Disappointed by the lack of Rarity this season?

It is my understanding that a number of you out there are concerned that Rarity has been demoted to "Best Background Pony" this season, considering that there hasn't been a single Rarity-centered season 3 episode, and there seem to be none in sight.

 

And so, I have brought in former "Best Background Pony" Applejack to tell you all, from her own experiences, why this isn't so bad:

There are to be no Rarity episodes this season.

 

This wouldn't bother me, considering the awesome episodes this season, but it does due to who the next 3 episodes are centered on.

 

Keep Calm and Flutter On isn't a problem, because it's a Flutters episode and she hasn't had one yet this season.

 

Just for Sidekicks is another Spike episode. Which isn't the worst, but I don't like Spike nearly as much as Rarity, it may also be a partially Twilight episode. Which is fine.

 

Games That Ponies Play is what bothers me. Perhaps it's because I had high hopes this would be a Rarity episode, but it may also be because of who it's centered on (supposedly).

 

Cadance.

 

Cadance is a princess. She gets her own episode? Celestia never has, Luna has gotten one. So we are pushing the lovely Rarity away for a princess that has only been around for a season? That's very dissapointing in my opinion, being a Rarity fan. Re-watching Sweet and Elite made me realize how much Rarity needs episodes to focus on her. Why? BEcause otherwise she looks greedy and prissy. Not every episode needs to be about her, obviously, but there shouldn't be a lack of them for that long.

 

My hopes is that she gets at least 2 episodes in season 4.

well, this season (in my insane mind) seemed to center around applejack and other underused characters. in addition to this season being only 13 episodes I figured Rarity would be pulled for a bit. Rarity will be back most defiantly. And I do not think this foreshadowed Rarity being a rarity in S3 though

This honestly does not bother me in the slightest because she is kind of my least favorite character in the series. I don't hate her per se, it's just that I'm not really a big fan of hers

She already had quite a bit of screen time in season 2 so season 3 is bound to have less Rarity

Well, as a Rarity fan myself, I would love her to get another focus episode. However, as long as she still gets screentime, and continues to be her fabulous self, I will be content to wait until next season.

Im not too disappointed with the lack of Rarity this season it's been to exceptional for me to dislike the season simply because it lacked one of the mane 6. At least this season has a little excuse because it had 13 episodes compared to the usual 26. Which means they had less room to spread out the character focus. Season 2 had little Appejack in it so I guess it's Raritys turn :3.

I like to think of Season Three as a small and quiet feature that is only a foreboding (like ME2) to a bigger and grander event that is Season 4 (like ME3).

 

We'll get some Rarity next season, and it'll be good.

No Rarity episodes are scheduled for this season, but that's not a bad thing in my book. She got loads of screen time in the other two seasons, so I think she's taking a break. I don't think she needs more character development, because I think everybody knows who Rarity is now...

I understand your pain, but do you think Princess Celestia is bound to have a heavy role since she told the Mane Six to do something? The way I see it, you attribute Princess Cadance for having a more important role in the plot than Rarity for instigating it, thereby technically making the episode "hers", yet you also say that Celestia doesn't have her own episode yet despite doing the exact same thing multiple other times. I'm guessing the fact Cadance is a newer character who seems to be more involved in the ponies' exploits than Celestia may have something to do with your troubles with her, but still...

Lol at confusion on what it means to be a background pony.

 

Applejack was, and still is considered a background pony because whenever she showed up on screen, she was as interesting as one. 

 

it had nothing to do with screen time.

 

Rarity, however, is still interesting to see on screen. So she can't be considered a background pony. 

 

My overall thoughts on this is, I don't really care. I'm not really a rarity fan. :/

Also I'm going to correct myself, the episode after Flutters' episode is probably going to be a Spike x Twi episode. And the supposed Cadance episode, while she is certainly going to have a big part, may not be completely about her.

I do wish there would have been more Rarity in this season. Anyway, I'm sure there'll be more of her next season. We can only hope, though. I don't see why they wouldn't show her.

The lack of Rarity is a shame. But I have no doubt they'll give her a couple of episodes in the fourth season. And if not...I expect something else to happen behind the scenes:

Thinking about this a bit, it just occurred to me that there are two Spike episodes this season, yet none for Rarity.  That's just wrong.

 

Oh well.  Here's hoping that she remains an awesome supporting character in the episodes to come.

Season Three is half the episodes of the other seasons, so you should wait till the end of season 4 before you say that some pony got not enough episodes, because only with another 13 episode season it would count as a full season.

 

That's my thoughts about that.

 

Also do not worry, I am pretty sure the MLP developers will give everypony their screentime, AJ got hers, Rarity will get hers.

I was just wondering this, realizing that wow, no Rarity. Everypony else got an episode! I felt that the last Spike Episode was doing double duty as an AJ episode. I loooove Rarity so I'm very sad, but I think I love her so much because she did get a lot of attention in the last season. I hate having a short season. I started watching the show halfway through season 2 so I could just watch as many episodes in a day as I liked. Being all caught up and waiting is painful. 

 

The thing is even in group episodes I felt like Rarity has hardly been there.
