Are you excited for Christmas

Yes and no. I absolutely adore the atmosphere around Christmas, I enjoy seeing people happy and excited, homes being cozy and wearing warm clothing while drinking hot chocolate. However, Christmas itself is not so fun for me since our household is a bit... annoying, to put it bluntly. :sunny:

Christmas has lost a lot of its magic for me. My life sucks too much for me to enjoy the holidays. :(

Ah a time for snow, settlement , jolly, and yes most of all.... nonstop classical jazz music being played. Who wouldn't be excited for that?

Eh; moderately so. I'm excited for the season itself, but not by the expected stressors and sometimes family drama. Doesn't always happen, but meh.

That said there usually is an air of positivity from this season, so that I can appreciate. <3

I know I already post on this but i  want to add more..

sure I like xmas as it is, (cuz jesus does too..) but I just feel it one time of a year where the jazz era is more alive than ever, because of all the nice classical xmas songs being played everywhere.

To be honest, the day itself is hardly that special to me anymore. In fact, nowadays I like the month before better. I like the decorations, and wish we could leave them up all winter.

Now get ready for another weather/season rant from me, but it very much factors into my opinion on this matter...

The last several years have established the above opinion for me, largely because of the changing climate where I live. Especially last year. Once Christmas and New Years Eve/Day are over, it feels as if the season of winter is over. I know that sounds absurd to people who live in locations that haven't been as effected by climate change as much (yet). Last year December was the only month where it was even remotely winter-like. We had a dusting of snow in early January, and then winter was gone.

It's more than the fact that winter where I live is so messed up, it's psychological. I look forward to this time of the year all year long because it is the time of the nicest weather, Summer is over, Spring is still months away (supposedly), but then once New Years Day is over BAM! the stores pretend like winter is over, stocking bikinis (you can't find coats in January because they've cleared them all out!)... And overall, it just feels like once January hits, winter (regardless of whether it acts like it or not) is gone in a flash, and it's back to the time of the year I hate the most again.

So, for me, December is a time to be cherished. It's the time where I feel the safest distance away from Spring and Summer. December is a sacred time! I refuse to wish it away!

Indeed, it's the one time of the year where I can go out and not be inundated by Country, 80s pop hits, etc. People whine about Christmas music all of the time, meanwhile back when I worked retail I was actually happy to switch over to something different for a month (although some of the versions of Christmas songs they played were absolutely terrible, what can you do?). I understand some Christmas songs are annoying... But has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe for some people (including me!) ALL Country music is irritating? So Christmas time is a reprieve from the awful music they play every other month of the year.

December is a year I use to love, because it meant time away from school, the end of the year, the beginning of winter, and of course Christmas. Though I still enjoy hanging out with family, Christmas is usually my only break from a long and exhausting week of work. It has become a week I dread now because of how busy my work gets, how much they begin to rely on me, and how little time I actually get to stop and breath.

Well, since it is the only day in the year that most of my family members come together, it is a day to look forward too. ^_^

Yet another holiday season spent alone for me, I just treat it like any other day.  I don't even have any holiday decorations but I should at least try to get into the spirit of the season, you know?

Same. It's partly because my family doesn't celebrate Christmas, and partly because I think most holidays are a bit silly.

Yeah, I know I sound Scrooge-y. Now get back to work, dang it! You ain't gettin' a day off this year.

This isn't pretty but it's what I am tonight.

Mostly, yeah. Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. I love the atmosphere, the decorations, the presents, the cold weather at this point, I love all of it. Granted it has lost some of its magic for me over the years, I don't quite look forward to it as much as I did when I was younger, but I always get wrapped up (ha) in the atmosphere. That's no different this year. Seeing all of these decorations already makes me happy.

This may be an unusual thing for me to say, but I am looking forward to Christmas and bathing in the holiday cheer. Yes, there is a pervasive feeling that it isn't the same which adds a bit of melancholy to some traditions, and I'm not doing everything I normally do this time of year, but the spirit is still very strong with me.

I do it because the family closest to me hates that I'm transgender and acts like I don't exist, if I could visit my aunt that'd be great but she lives in Boston and I live in Canada...  I'd much rather spend the holidays with her.  I don't think there's anything wrong with disliking the holidays. :)

I'm really sorry to hear that. I don't dislike holidays, I just don't feel too much for most of them. It could be cynicism stemming from the fact I have no way to celebrate them though. lol
