Embarrassing School Stories

There was this one school presentation in 7th grade I had to do and speak in front of the class about a historical figure for at least 10 minutes. I'm a whole lot better than what I was before, but I tend to get REALLY anxious with performing in front of others. I was shaking half way in, I tried to keep my legs, arms, and voice stable but failed to do so. A lot of people were laughing...

Grab some popcorn, this is a long one.

In elementary school the oldest kids got to have a staff vs students football game. I was one of the more athletic kids in my class so I got drafted, which was a problem because I didn't (and still don't) know zip about American football. I didn't wanna back out though, because I didn't want to look like a wuss in front of my extremely competitive classmates. So the night before the big game I went online and studied football videos to get ready.

The next day everyone in the school was pumped up. My classmates were talking smack, and the teachers did too. They called us out to the field, and the whole school was outside drinking hot chocolate and waving banners. They roared when the players made their way on the field. They hooted and they chanted and my closest friends at the time couldn't even get my attention since I was so overwhelmed by the sight.

We got in our places. There was a tense silence, then the librarian blew the whistle and it was chaos. Whatever confidence I'd held up to that point drained from me, and I resorted to cowering in fear and trying not to get run over. Eventually I worked up the nerve to defend a bit, and since I was a fast runner it wasn't too hard for me to keep the ball out of the PE teacher's (who was only second best to the art teacher, surprisingly) hands.

Time was beginning to run out. It was the final play. Some kid from the other class yelled out "HIKE!" and my teammates and I ran. Once again, I didn't know what I was doing so I just followed their lead. I followed this kid-- Mike, I think-- a couple feet behind. I look up, and the ball's getting thrown to him. The PE teacher goes for the defense, but Mike's already too close to catching it. He's so close, but he's too small. He only succeeds in tapping it, making it flip in the air, right towards me.

It was like slow motion. The ball was coming right towards me, practically willing itself to drop into my hands. If I caught that ball we'd win the game, my team would get two free hot chocolates, and my name would be remembered for the next week at the least.

So I reached for it.

And I missed.

The ball slammed into my face, cracking my glasses, and fell on the ground.

The reaction was almost immediate. My teammates were too shocked to react, but the crowd wasn't. The kids yelled and screamed and groaned and boo'd. The staff on the field looked horrified, like they were waiting for me to cry (There was broken glass near my eyes and that kid had thrown it pretty hard), but I couldn't. I just stared at the ball in horror, grasping the air where it should have been. I was too ashamed to cry.

I was blacklisted for weeks. People didn't forgive me until school ended, but I never forgot. I can't forget.

Having head lice. Let's just say that most Quebecers are filthy, and I'm glad to be out of that part of the world. Pretty sure every kid that's ever gone to school in Quebec has caught it at least once thanks to the peers whose parents don't believe in basic hygiene.

Oh, and round solid objects had an unhealthy (for me) obsession with hitting me square on the nose or nuts, so that was always pleasant.

Even though I'm still in school, I still got from from not too long ago.

Sitting in biology, we were allowed to listen to music. So I put in my earphones and select a song. But I didn't notice that they didn't fully connect (They had recently been accidentally washed, so the connection was a bit off). I select one of my favourite songs and realise I don't hear anything. Begin turning it up, thinking I accidentally put the volume really low earlier. Eventually look up to see everyone staring at me. Normally it wouldn't be bad, but the song was this

Also know that this is an all boys school Grade 11 (17 y/o's).

So you can imagine that these people only hearing the first 20 or so seconds of the song quickly jumped to assumptions and laughed and what not.

Ah, faulty headphone connections, I've had that happen to me, but not to such results. I typically notice such things rather quickly.

It was my own fault. They had been giving trouble the whole day yet I didn't check them :l

But since then I always check to see if they're in properly. Not gonna be repeating that any time soon xD

During a pep rally I tripped and fell of the stage in front of the whole school (looking back is was probably the funniest thing that happened during high school)

Mildly embarrassing marching band rehearsal story.

So I played the trumpet in high school marching band. It was in one of the earliest rehearsals during the summer, and the section leaders were like "I don't want to see you all slumping your arms with those trumpets, they aren't heavy at all!" So they have the idea of giving us all a marching baritone and making us go to set and hold it. Well, when it got to me, and I went to set, the mouthpiece came flying out of the instrument and hit me straight in the face! o.o

I seriously can't believe I forgot this up until now. xD

I got in trouble with the cops once back in high school over a huge misunderstanding. I was not arrested or charged or anything because I didn't do anything wrong. But that was one of the most severe breakdowns in communication I've ever experienced and it was just fucking embarrassing due to some of the things that happened throughout the process. I'm not going to share details.

