When it's on YouTube, fuck it I will get into as many flame wars as I can possibly get into. I normally get at least 15 notifications a week from YouTube by Anti-Bronies.

Good idea, I love to make anti bronies h8 themselves, and make them feel bad.

Give them a hug and tell them it will be ok and try to show them kindness always maybe one day they will understand that hatred never solves anything. We make fun of others because we hurt on the inside. I'm sure those boys opinions were formed by peer pressure also just to fit in. Its sad and all you can do is be kind and try to set an example for them.

lucky for me, all my friends and family (and pretty much everybody I know) have no problem with me being a bronie and are a-ok with it. but if I would hear some people talking about it, I'd swallow my anger down and talk to them about how they are wrong, using examples of their own fandom. f.e, if they like the spongebob-series, I'm gonna tell them "see, there are people who dress up like spongebob-characters to f*ck each other or wank to spongebob-porn, but those are the minority, and it does not mean that every spongebob-fan watches spongebob-porn, right?" I did that on multiple occasions in the internet, and it worked just fine. the trick is that you have to stay calm, polite and friendly. they are just misinformed, theyfore you simply clear up a misunderstanding.

Haters are NEVER worth your time.

Just looking at some of their pearls of wisdom tires me. They have proven to have an inability of grasping simple reasoning, the narrow-mindness of a 5-year-old (Sorry for offending 5 year-olds by the way), and just plain intolerance towards anything different in general.

No need to start a flame war - they're as meaningless to me, as any efforts to reach a resolution with them would be.

In fact, those amoebas would flame anyone who simply disagrees with them (sorry for offending amoebas, by the way).

As already said, ignore them.

You're not going to be able to convince them, so really any interactions are a waste of time.

Although you could tell them to watch it, in the interest on being able to hate on it from an educated position, (The effectiveness depends on the hater though)

While most people I deal with is in my own Troop I got to say the reactions can be different, On one side I see a lot of people that just don't care. While on the other side my abilities as a soldier are questioned. But for my reaction to those that think I'm watching a Girl's show for kicks I attempt to show them the fun things that make the show interesting. When I get the chance I show them the references made in the show all the fun and weird fan made things such as Cupcakes and Smile HD, Show them that it's not just "A show for little girls." their demeanor changes slightly after that. Some become interested and others just acknowledge that I enjoy the show without hating me for it.

Short version: There is a stigma that MLP is all about "Girlishness and sunshine and rainbows" and they feel that those that like it are locked into this stigma of being a ninny. While some like the "Love and peace" message I tend to lean more towards the jokes and references of the show and the amazing fan made venues that spawn from the show. By letting people know that they exist people's ideals can lean away from the "Girlie" aspect of it and see that it's so much more.

I simply stay quiet now and ignore them, because im not interested in having useless conversations with haters over the Internet.

Before that, i actually trolled them once.

In real life i also just ignored bullys and tried to stay quiet...that didnt helped me, but that was the only thing i did.

It depends on the level of hatred

If it is a "this is kind of disturbing" thing then you can try to prove them wrong

If it is a "ALL OF THEM ARE A BUNCH OF PEDOS WITH NO LIFE OR FRIENDS AND LIVE IN THEIR MOM"S BASEMENT (more caps lock stupidity)" do not engage

Depending on the grade/situation, this ain't always a good idea. Kindness doesn't solve everything.

yeah but how do you confront them irl

Last time this happened to me, I just ignored them, and It's really the best thing to do. If it makes you so angry that you can't ignore them at all, it's best to try and drain them out if you can, cover your ears or think about something else. That's really all I can think of.

When it's on YouTube, fuck it I will get into as many flame wars as I can possibly get into. I normally get at least 15 notifications a week from YouTube by Anti-Bronies.

THIS.

When in real life, it's best to ignore them, as to avoid being physically hurt in most cases, but online...

