A question for female bronies

Hehe I consider them to be bronies, though I'm a bit biased seeing as I'm a girl myself!

I just don't understand the need for a separate term for female fans of the show. While I respect those who choose to use it, I just personally don't like it and would rather be called a brony. c:

I always liked the term Pegasistersfor female fans, but personallY I feel anyone who likes MLP:FiM whether boy or girl is a "brony".

Since MLP:FiM is just so radically different than the previous series'. Which in my book labels all the fans in the same boat.

Hey fellow female brony! I've loved the show for 3 years, watched all the episodes and have started converting my school friends to join the herd and if that doesnt make me a good MLP fan then what does? I myself believe female bronies dont only exist but should be equal to the steryotype bronies. I usually use the term pegasister instead of brony though.

Well I normally at first refer to girl fans as Pegasisters, I don't really have anything against calling Girl fans bronies though, I just need to be told their preference really.

 

I find most girls would rather just be called brony, and I can't blame them seeing as I don't really like the term Pegasister much, even if I am a guy. It just sounds strange idk. Doesn't ring as well as brony I guess.

 

Whatever they prefer is fine, I call them Pegasisters normally until told otherwise though, just outta habit.

 

Girls can be just as brony as guys though, no rules I heard of against that.

So you know how it all starts? You becoming a bronie and all. For me I was baby sitting a pair of girls who were watching MLP and I was just right then and there memorized. Then when the girls went to bed I sneaked a peak of  part 2 episode of the first season. I didn't really start watching it alot, but totally started  doodleing MLP's at every chance i got.  Then I  watched the episodes on Netflix and now im a bronie. (the shy kind) '_'

You are whatever you call yourself in regards to watching MLP. I don't see why people have to call themselves bronies in the first place they can just like the show. Such a thing is uncommon in fanbases. I can only think of Trekkies as another fanbase that gives themselves a title.

It all depends on how you wish to be presented in the community. I know some girls like to be prefered as a Pegasister. Me myself being a woman, I don't mind being labeled a Brony. I don't want to be labeled with a special name just because of my gender. In a sense, everyone here at heart is a brony no matter the cost. Some girls prefer pegasister because they claim it to be "sexist" when girls aren't "Recognized" as a part of the fandom.

Think of it as the word "Man-Kind." It revolves both woman and man.

I believe that the girl part of the fandom is as important as the male part. Hey, without girls this show would not even be going!

Honestly, the person that got me into ponies in the first place, was a girl. It doesn't surprise me that there are girls apart of the fandom. It seems to me that there aren't that many girls that go out in public that say they like mlp. And for all the guys out there that I KNOW are looking for girlfriends that are bronies. That's a tough one. They are probably the most scarce of the fandom. So I say we embrace pegasisters and maybe do a little converting for more girls over to it

I call them Pegasisters because Brony equals "bro" + "pony", and girls aren't "bros". Simple as that in my mind.

 

It just is jarring to my ear, way more jarring than something slight, like using the term "actor" for actresses (which can also leads to funny things, like an obituary of Carlo Ponti saying he was "a man with an eye for pretty actors").

Personally, I always liked the monicker Pegasister, but it seems to be steadily falling farther out of favor. Brony is acceptable as the all encompassing term for adult fans though. Think of it as Human meaning both man and woman, even though it has MAN in it.

But most girls like me will agree that a brony is anypony over 13 that loves MLP.

Its my opinion that this matter needs to be settled so i offer these questions.

Is a girl a brony?

I always thought that Bronies was a culture of older audiences who enjoy the show, not just specifically to a male audience. I think the term is generally applied to everyone because "pegasister" doesn't sound as catchy.

 

Also, it might just be me, but does anybody else feel that the "classes" of Bronies that fans proclaim themselves to be are just stupid? If you watch the show and enjoy it, I think that person is a Brony. They don't have to buy merchandise or ship the hell out of their favorite characters to be a hardcore fan.

I've never had a problem with it. I've always been under the impression that a brony is anyone who likes this show and or gets involved with activities such as this regardless of age or gender.

 

In fact, i kind of find it silly that a bunch of guys enjoy a show for girls and I'm one of them lol

A brony is someone who is a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, with the possible addition of the other gens.  They can be boys, girls, children, adults.  The only thing stopping them is if they don't like the label.