When I was a senior in high school, I was assigned an oral report in Spanish culture class. I did mine on an election of a Latin American country but I had a tongue slip and said "erection" instead. The entire class caught it before I did because they were all laughing. When the teacher told me, all I said was "Did I?"

I tripped down the stairs once in junior high school and would have fallen if there wasn't a wall at the bottom. I had to pad myself against it so I wouldn't get hurt. Also during junior high school, I got into an argument with a friend's girlfriend and accidentally threw a ketchup packet at her. She retaliated by throwing a full cup of clam chowder at me.

In the 1st grade, I had some sort of bladder problem (I forget what now), any wet myself in front of the class a few times.

That happened to me on the school bus when I was in preschool. Also, I once put my thumb in the seat belt hole on the bus and it got stuck.

The only day I ever wore a skirt was on dress to impress day.

On that day, I tripped on the edge of the sidewalk when I was cutting across the grass to make it to the bus on time, because on that day the class met at the library. Which was on the other side of the school..
When I tripped I fell forward. Naturally, some cute guy had to run from directly behind me to ask if I was alright. I appreciated his concern, but the fact that he had been behind me was extremely embarrassing.

Different year, same dress to impress day thing, I was cutting across a different grassy patch to get to the library from lunch because a class was meeting there. I stepped in a hole and sprained both of my wrists. Clearly I should not wear skirts and cut across the grass during school themed days.

Then there was the time I was told "don't hurt yourself" by some kid in one of the classes that had team sports. Which was basically a 'change into your gym clothes and walk or do something to get credit unless we have a lesson related to health' type of class. I kicked at the soccer ball, missed, and fell. Sprained my ankle from kicking at a soccer and completely missing it. Ah yes, such a pro.

Highschool was a time of great clumsiness.

I got a really juicy period story!

My periods seriously get so heavy I always have to wear 2 night pads and I have to take birth control pills. I had really heavy periods in elementary school before I started taking the pills. One time in sixth grade I bled through my jeans in class so I tied my sweater around so nobody would notice and continued on. I asked my teacher to go to the bathroom during PE. When I got to the bathroom, I was horrified to find out that I bled through my jeans and all the layers in my sweater. I was so embarrassed because I was afraid my classmates and my teacher saw the blood stain on my jacket. Nobody in my class seemed to notice or say anything about it to me but I'm still afraid that pple might have saw it.

Well I don't have many since I was a hermit all throughout high school but I have one I'll never forget.

It was during my senior year of high school. Still a hermit but I was the fastest midfielder my school had on the soccer team, so naturally I was in the starting lineup. It was the semi-finals of the sectionals tournament against a team from Burnt-Hills new york. I was doing my usual thing, running fast, getting the ball... but on my way to defend a kid that had the ball at the time, he had the nerve to kick it full force directly at my head. Luckily I turned in time only to have it hit my temple on my head. If I would have stayed forward I would have broken my nose but I received a concussion and fell flat on my ass in front of the whole school who just so happened to tailgate to the game. It was completely embarrassing because the fastest kid on the team had to ride the bench with a fat ice pack on his head for the whole game. We lost 5-0 to make it worse. If I didn't get injured we would have won. My teammates told me that to my face too and I was very sad that day. Couldn't stop thinking about it. I didn't even get invited to the party afterwards.

From then on i've focused on becoming stronger mentally and physically and its working out well so far.

There's too many for me to name, but if I had to pick just one, we were in middle school 6th grade science and we had to dissect a frog, I didn't have a problem until the teacher put the dead frog in front of me, I fainted in the middle of everyone and was sent to the school nurse, what added to the embarrassment was my mom then showed up and constantly followed me to my classes to make sure I was ok.

  • 4 years later...

I left school early once.  Was going down the stairs outside and fell down them.  I got up, looked around glad to see no one notice, and walked away.

The next day a guy in my class told everyone about the epic fall I did the day before.

In middle school I got locked in the classroom, then my friend figured it out and started knocking and calling me. After a few minutes the whole class was trying to tell me to unlock the door (it could be unlocked from inside). But I was too shy back then and for some reason was afraid to even touch the door, so I decided to be quiet and pretend that I'm not there. But in the end the teacher came back, opened the door and everyone saw me staying near the door
