spoiler Are you looking forward to the return of Starlight Glimmer?

As seen in the trailer for the sixth season of MLP, Starlight Glimmer is going to be a character in the season 6 opening "The Crystalling". My question is: Do you think this is a good idea?

Now, I for myself don't look forward to this. Starlight was an interesting character when she first appeared, and even for the most time of the season 5-finale, she was pretty dang awesome. But, you guessed it, my sympathy instantly vanished as soon as her backstory was revealed. Now, she is just a boring, overreacting and overrated character to me, and I would rather see the return of King Sombra or Queen Chrysalis (I know, the King got reformed in the comics, but those are not canon to the show, so it might happen). And I think most of us had this talking about rushed reformations at least one time too often.

We will also meet her childhood-friend, who was oh-so-cruel to get his cutie mark and move away, and I'm not very curious about this reunion either. There's probably just gonna be a short scene about those two where they talk things out, but since they don't have much time, it's gonna be a very rushed scene. So, either Starlight does an awesome twist and becomes a villain again (but I guess the odds for that are at 0,001%), or she's just going to steal some time from the season intro.

But hey, those are just my thoughts. What do you think? Did you want Starlight to reappear? Are you looking forward to her return?

I'd have rather the writers had her return to her village at the end of Season 5, but it seems we're stuck with her for the foreseeable future. Honestly, I hope the show can do what Equestria Girls did with Sunset and make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. It'd certainly help nullify my disappointment with The Cutie Re-Mark.

Do I want to see my least favorite character, who I have little to no sympathy for, get the lion's share of the premier with a woobie "I just want to make up with my friend" plot that's going to be the emotional focus and later on be the linchpin to saving the day? Yeah no, I'm not looking forward to Starlight's return.

I'm gonna be the minority in saying this, but I am actually very much looking forward to more Starlight Glimmer in Season 6. I think that introducing her into the regular lineup will give the writers lots of material to work with. I always come into a new season with plenty of enthusiasm, so i'm excited to see what the future holds.

I am completely indifferent towards Starlight Glimmer. I have the feeling that her reuniting with her friend is going to be important, but other than that, I have no idea what they're going to do with her and I have an open mind about it.

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.

She's a great character.  Although her reform was rushed, (like all of them) I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of her on the show.

I am NOT looking forward to Princess Turbulence Cardioid, on the other hoof.

I was okay with Starlight being a side character like Discord, but it seems like she's gonna play an important role in the premiere. To be honest, I feel like they're driving the whole "super magical unicorn mare doing heroic things" thing into the ground in this show; we already have Twilight and Trixie (maybe even Sunset, even though we don't see her use her magic much).

So it's not that I hate Starlight as a character- I just fear they're gonna rehash a lot of what Twilight went through but with Starlight. And the super-powerful unicorn is starting to become a cliche in the show (if it already hasn't become one).

But we stlil don't know what role Starlight is gonna play in the season, so I'm gonna try to withhold any apprehension until we get more info about the upcoming eps.

EDIT: Accidentally said "finale" instead of "premiere". Whoops.

I am actually looking forward to Starlight in this season. I think it'll just be an interesting change in the formula of the show, provided it's executed well.

I'm pretty indifferent, as of right now. I don't want to speculate, or form an opinion ahead of time, or anything. It's dumb, I know, but that kinda takes the thrill of watching new episodes out for me.

I haven't even seen the season 6 trailer. I'm actively avoiding most topics about season 6. I want my socks blown off. If I go in with my socks pre-blown, they cannot be re-blown.

If I don't like it... well, we'll see.

No.

I'm definitely not looking forward to Starlight getting the majority of the focus in the first few season 6 episodes because the writers will be desperately attempting the hit us over over the head with: "You see? She's 100% good now!" so that her transition to the cast feels more natural.

I'm definitely not going to pretend that she's earned anything close to what the mane six have earned, even if she does end up saving the day in the premiere.

I love myself some glimglim.

I am very interested in seeing her and i am glad that they bring her back, instead of just forgetting her, because that would just be a sign of the writers giving up. I would rather see the writers failing miserably but atleast trying, then not trying at all.

If DHX forgot about her or ignored her, then I'd be really pissed off; why the hell would you put in the effort to redeem her only to shove her to the wayside? To put her in the spotlight shows me that DHX isn't going to ignore her and will have an impact.

Nope. Simply put, I don't like Starlight currently. Her insane, unjustified abilities, her terrible motive for her actions AND her terrible actions themselves that went unpunished in any way, they are gonna have to do some interesting things to make me warm up to her in season 6. At this point, I don't know enough about her and she doesn't have any remarkable qualities as of yet, except for the aforementioned super-pony abilities that made zero sense.

I guess as a better alternative to Tartarus or prison? Seems that she could have easily just remained at her town after Twilight took her back.

I am looking forward to Starlight's return. I think her reform was a little rushed, but Sunset Shimmer's was even more rushed and now she has a strong cult following. Starlight could just as easily benefit from that kind of character development, though hopefully she will get out of Sunset's shadow before too long. Moreover, even numbered seasons always seem to be more well received than odd numbered seasons. Perhaps season 6 will continue that trend. I for one enjoyed season 5 so I'm definitely looking forward to season 6. I'm iffy about how Starlight will impact the show, but I was just as iffy about Twilight's transformation and the writers pulled off a solid season after that. I'm feeling optimistic, and will definitely be ready when the season premier airs later this month.

Sending SG to prison or back to Our Town would've completely nullified Starlight's redemption. If they did that, then you resume the dangerous cycle and, even worse, make Twilight look like a complete fraud. She needs guidance, not banishment.

NO. NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.

I don't like starlight. I find her okay for a one shot villain, but she SERIOUSLY wore out here welcome after that.

Besides, I've seen this story already with Sunset shimmer and I DO NOT like how the ride goes. We already have issues with the other 5 being kicked to the curb, this pretty much seems to clinch in my mind that its going to intensify.

I dunno, for me it's not that they don't make sense...I can totally understand Starlight being gifted in magic after studying for however many years (even if it is a little overwhelming with stuff like self-levitation and even being able to put up a magic blast fight with Twilight). It's more that I feel Starlight doesn't have much to offer that hasn't already been done with Twilight, Sunset, and Trixie. So yeah, I have my reservations about Starlight becoming a regular for that very reason.

To expand upon what I said earlier, I really hope Glimmer's redemption is a season-long arc, as opposed to it being a "one-and-done" deal. It'll take more than one montage and one premiere to properly redeem a character like Glimmer.
