Not The End

We still don't know everything about the Everfree Forest.

We still don't understand how Equestria was created.

We still haven't seen all of the mane 6's families.

We still aren't aware of why the ponies are primitive.

Sunset Shimmer and Celestia haven't had a reunion yet.

Applejack still hasn't gained the money she's wanted since episode 3.

There still hasn't been an episode where the moral is "If it's not broken, don't fix it"

Celestia hasn't had her own episode.

There still isn't a filly or colt unicorn that looks up to Twilight as an inspiration.

We don't know Mayor Mare's real name.

Shining and Cadence still aren't parents.

Tank isn't done hibernating.

Twilight hasn't mastered levitation (Unlike Pumpkin Cake)

Rarity's parents haven't returned.

Rarity and Spike are not together yet.

As far as I know, they still haven't gone to another country outside of Equestria.

That's all I can think of.

We learned how equestrian was created in the Hearth's Warming episode

The ponies are in a Schizo-Tech world (a combo of ancient and modern tech), that requires no explanation

Tank will just randomly come back, that doesn't require its own episode

Twilight has wings, she doesn't need to learn levitation

Mayor Mare is the Mayor's real name

Spike and Rarity will never be together, MacCarthy confirmed that herself

1. Who was Celetia and Luna's predecessor(s)?

2. But will there ever be an inventive pony that will develop something like solar powered technology?

3. "Wow, that was a great adventure. Oh hi Tank." *Credits* <--------- I think it might get it's own episode! Perhaps RD tries to introduce everything that has happened since Tank was hibernating.

4. That's a good point.

5. I'm not too sure.

6. What!? NO! That's so heartbreaking! Spike never accomplishing his dream :(

We got 4 more seasons so sit tight!

Is doing more on background ponies really a bad thing? We are actually asking for this afterall! Besides, just remember what Mayor Mares speech was about during the wedding! Its ALL the ponies that make our lives wonderful and full and all that.

There is a Plethora of more to tell about this world. More for the mane to discover about themselves and now we have tons of CMC episodes of them using their talents for the first time to help others. Plus reoccurring villans and new villains to add with new ideologies of how friendship could work and not work. We already got a communist pony, next we could get one that symbolizes Anarchy.

As irksome as I find the "Show must end now! Seasonal Rot and all that!" crowd I do get where they are coming from. No one wants to see the show go the way of so many beloved cartoons that overstayed their welcome and their writing went to sh*t. I was never a fan of spongebob, but I hear many people said it's quality fell off a ravine one day and never came back.

That being said, I don't foresee such a fate for MLP should they continue it beyond season six for one big reason that the other shows that went the way of seasonal rot didn't have.

Continuity.

Spongebob and shows like it were highly episodic, they did not have a coherent flow of time to speak of, and the status quo was always reset by the end of the episode. MLP has had its formula changed quite a few times during the course of its life span, this latest episode a clear example of this. Without Continuity, stagnation is the only thing you have to look forward to in a cartoon. Its kind of like the difference between a stream and still water, One will remain healthy and flow smoothly while the other will become toxic and unpleasant as time goes on.

This is why I don't think the seasonal rot argument applies to MLP, because the story is still moving and its heading in an interesting direction, and I think the cutie mark Crusaders may of foreshadowed something BIG for the Mane six.

See they all have their dreams as the "holy faust doth decreed" but their lives and goals are all tied together by the elements of Hamony, lead by the castle's Map to all different parts of Equestria to bring harmony to disharmonious areas. Seems awfully similar to our Crusaders whom have been charged not only with their own talents but with the combined task of helping others with their cutie mark problems. The way I see it, the other five of the mane group are going to be ascended to a new level of authority, not quite princesses, but something along the lines of Knights of the round table

And considering Hasbro at one point filed a patent for the term "Guardians of Harmony" I don't think I'm terribly far off.

I'm also getting the sense that the Cutie Mark Crusaders may appoint a new leader for their operation, a Certain pony with a powerful talent of getting others to do what she wants who has now been reformed to an extent. A pony with a Tiara, like royalty, while the crusaders have Shields, like knights (further adding to them being a microcosm of what is to happen to the mane six)

And if I'm even a little bit right, that's plenty of fodder for future episodes and new, fresh directions to take the series that will have nothing to do with seasonal rot. I wouldn't count the days till the end until the end is officially announced, not with that much potential to work with.

I thought that season 6 was suppose to be the last season, and then the movie would act as the series finale.  Maybe I'm completely wrong on that, maybe it's changed, I don't know.  I really, sincerely hope they do that, because that would be a perfect amount.  The show has a good amount of life left, but I worry that more than 6 seasons would be pushing it.  *Sigh*  But I know it's probably foolish to think that anything will ever end with dignity.  They'll just keep making more until the brand is worthless, just like everything else.  They'll make sequels, prequels, pre-sequels, reboots, re-reboots, until Twilight herself dies of embarrasment, and the series consists of the staff beating her with clubs.  (Get it?  Beating a dead horse?  Heh.)  When they make a spin-off of something with the subtitle: "The Adventures of....", then you know you're really in trouble.

But hopefully they'll stick to the plan to end it at the right time.  I hope.

No, i don't ask for this and not everybody does. They're background ponies for a reason, because they are in the background, who mostly don't have anything to contribute. Put these characters in the spotlight, after the mane 6 are done with their stuff, is the writers saying "you know what? Let's milk for all it's worth, because we're too afraid to move on."

And again, there are no seasons past 6 confirmed.

Actually, she merely said they wouldn't be together at this time.

