Earth pony strength and pegasi speed are great but the most potential lies with the unicorns, being able to directly manipulate magic has all sorts of advantages especially for the few unicorns that master high level magic.

Earth ponies hooves down. Pinkie Pie is an earth pony. Applejack is an earth pony. Big Mac is an earth pony. Braeburn is an earth pony. Those four ponies who pulled a train are earth ponies. The list goes on. Earth Ponies are the best.

Looking back at the older "Best pony race" threads, I'm a bit surprised that each one had different voting majorities; one had an obvious pegasus majority, while another had unicorns. This one had a good amount of earth pony supporters.
