SO. The title basically says it all.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, the film... Thoughts on it??

I watched it just yesterday and I loved it to bits. The characters, the storyline, the animation, the special effects, the actors.. Were all stunning, magical, amazing. As a Rowling fan I am stunned by this movie and cannot WAIT for the next 4 films of the same series to enter the screen. <3 BLESS.

(Spoilers in the spoiler tags, please. For people who haven't watched it yet.)

I watched it yesterday as well, and really..... I must say it was ok. Nothing more really. If someone is a complete Potter lore fan, he will love getting to see some more lore there displayed in the movie, but there is little more to it, at least for someone like me.

They barely cast any single spell in the movie until at the very end and everybody was just disapparating like it was no thing. The plot was not really an actually exciting one, I loved the villain though, Grindelwald. Was nice seeing him, and with just this movie, he has already replaced Voldemort as my favorite character from Harry Potter now. I think he as a villain had a far wider vision than Voldemort ever did :P

Oh, and the whole plot with Credence being this shadow monster? Cringed through it so much. It was a cliché at best :/.

I rate it 3.5/5

What saves it is really good acting and nice dialogues.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm looking forward to it. I like the setting and the time it takes place in, and the trailers look really intriguing. I love the Harry Potters and I know this is different, but I think it might be worth a look.

I watched it the week it came out in IMAX. It was awesome.

The character designs were amazing and the storyline was easy to understand. My favorite beast would have to be that glorious eagle that made it rain that special rain. It was sad to see that other man get his memory wiped but hey, at least he still had a blip of it at the end. The fact that Creedance had to die was so saddening. He was the most misunderstood character of the movie and just needed help...

It wasn't unenjoyable. Looked pretty, had AAA acting, nice music. All that you'd expect.

But it still felt lacking in substance. It just didn't feel like a Harry Potter universe film, and I found it hard to really care for any of the characters.

My favourite character by far was the homely baker. But as they finished up his character arc by the end of the movie, I really don't have any real motive to see the next one. The Johnny Depp cameo is at the moment the only real thing that'd have me interested, and even that's just novelty.

All in all, it wasn't bad, but I don't see myself following the franchise further. Certainly not paying cinema money for it.

It's fine, although I liked the acting and funny interactions between the characters more than most of the action scenes. The visuals look good, but they are nothing special.

As a Harry Potter fan, I enjoyed the film. I think it was really neat to see what was happening in the wizarding world in the United States outside of Hogwarts/England. Also, getting to see the dark wizard that existed before Voldemort was pretty cool. I look forward to seeing that epic battle that was alluded to in the books.

I heard there was a cameo in the film by a character from other Harry Potter films, but I don't recall seeing anyone. I know they did mention Dumbledore and the Lestrange family. Was there something I missed?

It kinda alright, I guess, I'm not use to the Wizarding world taken place in a maggle town, beside Hogwarts and other more magical places.

Firstly, I usually don't worry myself too much over spoilers, I tend to forget them by the time I take the effort to see what they're all about. So, somebody remind me how you do the whole spoiler drop-down tab thingie.

Watched the movie a good... month or two ago, and while its fading a bit out of memory now, it still was a pretty decent movie. Not particularly good or as epic as the actual Harry Potter involved movies that I've seen, but it stood well on its own legs for a spin-off. If you haven't seen any other movie in the franchise, you won't be disappointed! If your going into this expecting a continuation or having anything to do with the other movies other than throwing the same terms at you...

The plot did seem a bit scattered as they were trying to do, like, three different stories simultaneously. Not botched by any means, just a tad confusing. The whole movie was set some few decades before anything else in the franchise, so it might as well have been its own movie. Did wholeheartedly love the bestiary the movie introduced and loved how they brought up a handful of beasties that they brought up in the little paperback I have that they based the movie around. While it might dissuade some from seeing the movie, despite what the trailers and title says, its not all just about rounding up magical beasts. Though I can't say I felt like all the human cast was entirely warranted.

Don't think I'm spoiling anything by chirping in about everyone being happy by the end of it. Well... most everyone. Credence I really rather connected pretty hard to. After the movie I had to go for a walk to clear my head... out in twenty degree weather at roughly midnight. His was a rather sad story. I really don't like how everyone else's tales got wrapped up all in a neat & happy bow except for poor, poor Credence.

I remember vividly one part of the movie where after all the hoohah got over & done with and we're left with our main character watching something indiscernible scuttle up some wall. I'm left sitting there wondering if that was important or if it was supposed to mean anything.

Beatings & Salivations Everybeing!   Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread  and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread!  Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! I found the movie to be entertaining. I'm not up to date with the Harry Potter lore so I kinda went in blind. My girlfriend however is very much a fangirl so I had to take her shortly after release.

I liked it overall, but the one thing that bugged me was the main character barely showed emotion throughout the movie. He seemed to have one facial expression for most of the movie. I still appreciated him, but almost no emotion I could see.

I like they are expanding on the world as a whole of harry potter.   Gives you more to grasp and overall the movie was fun to watch.   The beast where my fav part but also how Newt Scamander really wanted to save and protect these creatures.   It's a good lesson to younger kids on how we need to protect our own wild life and try to understand them in nature.   I would say Newt was a bit flat in times when it came to interaction with the others cannons but Jacob in being the "muggle"  just kicked things off!  Instead of running away and such,  this poor man just jumps right in to help his new friends and the animals.

Porpentina also gives us a good strong female witch also.     In also the twist,  we get more of a adult setting when it comes to our group which is nice to see.    I know some fans complained about this but you can't always use the"harry"  and"school" plots.   Sadly it would really burn out the magical world,

I finally caught up with it and my review is mixed. I like the time and setting but the movie seemed a bit overcomplicated in its plot. It's not as though it was undecipherable; just a little too 'busy'. J.K. Rowling wrote the script and she did the same thing she often does in her books; spending too much time being 'wondrous' and not spending enough effort in trimming down the excess. I know that it's a movie about magic and magical worlds but anything can be overdone and detract from the most important thing, and that is the flow of the basic story.

There was a lot going on in this movie and it was just hard keeping track of everything when it should have been very clear. That's the fault of the writer, who her colleagues are afraid to critique in any way. The original Harry Potter movies were adapted from the books just right; keeping all the necessary stuff intact while editing out the extraneous. I think Rowling should stick to the books and leave the movies in more capable hands.

On the positive side, it did capture the essence of the Harry Potter franchise, the characters were good and I liked seeing the world of Harry Potter expanded into the United States at an earlier time. It wasn't a bad movie, just in need of a few tweaks. On the whole, I'd say it was 'okay'.

I think the Fantastic Beasts movies are a bit overlong and stuffed with too much of the magic-users vs mudbloods subtext. JK Rowling has been pushing that contrived storyline since the later Harry Potters and it's pretty lame. It's boring and overused. The Harry Potters are much more entertaining and better adapted. I don't like the cast or characters of Fantastic Beasts either.

The first one I thought was good. The second one tries to cram too much into one movie and it's a jumbled mess.

I watched both movies. I think both movies are really great, but second movie was not as good as first one and both movies are not as good as the eight Harry Potter movies. What I really like is fleshing out this universe more. Therefore I also really enjoyed the new locations here shown.
