Seriously, he wanted to leave so we should let him. Not eveyone is meant to be a brony forever

This topic wasn't active since late June until someone bumped this topic a few days ago. Was a bit surprised with how much conversation was revived.

I don't see why it HAD to be revived. I think people should just move on and let him go

Except Rarity Fans seem to have short tempers.... He's not the first.

/me explodes in a puff of chill.

Yeah I hear you. ;)

enough of the automotive talk. I would love to discuss TSB's and automotive engineering in General Discussion but this discussion needs to remain on topic.

IIRC Tommy Oliver is still going to Pony Cons so the topic is still viable for discussion.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING HE SAID.

Hate me all you what, but I agree with everything with he said, this fandom is becoming a seconding of Mr.Enter fanbase. Nothing but over positively/over negative circlejerking that can't respect other people opinions and putting the show on this dumb pedestal.

I also agree with him on the show, the show becoming boring and generic as hell, the animation is too choppy for my taste, the show is not funny at all.... I can go on and on why I don't like this show anymore.

But 100% correct on the brony community. I don't like stereotypes... but I see way to many bronies fitting to the cringey and talent-less trope.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with him, I could type more, but I'm tried. I'm glad that I jumped the boat of this awful fanbase.

Actually, Key Sharkz, you are incorrect.  Legally speaking, you are allowed to drive any properly equipped vehicle (*1) at any speed (*2) on private properties in which you own, or other private properties in which the owner have granted you access (*3); and on any professional/closed track or course in which the owner or manager has granted you access such that you are authorized to drive there (*4). *1 - All tires have a speed and load rating.  From the factory, all vehicles must legally be given tires with proper load and speed ratings. *2 - A vehicle is legally required to be built to withstand the speeds in which it can reach.  Some vehicles come stock with governors (aka, limiters) that will not allow the vehicle to keep accelerating once a certain speed is reached.  For example, a vehicle's speedometer may read up to 120 mph, but the vehicle may be governed at 108 mph.  This ties back into the speed rating of the factory tires, and as well it ties into the structural durability and safety of the vehicle as a whole. *3 - You cannot be given a speeding ticket if you are on private property.  If you or someone you know has private property with some kind of long stretch of smooth land or road, the police cannot ticket anyone for speeding on private property.   *4 - And of course, the same goes for any closed/professional track/course, such as the Nürburgring track in Germany.  However, depending on the track, there may be rules regarding equipment that you must legally follow, possibly helmets and roll cages.  Those rules are specific to individual tracks, and some may differ.

All informative but the Toyota thing was a metaphor...

Well, even this topic should end, I just see this today cause of not having enough time to see how the life in fandom goes.

I read just beginning of this topic so, I won't know it all but I would like to talk about it.

For me,I rather like to watch MLP FiM, see creative fanart and read fanfics than seriously take on the analysis of mlp episodes ( sorry for those who seriously take on)...That guy take it seriously on some serious bronies/fans

MLP is still fun to watch even it isn't fun as it was before. but about community/fandom,

I  don't think community will be worse as someone said at all(or I don't catch up to community).  MLP fandom is just like other fandoms...Have some bad and irritate parts and have some or more good parts. I know that stereotypes can make someone mad but doesn't mean you will rage quit because of this, right ?

There are plenty of good people in community to talk about MLP, should go to them and have a nice talk.

We are unworthy anyway. Why did he even apologize? Someone needs money?

I assume he did, because a youtube comment said so. I can hardly sit through this talking. Booooooring.

I have yet to see this so-called "over positively/over negative circlejerking", could you perhaps give me an exempel?

The only thing I thought when I read the topic title was "Since when is the Green/White/Red/Black Power Ranger a brony?" Then I realized it was someone else altogether. Honestly, what does it matter if someone rage quits? I personally wouldn't care even if Lauren Faust herself renounced the show, because I still enjoy it. Whether someone loves it or hates it is of absolutely no concern to me.

I think it's awesome some people enjoy the show to such a degree they spend a lot of time analyzing it, but at the end of the day the fact remains that MLP is a kids' show. However well-made, it was never intended to withstand very close scrutiny. For that very reason, I don't watch analyses.

