What's the deal with everyone leaving?

Gone Airbourne

Recommended Posts

the character limit is really annoying I admit, but that's not enough reason in my opinion to leave, I think the problem are the users, I'm completely unaware of what's going on with some users, I only know about all Ol'Sarge thing, but I didn't know that members under 13 got their accounts suspended, that's pretty harsh from the mods to do that.

I recently have read that thread this girl created and that got deleted, wow she was really resentful! too much hate in these forums

This. People come and go, and they have their own reasons. That's just life. I don't know what people are freaking out over. Even during my short time here, I've had some of my posts removed (and even a thread deleted). So what? Whenever a mod took exception with anything I did, they politely explained why. I might disagree sometimes, but I'm not going to get butthurt over anything the staff or another member says/does.

Lack of immaturity and fun things, not everyone has the same boring kid friendly sense of humor(even thought kids these days are way dirtier than some adults lol)

Mods CENSORING EVERYTHING and being 2 authoriative. Sorry if i wanted a 3 year old forum where i cant say anything "Bad"(aka fun) it isnt rly worth it.

Chat was the main source of some fun, since its deletion because mods wanted a boring "lets be mature cuz society taught us its good" i rarely come here and when i do its mostly cuz of boredom

Its hard to find balance between forums, its either 2 boring and lets be mature and make "pretend to care threads" or its the opposite and its full of insane rpers or sex obsessed ppl -_-, finding the right amount of crazy and freedom is hard sadly

Wait...there used to be a chat here? And it was removed because the mods weren't comfortable with its content?

yes if i remember correctly official excuse for its deletion was because mods werent able to police it 24/7... As expected all the fun moments were happening when the mods were off since ppl didnt fear and hold back because a mod might give them warnings...

Aka apparently usa goverment is the chat admin, wants to control everything :P

well we lost some people due to the new age limit so people under 12 had there accounts banned (again sorry to all the respectable members who have had there accounts banned) others have there own personal reasons.

and some just leave due to butthurt after a disagreement with one of the bigger forum members <- but i'm not entirely sure that's true.

Edit:

This is the internet, everyone is as insignificant as everyone else.

true but it wont stop certain people from thinking that , but your post isn't contributing to the topic so could you edit it to add more to the subject a hand Edited by PonyEcho

Where to begin with this disgusting post..

  • You WANT people to be immature? Are you joking me right now. If everyone is immature, the forums would be a vast wastleland of idiocy, and people will leave. Can you imagine every thread being "u mad bro!", with no intellectual people in sight? That is stupid.
  • Mods censoring everything and being too Authoritative... Oh hey, mods have authority. WHO KNEW? I mean, they are mods and all, but hat means they shouldn't have power11!!!11/sarcasm
  • Mods censor things for the safety of the users, and the good of the site. If a guest comes by the site and see's a thread named "INSERT YOUR A INTO MY B" or a fetish thread, they will leave in a second. They are doing their JOB to keeping the forum safe.
  • The chat was disgusting and a piece of garbage. It was removed because it was pointless, and caused stupid arguments to happen every 10 seconds. It was taken away because people abused their privladge of the chat, using it for their dirty intentions.

What is your problem with maturity? You seem to have none of it at all, so you want everyone to be the same. We are all almost/are adults. If we weren't mature, there would be nothing to come to here. And insane roleplayers? Name one, buddy. You can't, because now you're just pulling insults out of your bum. And sex obsessed people? Hey buddy, I have a sex addiction. And you know what, I don't flaunt it around like a game. And you know what? NO ONE ELSE does either.

As I said, you pull these examples out of your bum. You put no thought into your response at all. Why come back if "EVERYONE IS TOO MATURE FOR MY TASTES" and the chat? Just go. No one is stopping you.

Take the hint. The "fun" moments you guys had were extremely sexual and crude. You say other people are sex obsessed, but just take a friendly look back at the things you guys talked about.

Oh, and the America joke? It doesn't work.

1. I dont need to feel better about myself by limiting my talk to "intellectual" and "mature" convos, i do what its fun darling, not wut others say is correct :P EVERYONE WOULD LEAVE? nah the cool funny people would actualyl stay, the boring ppl would leave who cant handle jokes or arguments yet they still want to remain on the internet

2. Exactly the issues, most humans arent able to not abuse their power, and by abuse i dont mean the obvious kind of corruption most ppl imagine, i am talking about slight details in character and changes in behavior

3. No they dont, they censor everything for the safety of other users, they do it because they think they are protecting the kids who already know about that stuff  and of course to make theirselves feel good by being "mature"

4. Oh you can remain in your high and mighty and intellectually rich mountain tops, i prefer to have fun in the bottoms of hell with all the fun and cool people at places like chatrooms B)

I'll tell you why I'm about to leave. It's because the staff is having some serious trust issues with the users and many of them talk with a pretentious attitude and treat the opinions of others like dirt. I wasn't even here for that long, but I know it was a lot better before this character limit - people could interact like people and weren't censored if they didn't "contribute" enough to the threads.