I don't really get offended if someone doesn't like me being a brony. The only people who have teased me so far for it is my friends. and since they are my friend. well, if a stranger hears me talking to my friend, they'd probably think we AREN'T friends. But anyone who's asked me so far, i've just attempted to explain why I like it. There's no way to explain your reasons without people cracking up. You have to WATCH a few episodes to understand why it's good or bad.

and I'm not open at all to me being a brony, and don't like to be labelled a "brony" either. We have fans of other TV shows, they are just called fans. I want to just be a fan too. It is my favorite show, so that's all, but as soon as you tell someone you're a brony, these are the things they'll think (PLEASE TAKE NO OFFENSE FROM THIS): dubstep blasting, weaboo, clopping, hentai watching, emo, antisocial, BRONY!

If I was open about it, I'd have to explain my whole life story for them to not think of me as everything i just described. I know what it's like to be discriminated against by society(pigment color should make no difference.)

Sorry for the long posts i've been making heh.

I chose other. I like to deal with it by getting really good at banter. This tends to be easier or harder based on certain criteria. For example, the easiest haters to deal with are people from Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe in general, because I can simply post the picture below. They tend to stop after that. For others, general shit posting tends to work. I'll throw a few red herrings their way, and eventually they take the bait. Then I can make THEM look like an idiot on the topic of my choosing.

http://mylittlebrony.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_celebrity_bronies

Hand them these two lists, and say that if the show is good enough for the likes of Paul Stanley, William Shatner and Lady Gaga, even Bill Clinton, then maybe it isn't all that bad after all?

And then there are all these references to other movies, games and shows withing FiM, such as Harry Potter, Metal Gear Solid, The Big Lebowsky etc. Two out of these three things aren't exactly marketed towards little girls.

Look, even I joke about the extreme bronies - or people who are too into anything. Some people are just cringeworthy. I woulnd't abuse people for their interests, but like...

I hope some people get the joke ^^

I would not ignore them forget it, that is to soft you have to be confrontational,

I would break them every last one of them, but how I would do it is too violent to say...

So the other day i was at college and i over heard a couple of lads( well they are more like the kind of boys who dont have many friends as highschollers whould call them wierdos) talking about bronies

The fact that you insult them in your initial post shows you're not really that much better than they are...

as a 18 year old bisexual female the one thing they said really hurt me. some one asked what a brony was and these lads' answer was "well its a bunch of middle age guys who are creeps that like to get off over my little pony"

How does being an 18 year old bisexual female relate to any of that?

but yeah would would you do in a similar situation ?

Nothing. I'm not a brony, but if I was I would accept that people don't like what I like and sometimes they will be vocal about it, and that really it's none of my business ANYWAYS because as you explained they were talking among themselves with friends, so intervening is just kind of being a rude jackass.

i forgot to say as well i dont know why i kept quiet i hate the fact that people would think of me like that you do people deal with it after aswell?

No offense but don't you kind of think you're playing the victim here? It's far more socially acceptable for women to like a show like MLP so there is little chance they are thinking of you like that. They are mostly referring to men and not you more than likely. So it kind of feels like you are trying to share in the persecution of male bronies when you kind of don't fit the bill. I very seldom see females mocked for enjoying MLP, it's a majority of the time: males.

When it's on YouTube, fuck it I will get into as many flame wars as I can possibly get into. I normally get at least 15 notifications a week from YouTube by Anti-Bronies.

No offense but I doubt you have any effect upon them. Trolls generally just want reaction and when you are trying to troll them it becomes trolls trolling trolls and a big waste of time for everyone.

yeah but how do you confront them irl

The answer is you don't in your situation. They were talking privately among themselves, they have that right. You mind your own business and carry on with your life.

Give them a hug and tell them it will be ok and try to show them kindness always maybe one day they will understand that hatred never solves anything. We make fun of others because we hurt on the inside. I'm sure those boys opinions were formed by peer pressure also just to fit in. What? No. Do not hug strangers. You do not have to be kind to people being asshats to you either, as it seldom works. What you need to do is not judge them like you're doing by assuming they are so susceptible to peer pressure to the point where you are implying there is no way they could reach a conclusion on their own (which by the way isn't as kind as you were previously advocating) and instead realize they are NOT talking to you and let it be. If they are speaking directly to you then you can disagree, but otherwise you're just being rude. I know it's hard to accept that people don't like what you like, but when they do so in private and you HAPPEN to be close enough to hear that doesn't mean that gives you the right to jump in.
