No new episodes until August!

The July 2017 highlights for Discovery Family have confirmed absolutely nothing new for the show:

Which means, August 5 will be the earliest possible date for Discordant Harmony, and the season will continue through November. Believe me, it's gonna be completely just like as if it were 4 months ago, except for the wait of those Equestria Girls episodes.

Not what I would've done. If I were the one making these decisions, I would've tried to ensure that the season wraps up completely before October so that the movie gets maximum attention.

It's not too long of a wait, in my opinion. Unlike some movies and games and series that push their release back a year, then another year, then ANOTHER year... nope, not naming any names  and I'm definitely not salty.

Ok so wait, how many episodes are out before the hiatus? I was planning to wait until the season was over to marathon all the eps, but if there is a hiatus I will prolly watch the available ones asap

Well, #1, that's debatable >.> Isn't this movie supposed to be, you know, CANON :T

And #2, I think what @Prospekt was saying was to finish season 7 before the movie that way the movie has a better chance for financial success. You don't want adverts for the season finale and the movie happening simultaneously, or else each will cannibalize the other

It seems okay, although I saw the episodes early from the Canadian releases, so now I have to wait even longer, but not too much. Can't wait to pick back up in a few months!

Hiatuses are routine and the movie is set for release on October 6, so I doubt this has anything to do with the movie itself.

While I don't mind a hiatus or the length of it, what I do mind is that the staff decided to routinely stick them in the middle of the summer. Really, if this is the case, why not have the hiatus during a school month like May, June or for later season starts, August or September? By the time the hiatus is over many kids may already be headed back to school. It would be better to air more episodes during the summer when viewers have more time to enjoy and view the episodes. It's a wasted opportunity. just my 2 cents.

I don't know about that, but, what if MLP FIM had a episode showing, Someone likes something, but you don't, you want to tell them, but, afraid of hurting their feelings.

Like they like a kind of music, food, or something you don't.