They just can't. A "baby dragon" falling in love with an adult unicorn, just dosen't fit.

And don't give me that "Age is just a number" thing.

Assuming he stays one, that is.

I am not so sure what you're meaning with that.

Him staying a baby/kid forever.

We never saw any physical growth in the last five seasons and if we did, it was through magical reasons and mostly only temporarily. I think all the characters in this series stay the same until the end.

I have to agree. The show is not ending anytime soon. The fact that we have been with these characters for 5 years and seen so many dramatic changes over those five years (including the CMC getting their marks) is proof that the writers have found ways to make the show evolve. I think the show would be near it's end (if it hadn't already ended by now) if Twilight hadn't become an alicorn or if Dischord hadn't been reformed or the CMC didn't get their cutie marks. Their giving us new opportunities to grow with and relate to these characters.

I for one am hopeful.

MLP has been running on gens for a while now, granted, the other gens kinda sucked.

but that does mean that when fim does end, there will be another show to come along.

I just hope that it takes place within the same world, or a world that looks like the one we've been watching.

(pretty sure the show won't end for a good while)

I know what you're saying, EVBP, but the only things I liked on this show are: Twilicorn, the Friendship castle & Discord being reformed, that's it! I felt depressed when the CMC got their marks, I was so worried their journey might end by going their own separate ways. But the point is: I rather be a producer by creating this Alternate Continuity spinoff series focusing on the CMC (by ignoring the events of the Crusaders of the Lost Mark episode which aired on the 5th anniversary of MLP:FiM on October 10th)

I mean, think about it, this is why I don't like changes to the CMC, just like myself in real life you see! I am the only Brony who is depressed due to the ending of the CMC series-arc journey. There could be some Bronies and Pegasisters like me who are really depressed because of the CMC and Diamond Tiara. DT should've NOT been reformed as well as the CMC getting their marks. I will NOT tolerate or be silence because of the dramatic change to the CMC and Diamond Tiara. And you're right, the show is NOT ending after all due to its population than Spongebob.

i just think they still could expand more on cmc they sung their story or journey was just beginning and them getting their marks aren't truly the end of their story/journey to help others with them finding their marks or the reasons behind their marks like they did for Trouble Shoes and DT.

Companies don't tend to announce the end of TV shows until their final season. And the claims that Hasbro won't end it until profits go down simply aren't true. Companies often end or reboot series in order to grab younger audiences. By 2018 the audience that grew up with MLP (by which I mean the little girls) will start growing up and moving on. Plus with all the events in the TV show it can become hard for younger audiences to follow it (hence stopping them from getting attachment to these characters). So they have to reintroduced said characters. Nothing is confirmed yet but all evidence points towards a 2017 ending to the TV show and a G5 being introduced by 2019 or 2020.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

When I'm on a new rollercoaster I anticipate and enjoy the ride, and when I ride I don't think about it stopping. I'm still enjoying this one. If FiM ends on a high note I'll be pleased. When it does end they will make another show. You can all but guarantee that.

And yes I do think Season 6 will be a good place to wrap it up. That doesn't mean that can't make a sequel film or specials either. ;)

We see lots of arcs being changed this season. Could be for the end of the story arc, or just a differen't turn for the series. Both have good arguments. I think either the show will make some major turns in the series to change the story, or the story is ending. I think ultimately next season we will know. There is evidence for both. So we can't really tell. In one hand arcs are being concluded, on the other hand they could arguably just being changed not concluded. Something interesting I also wanted to note:

Spoiler:

The finale for season 5 mentions a time spell in which starlight changes the timeline if I'm right. They could use this to change the story and possibly keep their memories to take FiM in a much different direction. Or create new stories while keeping their old memories for some fun episodes.

Honestly I've been worried that the team behind FiM have kind of been writing themselves into a corner ever since they threw Twilicorn at us. Heck, season three in general felt kind of unfinished to me, but the whole Princess Twilight thing should have been held off for like a series finale or something, in my opinion. I'm glad they've found new stories to tell, because this show about candy colored cartoon ponies is crazy important to me, but if you look at some of the more recent content, it looks like it's working toward a definite ending. Starting with Twilight becoming a princess, now we've got Rainbow well on her way to becoming a Wonderbolt to the point that it feels like she's practically there already, recently Rarity finally opened a store in Canterlot, and the Crusaders have their cutie marks.

AJ, Pinkie, and Flutters are the only major characters who haven't had an arc reach anything resembling an end, but they also haven't really had an arc. AJ wants to run the farm, which she's literally been doing since day one. Pinkie just wants to make people smile, again, dream fully realized. Fluttershy's whole arc is her becoming less shy, which is literally every Fluttershy episode because she never actually gets over her shyness and whatnot, because then what could they write a Fluttershy episode about?

I know we're getting at least a sixth season and a feature film, and that's fantastic, I'm looking forward to both, but it feels like they've already fulfilled everyone's life goals at this point and haven't got much left in the way of major plot points. It feels like the show is starting to wind down. And seeing as this show has literally saved my life, I'm more than a little upset at the thought of that. I know it has to end sometime, but it just feels too soon. And I admittedly don't know for sure that the end is coming soon, I just have a hard time thinking of where else the show could go at this point.

But anyway, that's my rant out of the way. Glad to finally get that off my chest.

Eh,I don't agree. Twilight teaches her a valuable lesson in friendship according to her info on gameloft and the mane six almost certainly are going to be able to fix things given that fact, so I'm going to be everything's back to 100% the status quo.