This forum used to be friendly, now it's begun to turn into a bunch of pretentious people telling others whether or not their opinion is good enough for them.

Que the people telling me I fear change. Just one more layer of people telling me they don't need my opinion and that it counts for nothing. Well, I don't expect to be a part of this site for much longer.

Could you say that again, en anglais? All I can detract from this is "I'm immature LOL and I LIKE IT". Not being rude, either, I have no bias here. Sounds like you just can't stand people acting adults -- or even young adults.

2. Exactly the issues, most humans arent able to not abuse their power, and by abuse i dont mean the obvious kind of corruption most ppl imagine, i am talking about slight details in character and changes in behavior

So you attack mods for censoring, but you can't give any sound backing?

3. No they dont, they censor everything for the safety of other users, they do it because they think they are protecting the kids who already know about that stuff  and of course to make theirselves feel good by being "mature"

If the mods were doing it because of that, trust me, I'd be pissed too. They're not doing that. I know a few of the mods who even take a lot of pleasure in "sillier" discussions who also "censor".

4. Oh you can remain in your high and mighty and intellectually rich mountain tops, i prefer to have fun in the bottoms of hell with all the fun and cool people at places like chatrooms B)

... then go to a chatroom... and stop arguing about "maturity" here? Are you trying to act immature for the pleasure of it here? There are things you can "complain" about on these forums, but "maturity of members" should be something to be praised, not admonished.

RE: USA Joke:  Was that actually a joke, or just a stream of random words that had the word "usa" in it?

Guess people just don't want to accept change or don't like it when they feel like they don't play a major role in what happens around here. The Mods do what they think is right to the best of their ability and aren't always happy with the choices they feel they have to make. Just because you don't personally like something doesn't mean it should change. This site isn't here to cater to any single pony. If it's really the character limit and age restriction that are making ponies leave then I would like to wish the best of luck to them finding a better forum. These are just my opinions though.

I'm not leaving anytime soon ;)

But more seriously, just personal stuff might be going on or they just got bored or something, I don't know, im not a mind reader...

I, have to agree with your, people who have an unpopular opinion (a forum related one) here tend to get slammed down no one seems to want to just respect ones opinion and move one they want to try to start an argument then don't get any of the blame when a flame war starts.

however when i look at all the big changes for the forum I look at it from every angle the pro and cons of it before i make my opinion some people just jump to conclusions and kinda rage.

and well if you gona leave well that's your choice and i respect you decision

Let me just set this straight for anyone thinking I don't care about the members-

Yes, I do care about a lot of you. I do think the reasons why you want to leave are a bit silly, but I still don't want you to leave. There are a certain few who I am going to be a bit sad when they leave, but I will respect your decision. Like Hollowshield. I can see why you want to leave, but it doesn't mean I am going to like it.

I am going to miss a lot of you. Some, not at all. But the few who are respectable enough to be calm and collected as they leave will get my farewells, and not in a sarcastic fashion.

This place is my home, and it saddens me to see people think it is going down the dumps. It isn't. The staff is just taking precautions to fix the errors of what happened to the site, such as dropping quality. I know people see this as elitism, but as an old forum runner, it is very well needed.

So, goodbye to anyone leaving. For the select few who are mature enough to give a proper goodbye, I salute you, and hope you someday return.

Here's something I noticed. There's the argument where "free thinkers" believe the mods are censoring people and keeping things in lockdown, therefore being shit and making these forums shit.

On the other hand, forumers commend the mods for doing their job - cleaning up crap so that the forums look SPARKLY And SHINEY AND OOOOOOOOOOO- and all in all, making sure the people are having safe, clean, mature (interpret that anyway you please) fun.

Ever thought that some people may leave because of discussions like this that appear everywhere from Everfree to the Sugarcube to Canterlot Castle to even the damned status updates?

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. ^

Unfortunately, I guess that's what you're going to get when you have a large part of the community that is fresh to the internet -- once you've been online for a while, you learn the value of not sharing every last bad thought you have publicly, you learn not to complain for what you want, and you learn not to use Mods as a scapegoat for everything that goes wrong.

It's unfortunate that even on friendly forums like this, people seem to enjoy not getting along with each other.

