4. Robinson Crusoe Adventures on the Cursed Islan

That is my favorite non dungeon crawler game. I like Heroquest, Descent, and old D&D (which is not a board game but my favorite). I used to play board games every week. I only own a few, the ones I really like.

Robinson Crusoe's an amazing game, but it's been out of print for some time so I've been having trouble finding a copy (you can get it on ebay but it's going for $80 and up). There's supposedly going to be a fourth edition hitting the shelves this September, and I'm really looking forward to it.

$80 is the msrp as far as I know. I didn't know it was a later edition. I got mine a year ago, along with the expansion.

I have a design for a card game and I need someone to play test it with.

I do Chess, Checkers, and Monopoly. That's really about it for board games. As for card games, Solitaire, Blackjack, Uno, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh. There's probably more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Card games, not so much. I might know how to play Go Fish and War. That's about it. :adorkable:

But I love board games. I used to play kiddier games like Guess Who, Connect 4, and Battleship with my brothers growing up, and it's been somewhat a family tradition to play Aggravation whenever we have one of our big family get-togethers, and it's sadly not as common as it used to be, but that game was always a favorite of mine and is extremely precious to me because of all the fun memories we've had playing it. Some other family favorites include Taboo, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Cranium, Clue, Apples to Apples, Snakes and Ladders, Pachisi, Scrabble, and others I'm probably forgetting, but some of those are played with cards anyway so I'm not sure what they're considered to be. :P

Was that the price? I was almost certain that there was a time when I was looking at it online while it was around $60-70 and I was like "Well I'm tempted, but right now I gotta hold onto my money," and now that I've waited it's OOP and going for $80-90.

A card game design, you say? Is this something that perchance could be played via tabletop simulator?

Does Hearthstone count?

While that's not a physical game (all online, right?), I'd say it qualifies. :)

I don't know how that works. I have cards typed in Word. I play testd it once and it needs work. But I can't figure out how to set the pay out per round.

Huh, well I'm not sure how I could play test it if it's in Word. My printer has been busted for a long time, so I couldn't actually print out the cards. :\

  • 2 years later...

I'm developing one of my own, you could say :P

I used to be into Magic and Heroclix, but kind of got out of it. Since I have found a lot of my old Halo set figures and my old DotA set figures (along with the cards), I may think about getting back into the latter.

I'm a fan of both board games and card games. Although, I haven't played the latter in years.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I've played Settlers of Catan lots and have gotten really good at it. I've also made my own game that plays fairly well and made 3 expansions for Ticket to Ride.

I'll just update the status of the tabletop game I've been developing.

Progress is halted for now, as I'm having issues printing out cards and the et cetera. But after I adjust a few things balancing-wise from the current version, I intend to put a print-to-play version up. I'm hoping that will happen fairly soon, but I doubt it. More opinions would be nice to have, so I could potentially release it in a semi-balanced state.

Yeah,  I love board games. I wish I had somebody to play them with more.

I love chess and I'd like to play more chesslike games. Xiangqi, Shogi, Go, Tafl, Tak, Terrace, etc.(Google those if you don't know what I'm talking about.) Those are called abstract strategy games.

There are also a lot of newish board games. Things like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Firefly, Carcassone, and the granddaddy of complex board games, Twilight Imperium.

Cards are fun too. Over Christmas I've played Exploding Kittens quite a bit with my cousins.

We also played Monopoly. I've liked Monopoly since I was a kid but hardcore boardgamers seem to hate it and this time I understood what they're saying. It is pretty much dependent on the dice without much skill involved.

Also, we have MLP Monopoly. We need Risk: Equestria, Ticket to Ride: Equestria, and Catan: Equestria. ^_^

Actually, there is a degree of strategy to Monopoly. If you focus on the Pink or Navy Blue properties along with the railroads (and ALWAYS avoid the utilities), you win more often than not. I know this because I've always done the strategy all the times I've played Monopoly only once (and that's because I messed up and didn't play right). Both of those property sets are in spots that are landed on more often and the Railroads cover literally everywhere.

I know. But if the dice aren't with you you can't do much. Also, once somebody starts winning there's not much you can do to catch up. I don't hate the game but I don't like it as much as I used to.

I used to play Monopoly a lot, haven't played for a long time now. It's an old classic, although as far as game design goes it's  very poorly designed.

As for what I currently play... I play Magic: The Gathering occasionally, as well as the odd game of Cluedo, Pandemic and whatever other board game my sister has. My personal favourite at the moment though is the Discworld Ankh-Morpork board game

I play Monopoly from time to time, and especially like the different versions like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I'm going to get the Disney Theme Park edition soon, it looks so cool.

Aside from that, I play occasional card games (Crazy 8s is a staple of Christmas festivities). I remember an old game from the 1970s that my dad used to have (before me and my siblings destroyed it when we were young). It had two little pirate ships that shot plastic canon balls at each other to release a treasure compartment filled with coins. I wish I knew what that was called but I can't remember that part.

  • 3 weeks later...

I used to play MTG a bunch, but all my friends stopped playing and I don't have money for FNM (or a way to get there), so I have no one to play with anymore.
