Characters that get too much attention?

I'm inclined to think yes, but only partially. The whole Rainbow Dash being a badass, I get it she's great! Awesome. Now, can we give Applejack some more screen time? As for Fluttershy, it's fine no problems there as far as it concerns.

Actually, Applejack gets loads of screen time. It's more episodes to herself that she should get where she isn't outshined by another pony.

The ponies get equal attention from Hasbro. But the reason why people would like certain characters is how well the fans feel that certain pony resembles them. I'm a Fluttershy fan. But I like all of them a lot. I resemble them all in a way, but Fluttershy has more resemblance to how I am. It Also has to deal with a persons mindset.

 

people who love cute things, Love animals, are shy, very nice, or takes care of people, or have amazing voices, go crazy for Fluttershy.

People who are smart, give lectures, like learning, or read will like twilight sparkle.

People who work hard, live on farms, like apples, very trustworthy, or help friends like applejack.

 

People who like dresses, fashion, or cleanliness, likes rarity.

 

It depends on what the character represents and how a person can relate to that pony.

Rainbow, Fluttershy, and Pinkie all have very strong and apparent personalities.

 

Fluttershy is almost too....well....shy to function unless she's really angry and is too damn adorable to even handle.

 

Rainbow is a loud, fun loving, cocky jocktard who still manages to be rather friendly to all the ponies.

 

Pinkie is an overly hyper, annoying party animal who makes it a point to be friends with friggin' everypony.

 

In contrast, Twilight is a nerdy, soft spoken newcomer that's finding her place in the community and generally keeps to herself, unless her paranoia kicks in...

 

Rarity is an uber-feminine drama queen whose major role is to show how awesome and independent that type of character can be.

 

AJ is a hard-working southern belle who, despite being loved and adored by the community is very very humble (I'm sorry, I can find absolutely no fault in AppleJack).

 

More people like the first three because their personalities are more...cut and dry. The other ponies have basic personality traits that make them up but the others are entirely defined by their major personality traits.

Rainbow Dash isn't really overrated. I might be just saying that because I like her character. But I can see why some don't like her because she's "Too stubborn, cocky, etc."

 

Fluttershy... I kinda found her overrated at first. In early episodes, she was kinda one dimensional to me being all shy, but now since she's gained alot more character with episodes like "Dragonshy" and "Putting your hoof down" So right now, I guess I'm neutral on her being overrated.

In my opinion Derpy got too much attention, and in my opinion having her talk was kind of unneeded, I appreciate Studio B's willingness to do something like that for us, I think she sucked all the attention out of applejack's episode with her few lines. I mean I'd rather just have had her stay as the Waldo of each episode. I love the fact that Studio B risked some controversy (and got some flak) for doing the derpy stunt, but I just feel like it didn't need to happen at all!

I totally agree Rarity is my favorite pony of the bunch, with Twilight Sparkle being my second favorite of the Mane 6 :3

RD, i think is overrated. But, then again, I loove Pinkie pie and AJ. and if lots of people were like me about Pinkie and AJ I guess people would think they were overrated.

 

So, no not really, No characters are overrated cause there all awesome to certain people!

I voted No, Basically any of the Mane six can be over rated if given enough time. I think that maybe some ponies need to be used a little less and some a little more. It just depends on who you like.

I guess Rainbow Dash gets a lot of attention due to, you know, she has rainbow mane, and fluttershy i don't really think that she's getting too much attention, maybe there are more episodes talking about her, more than other ponies, but I think It should be between Rainbow Dash and Pinkie, but not talking about the attention they get from the show but from the attention they got from the fandom, I wish Rarity and Applejack could get a little bit more attention, I haven't seen too many episodes talking about her :S

I believe 5 ponies are overpopulated. One of those is..... Myself! It's not a bad thing but I'm the Princess of all Equestria! I HAVE to get a lot of eyes toward me! 4th pony is Pinkie Pie...... I LOVE HER TO DEATH.... but she seems to much for the spotlight. 3rd is FOR SURE.... not Rarity. It's Luna. My sister. 2nd is Spike. He takes A LOT of the show. I love him but i think he should be with a filly who doesn't have a home. 1st is Twilight. Her training is complete and I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 4TH SEASON OF MLP!!! Throughout anyone who watches the show, here's how I see it.

 

Overrated: Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash.

Moderate: Twilight and Pinkie Pie.

Underrated: Rarity and Applejack.

Even though Dashie is still one of my all-time favourites I still think she is getting a bit overrated. I mean its good to be popular but what really bothers me is that most of my friends on deviantART ask me who is ''best pony'' and I respond back that my overall favourite is Pinkie Pie. It seems as if they don't agree with my answer and they say, ''But Rainbow Dash is 20% cooler.''

Rainbow Dash and especially, Fluttershy are both extremely overrated characters, and this is coming from someone who actually likes Dashie. Of course, the most overrated character in the entire show is easily, Princess Luna. Rarity and Applejack are the most underrated characters in the mane 6.

From what I've seen, this seems to be the case. A favorite character is sometimes based on how the person acts, or how they want to act,  so that might be why FS and RD are the most loved.

I really can't see how this is the case by any stretch.  Rarity is always near the bottom of popularity polls, and I've seen only *one* piece of Rarity merchandise outside of the toys, compared to god knows how many for Fluttershy, Dash, and Twilight.

Personally, I feel kinda neutral to Dash being overrated since I do think the other mane six need more of a fanbase, but really, there's other ponies worthy of calling best pony than the mane six. That's kinda what I find that needs more attention. If Derpy gets so little dialogue and everyone loves her to death, then why is it an excuse to call all characters than the mane six flat? And even then when It's not true?

To begin with, how popular a character seems all depends on what circles you are in and what parts of the internet you spend your time on. I will say that Twilight and Rarity overall are not underappreciated at all in my opinion. Twilight Sparkle is the most popular character in the series.

 

I won't deny that many fans like Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy for somewhat superficial reasons (Dash is the cool one, Flutters is the cute one) but at the end of the day they are main characters with enough lovable moments and episodes as anybody and I won't say that they get too much attention. On the contrary, they deserve credit for being great characters. There is at most one character in the series who can match Rainbow Dash in the amount of character development they've received.

 

As for only liking Dash and Flutters because of their appearances deal with it, Dashie has the best design of all time , I don't think that I've seen that, especially. If you want to talk about ponies who have become popular largely because of their appearance and who probably get more attention than they deserve from fans, you'd be better off looking at background ponies and not main characters.

I just got done watching flutter shy's lament on u tube,

there are two kinds of people in the world,