Yes, "enjoy".

Causing drama so others feel sorry for you. So you feel sorry for you. No amount of moderation can stop that.

Just my take on your point; perhaps further than you'd agree, but eh, "debate". B)

If people want to leave, that's their business and good luck and have a nice day. Tears will be shed for the first 4 seconds and then we all move on.

Those who want to stay but don't agree with how operations are performed, stand up and say something about it. There's a Feedback and Questions forum for that. Want public backing in case the staff will try to gang up on you? Post it in the forum so we all can see it and your peers can provide that backing or disagree with it.

Those who want to stay and enjoy the forums as is, then good on you and thanks for contributing.

No one is forcing another person to stay here. You have your own free choice to stay or go. I've stayed since day 1 for a reason. I enjoy the occasional discussions, I've met some cool people, and I like to spread my wit and humor to make others laugh or at least smirk. That's why I stay and attempt to do what I can to make the site a better place for EVERYONE, not just the mods or not just the members.

Hmmm.... This forum has grown to such a large size that it has it's own migration periods. The additions and subtractions to the site is 80 to 90% caused by us. The Mods listen to our feedback and act accordingly so that all of us forum goers can have the enjoyable experience that existed since it began. If there is a change that concerns you, go tell a Mod. They will listen and either support you or explain why the change was made. Also some MAJOR changes may need to be implemented to protect the security of users that are of a young age (the open letter from Ol' Sarge). It can be very risky to have individuals that view content that is illegal for them if they are underage.

Back to the topic, people are leaving because they either disagree with changes that have been or are going to be made or just feel the forums have become stale.

The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?

There will always be some people who leave as the forums change and grow. I can't look down on anyone for that reason.

There are many things I liked about these forums that were present in October and weren't there once we hit a large quantity of members. Of course you can always adapt or move on.

There's not much to be concerned about, as long as we aren't having a mass exodus.

'the forums have changed', 'I have lost connection'.

I'm gonna risk looking insensitive and give my opinions on these reasons a lot of people seem to use.

Everything changes. Your friends in real life have changes all the time, too. Life is never a constant, it's constantly changing and fluctuating. So do websites, as they constantly gain new people, as well as have all those humans who, as I've mentioned, change in of themselves. Ideally, if you love any given website enough, you can tackle these changes you see; you can remain active so you don't feel alienated, you can talk with staff about issues, and perhaps they can assist, if not only give you another way to deal with or view the situation, and of course, talk to friends, who should be able to help you cope if things truly do seem different for you, and not as appealing as they were at one time.

Now I can certainly shrug and wish you the best of luck with no quarrels with your reasons of 'It just isn't the same anymore' and 'I just feel I want to move on', but leaving solely because things are changing is a bit...I don't know, I can't think of a word. Change is a natural part of life. Sometimes it's big, sometimes it's small, but there's always going to be things that are good and bad about it. In the end, the forum is still the forum, no matter what aspects of it's community, make up or staff may shift from what they used to be.

I just don't find it as valid a reason for leaving or becoming inactive as it could be :3

Wait. I'm not imprisoned by Feld0 on this site?

*Shocked*

In all seriousness I don't think that many people are leaving.

I saw 1 or 2 but that's about it. But if I had to give a reason, maybe it's the character limit.

(Which is extremely easy to do by the way. It's just 100 letters.)

I'm here like a blueberry stain, on it for good.

But the again, people might also be leaving because no new ponies in so long leaves them with nothing to discuss, should be remedied with season 3.

there seems to be a lot going on in the forums now, and when abnormal activity is arising, it will always, ALWAYS be more noticeable and detected by people, which leads to threads like these. only thing i can see with people leaving is the new age restriction being implemented. remember, people, that it was for a good cause. legal purposes. and people not ending up like Ol Sarge on here. honestly, i think this is going to blow over soon. remember that shitstorm when the new mods were added? don't see much of that now, do you? same thing should happen to this, too.

if you don't like the changes, and wishes to leave, then do so. it's your opinion, and no one is stopping you from having it. move on and be happy with you paving a new road in your life, and such. there will always be new people coming onto this site, and when S3 begins, it should increase further. life is not constant; it's always flowing, after all.

im not worried. im still pretty new here, and don't know any of you very well, but i understand whats happening. on the last forums i was active in (for 7 years) we had new rules go up from time to time, and with each new rule people got upset and left over it. some did come back, some stayed away, but most people just bitched about it, and got over it. newbies always came, and it was fine. the new rule is always "the new drama", and there will always be drama on forums. always. i like it here. im not worried about people leaving. theres always newbs. im going to stay. and i like the new rule.
