had to watch the second episode. Deciding that the show was pretty decent (except for the godawful opening sequence), I watched the third episode. By the fifth episode I knew I was a brony. There you go, that's my becoming-a-brony story. Anyone else?

Well more or less it was me hearing about it online and how "bad" it and its fans where, so me being curious me decided to give it some checking out, at first I watched some clips including the first one I watched being a scene from "Stare master" with guiles theme playing and Fluttershy staring down the cocktrice.

Eventually i gave way and watched it, loved it ever since.

Thats basically the short version.

Hmm, what got me started into MLP was a year or so ago. I used to be big into Team Fortress 2 and used to watch tons of funny videos on Youtube involving TF2. Eventually I found these MLP TF2 crossover videos and thought they were pretty funny but didn't think anything about liking MLP. I added all these crossovers to my favorites and watched them almost every day.

Long story short, I got curious about these crossover videos and decided to watch MLP and see what it was all about. Watched it, and fell in love ever since.

Before mLp came around, I was ranting some much about the spyro debate. For those of you dont know, playstation allstars came out and I was like cool, but then I realized that they didnt have spyro. At that point, I decided to become a huge spyro supporter, watch all the youtube clips, read the fan fics ect... however, most of the people who were doing this were bronys. The first I realy caught on with mlp was with the vinyl and neon youtube video. If you havent seen it, I recomend you do. Then I started listening to living tombstone and bronyfied. At that point, I decide it was time to watch the series. I forced myself to watch the first episode, I was partially willing to watch the second. Next thing I knew it was 5 in the morning on episode 23 season1. That was a magical knight.

I really don't know. I watched one episode because two friends had recommended it and I was bored out of my mind. For unknown reasons I watched a second immediately afterward. From there it just dragged me further and further in. I liked it more and more with each passing episode. It was weird, man...

Before I got into MLP I was a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan. I remember in late 2010 my friends asking me to watch MLP because they saw some relation to the two. I declined to watch due to the prejudice that MLP is only for little girls. Eventually I was with another group of friends and they invited me to a "pony night" where they watched some of the best episodes of season 1 and 2. The pony night got me hooked. After that I went on my own and watched the entire series. I fell in love with the characters and the well written plot, not to mention it's so sugary sweet and cute that I my heart melts when I watch it. I also fell in love with Pinkie Pie and her antics. At first I though she was just a random tard but as I watched more episodes I realized she had reason behind her quirks. But more so I loved the overall evolution seen with everypony in the first two seasons.

As for S3, I'm just hoping it was merely a filler for S4. But that's another topic. wink.png

I'd find and quote my tl;dr, but I'll just summarise: best friend of mine asked me about MLP, thought it was dumb. Pokemon forum was turned to MLP mania, social group was created, curiosity got to me, asked friend to link me to first episode, watched first episode, watched three episodes, BADABING BOOM I'm a brony.

Well at first a couple of my friends on my Facebook (because I actually used Facebook at the time) had become bronies, posting a couple status updates relating to ponies, and that's how I first knew the show existed. And then my friend had showed me a video from the .MOV series. And when I finally decided to watch it was when I was on KnowYourMeme, and I read the MLP: FiM article on it.

And the rest is history.

If you see me around, feel free to say hey!

What got me into MLP was the fandom. The variety of things it produces just stuns me every time I see something.

Things like Art, Music and sometimes the over-analysis of aspects of the show intrigue me to the point that I enjoyed the show.

A mix of blackmail and harrassment. My brother was a brony first and I didn't want to try it because of the image G>4 left about MLP. Unfortunately, he wasn't dropping the subject, so I finally broke down and agreed to 1 episode, 15 minutes if it was as bad as I thought. 3 hours later my brain came back to see how I was doing and found the results, a new Brony, bigger than my brother ever was :)

I am an expert in whatever you don't call me out for not really being, and don't know enough about to realize I have no clue what I'm doing   :)

Funnily enough...it was my sister posting on facebook about how she didn't like it.
I didn't really understand why people liked watching it and then I got to...the third episode...and I was like "OH MY GO- I mean...CELESTIA THIS IS AMAZING." And then just kept watching...and watching.
