WAAAGH. RAGEE.

0kay.

I RP a lot here on the forums, and it really bugs me when people don't spell correctly, or use grammar/punctuation correctly.

So.

This is mostly just a rage post, but feel free to comment and add your rage problems as well.

Some of the most common misspellings are:

You're & Your.

You're- You are, as in 'you're beautiful.'

Your- shows possession, as in 'is that your bike?'

<It's really easy to remember, folks!>

There, their & they're.

There- referring to a place, as in 'are you here or there?'

Their- showing possession, as in 'It's their bike, not mine.'

They're- They are, as in 'They're so annoying!'

<A bit harder, but still pretty easy..>

Here, and hear.

Here- referring to a place, as in 'I'm here.'

Hear- the sense, as in 'I can't hear you.'

Breathe & breath.

Breathe- what you do to live, as in 'I cannot breathe.'

Breath- 'Your breath stinks!'

To, two & too.

To- 'Send this to her.'

Two- counting. 'one, two, three...'

Too- 'can I come too?'

Where & wear.

Where- 'Where are you?'

Wear- 'I don't want to wear those jeans.'

Stare & stair.

Stare- 'Don't stare, it's rude.'

Stair- 'I landed on the last stair.-

Are & our.

Are- 'Are you coming with me?'

Our- 'It's our house.'

It's really not that hard to spell correctly.

And about punctuation.

When someone is speaking, you use "...."

Or, when you're quoting something.

And the little dots? These things- ........

They're called periods.

They're used to end a sentence, and if you don't use them, it looks as if your post is way longer than it should be- which makes it seem like you're rambling.

Also, these ,,,,,,

are called commas.

They're used to put a small pause in a sentence, if you need it.

So instead of saying "I really like that dress and I want to buy it and I love it so much and--"

You would use a comma, like so;

"I really like that dress, and I want to buy it, I love it so much."

It can still be considered rambling, but it looks so much better.

And personally, if I have someone thinking something in a role-play, I use italics.

It helps distinguish where the talking/action ends and the thoughts begin.

And if you start in third person, don't go from 'Emily went to the store. And I bought a candy bar. Then Emily went home. And I slept."

And capitalization,

" I " is always capitalized.

As are names, and places.

For example.

"Emily went to the Smith Library."

You do not need to use capitalization if you say something such as

"Emily went to the store."

And back to spelling real quick-

Most internet browsers provide a spell check, if you spell something wrong, it's usually underlined in red. You don't even have to respell it. Just right click and click on the correct spelling! It's not that hard!

I know I probably sound like a mean person, or sound like I'm rambling.

But this is something that really aggravates me.

As someone who prides himself in having nearly flawless grammar, I am also annoyed when people make such stupid grammar errors. However, there's no need to get so angry about it lol :P

I get where you are coming from.

When I type on the internet, doesn't matter where, I always try for proper spelling and punctuation.

I do get a little mad (being a grammar Nazi), when other people do not.

I can completely understand the anger you get from the grammar errors,

they absolutely annoy the hell out of me.

I really wish more people could spell right.

The average spelling/grammar mistake doesn't bother me, especially since some of our members are ESL.

What bothers me is when the entire rp's progression depends on the response of a certain member, and they take there sweet time to reply -.- ~

I, too, am the grammar police. I have a sudden urge to correct people when they fail at grammar, punctuation, or spelling. Even when they're obvious trolls.

I find it ironic that Shankveld made a grammar mistake on a thread raging about grammar XD

Ah, it's just a small one.

xD

She usually doesn't make them, and she's my wife, so I'll let it slide ;p

I think it's hilarious when someone tries to get into an internet fight with you, and can't spell worth shit.

And then you correct them, and they get so mad. XD

I would totally also know that feel if I actually got into any internet fights.

Oh, on the topic of bad grammar, according to Firefox, "internet" is incorrect. Apparently it's supposed to be "Internet", with a capital "I". The crap, Firefox, the crap?

I have a feeling I'm being targeted >_> I'm just too lazy to run my posts through Microsoft Word before I post them up, alright? XD Which is how I get all these amusing spelling errors.

My grammar can be a nightmare at times but at least I make a point of double checking what I write as to prevent an RP atrocity.

Also while on this tangent....

PEOPLE WHO ROLE PLAY IN CHAT SPEAK!!!!

I really hate it when people type like this:

"HEy GuYs! i JuST bECAMe A BRonY lAst WEeK!"

Turns out that I always forget to put periods at the end of my sentences. I don't mind about minor grammar errors though.

I try to use correct spelling, but sometimes fail (ok, I fail a lot lol). As for periods: When someone places a period at the end of their sentence on the internet and it's not a multi-sentence post, I read it differently. To me it comes across as they're being final and more closed up, whereas if no period is present I'll read it as them being more open and accepting. Thus I sometimes intentionally don't put periods on my short posts. Long posts I feel like you can get a better feel for their mood and tone, and should use periods for clarity.

I do type things stupidly sometimes but it's on purpose. I hate grammar errors too but so long as they're not excessive I'm okay.

I'm not talking about foreign people.

Americans, or people who are brought up speaking English.