When enjoying a work of fiction, no one's opinion or interpretation matters except your own. Even the intentions of the author himself are irrelevant, as argued by Roland Barthes in his essay 'The Death of the Author'.

The TL;DR version is 'who cares that some salty guy quit the fandom, as long as you yourself enjoy it?'

I love how many people... have sat here.. and a month or two later... we're still debating over why an opinion is wrong. People never ceases to amaze me

I think his opinion is correct more than anything else.

He'll be back. They always come back. We just have to wait for another Trixie episode.

Well maybe not a Trixie episode, but we did get a few Rarities. And he is going to a Brony convention. So, while it's a little early to call, maybe he's not gone after all. Once you go  :fluttershy: *yay*, you just can't stay away.

But if it's as common as you claim, you should be able to find someone being overly negative/positive about the show on YouTube for example.

I like the show and I like talking about it with other people who like the show as well. No it isn't perfect but I enjoy it all the same.

I don't blame this guy for quitting the Fandom the way he did. He was a public figure and he was bound to get questions about why he stopped making pony videos and I will never blame someone for being honest about why they are doing something. I enjoy the community and have had plenty of conversations about the show both positive and negative so I don't personally see the issues he is upset about as big problems, but obviously he did and I think we all just need to accept that and move on.

Focus on how you feel about the show and don't worry about what others think. If our pastel pony friends make you happy then that's all you need to worry about in regards to the show.

I swear there I've seen this before, but I agree with him to an extent others have said similar things, animated james and i think a few others have called the community out on their BS and i agree with them but Tommy Oliver seems to be having a hissyfit because he gave people the option to close their eyes to the bad. Joshscorcher and Drwolf have different points of views and unique content both have crossovers normally containing one person who loves an episode and one who despises it.

It's all about perspective.  Tom's perspective may or may not be wrong. It's all dependent on your own worldview and how you interpret different mediums of entertainment. I have met Tom in person and honestly think he's an interesting person. I would like to talk more to him about more philosophical views, but that's how I feel about anyone I consider interesting. My worldview comes into play and is also subjective in this aspect of how I see others.

I do not agree with his personal opinion of the show's direction, but I also see why he'd respond in such an extreme way considering how he looked at the show to begin with. However, one thing that I did not like at all was how immature he acted in leaving the show behind, especially since he poured his own creativity into the show's fanmade content. His video(s) were degrading and disrespectful to himself and others.

Considering he's around my ago, I have lost some respect for him over his immaturity. But this is where my own perspective and worldview comes in.

ALL ART is purely subjective, and any and all critics of art is completely subjective as well. There is NO objectivity in realm of art.

As far as how the fandom acts, I tend to stay away from actions and reactions that fall into negativity. I would rather be respectful of people because I desire respect myself. No one should look down on another with the expectation that they will come out on top in an another person eyes. I do not i pull the wool over my eyes in regards to how this fandom can carry itself, but I also do not collectively call out everyone as having done wrong either (as many people do). I will be blunt to those who disrespect me to my face, but as far as the internet goes, I try to go about everything with intelligence, not with a mask, or with every simple thought I have just to get my kicks and not get in trouble IRL)

You know what, I know people are going to hate me for saying this, but he's got a very good point. Maybe we are taking it a tad too seriously. Just a bit. Criticism is a good thing and it helps the creators do their job well and viewers appreciate what creators do well even better. That is, when its in moderation. I don't know, I just cant escape the feeling that we're taking a simple show that we love too far. We're freaking out over the smallest things and that's not bad once in awhile (I myself enjoy watching animation mistakes in the show be picked apart) but when it feels like its everywhere it just sucks the fun from it. I joined this community because I liked the art style and story telling. While I don't plan to follow Mr. Oliver in suite or anything, I'm sticking with this fandom for a long time. But I think this is a warning, we do have people that are taking a simple show that we love too far, there are people that are taking the fun out of it. If you disagree, fine; but i personally believe that he had a very good point and we should all just keep this in mind.
