Aaahhh, music. It’s been around for as long as I know.

Which is like, a million years.

I’m immortal.

Highlander.

Anyways, music plays a very vital role in every society. But how does it affect you?

For me, music plays a very big role in my life. Listening to it always put me in a good mood, be it Drum and Bass, House or even Orchestral, I LAAAWWWVE musique. I even have a natural talent for playing the Trumpet! mlp-dawesome.png

I'd probably kill myself if I ever went deaf/other reason I could no longer have music. To me, it's one of the very few things truly worth living for, and I just wouldn't be able to keep my sanity without it.

A few years ago, music wasn't really all that important to me.  I had a little playlist that I would listen to whilst doing homework and after that I would be done with it.  Sometimes I would wonder what some of the music from some movies were, but beyond that, my interest in music was void.  For the past year, though, I can hardly live without it.  Mainly because my main source of entertainment (computer games) has practically been taken away from me because our desktop broke and we haven't gotton around to fixing it.  It's really the only thing that keeps me sane nowadays.

My love for music goes back to the good old days of when I first started playing the piano, at around age 5. From there, I was introduced to all sorts of music: Piano, Rock, Orchestral, New Age...and I remember when we used to watch an Irish tap-dancer Michael Flatley (The Lord of the Dance) and I loved the score by Ronan Hardiman more than anything...that got me into a lot of Celtic and Irish inspired stuff. Everything from movie soundtracks to marry-had-a-little-lamb, music is the most universal language to date. To express my love for music, I can only say:

Music is a gift, truly an inspirational one.

It brings warmth to a shivering soul as if it were the very rays of the sun.

It binds us, brings us together, and has the ability to spread love.

It teaches, it inspires, as if it came from up above.

Music at its core is the very essence of human creativity,

just look at all we can accomplish with music: love, feelings, serendipity!

Yes, this thing called music we all love so dearly,

because if you and I are from different worlds...with music, I can hear you clearly!

I'm most certainly not one of those oooommmggg music is my liiiiifffee!!! without my ipod i would ttlly die!!! kids. I enjoy music, and I enjoy good music, but not where it is a huge part of who I am. I'm not lyrical, I don't sing or write songs. It's pretty darn important to me, but most certainly not my entire life.

You know, music is very important to me. It's made me skip rhythmically when I'm listening to an upbeat song like "Walking on Sunshine" when I'm happy. It's helped me to better deal with my heavier emotions when I'm upset. And some songs like "The Power of Love" help me keep my head up when I think I'll remain perpetually single.

One genre that I think that gets way too much hate is classical. Sure, it's 300 years old but it's just as relevant then as it is now. And I know that dubstep haters will throw eggs at my car for this, but I think classical and dubstep have something in common: the absence of lyrics. (I consider classical and opera to be similar but not the same thing in that they use the same instruments but opera has a singer. While this may not be technically correct, it's how I consider it and I'll continue to use these terms until I am educated otherwise by a reputable source).. Anyway, I think both classical and dubstep allow you to draw pictures with your mind based on what you hear. Now, the major difference is in the length of a piece in each genre. Dubstep may go anywhere from 2 to 8 minutes. Classical, on the other hand, can be over an hour long. This is very useful to me because I have trouble sleeping. Classical music allows me to lay down, close my eyes, and draw pictures with my mind for 30 to 60 minutes. By the time the song is over and my iHome turns off, I'm already asleep. Majestic, beautiful, and serene pieces are the ones that I find are the best for me. Songs so beautiful, they send chills down your spine...I love that kind of thing. One of my favorites is Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major. Yes, I heard it when I saw Fantasia lol

Anyway, to answer the question, music has always been a major part of my life. Therefore, it will remain a big part of my life. I think that the music we listen to reflects a whole lot of who we are and the things we relate to. I love music! :D I only wish I didn't suck so much at playing it!

I'd probably burst into flames if I went a day without my iPod.

One thing I love about music is how it plays with your emotions. Classical music gets you focused and calm, while electro can get you moving to an addicting beat. The anthropology behind it is rather astounding interesting - the way humans behave and interact on the sole cause of music has always amazed me.

Music is of great importance to me and for many reasons. If music didn't exist I'd probably be in an asylum for whatever cause and you wouldn't be reading my post right now. Music keeps me sane (mostly).

I'm such a music buff. I can't live without it. If I had my way, I'd listen to it non stop all day everyday. But unfortuntly work gets In the way. And then the MP3 has to be put away and shut off. But if you're referring to MLP remixes and music in general. I can't get enough of it. And now that the last season 3 ep has been aired, I'm going to be listening too and memorizing all the lyrics from the last seasons shows just because of my love of them and all the musical intuition that has given the fans so much new material to transform into their own masterpieces. So much of the shows music has been inspirational to me. I can almost relate my whole lives experances in what I've heard from the songs themselves. At this point, the show is just more of the same and basically explains my life outside of what the songs symbolize. Albeit. The show is so much more fun to watch and relate to then just singing along to a minute and a half song. However fun it is too remember the lyrics. I'm forever hopeful and praying that Hasboro and the HUB do make season 4. But I'm also not too worried. For who in the right company mind would let such a great show with such a long list of unexpected fans/viewers go?

I'm definitely not one of the people of my own generation who have to have music on them at all times. I have owned an iPod since they have come out and have only really used it in my car.

I do love playing music around my house & at my computer, but sometimes I like silence or to hear the sounds of other things as well. I'm also kind of weird in the way that I don't really like discussing music too terribly much. Most people like going on about their favorite bands or genres or seek out music, I just kind of let it come to me. Come to think of it, I haven't really met anyone like me, I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority of people I know at least.

Music is one of the biggest things in my life. I listen to all kinds of it from techno to metal and I always like to have some going. I don't have any musical talent that I know of, but I'm following brony music more than I used to. (Check out Jastrian on Youtube, he's a friend of mine. :))

I love music - it permeates every aspect of my life, but as a writer (mostly original, some fan fiction) it gains an extra layer of importance.  If I'm suffering from writer's block, a good, fitting song can get me over the hump, but even better, listening to the right song while writing a scene can improve my word choice, flow, writing speed, and general creativity.  It's like creativity steroids.

Past that, if I'm listening to a really, really good song, it gets me feeling almost... euphoric, I suppose.  Not just happy, but beyond happy - happy in a way that nothing else can come close to emulating.

So yeah, music is pretty big for me XD

When I was a really young kid I didn't really care much about music, all my friends were listening music all the time and everyone used to listen to almost the same person and genre (which was like Beyonce and techno music). It's not that I hated music or anything though, it's just that I wasn't interested in it.

Throughout a couple of years I just kept listening to my sister's music, my dad's, and basically everyone. I started to listen to songs I like which was mostly Rock x) When Dubstep started becoming popular I admit I liked it a bit more than I should of, then months later dubstep just got annoying and appeared in almost every youtube video I watched. I didn't mind it at first but then it felt like dubstep was getting more 'screech-ier' I stopped listening to the usual techo/dubstep/dnb/house type of music and went back to rock and the 'popular' songs (The ones with actual, proper lyrics, not "yolo yolo yolo swag swag swag money money money") and really enjoyed listening to music more than I ever used to.

Basically to me, 'real' music is probably really important to me. Although I can safely say that the usual 'drugs, sex, dubstep language' type of music is something we can all live without >.<

I actually love music quite a bit. It makes the world just that much better of a place to be. I didn't care for it that much a few years ago. I mean, I still carried my Ipod around every day, but that was mostly just to keep up with it.

Now I usually can't leave without it. And if I have to then I make sure to know where its at so I don't have to go without it anymore.

Its become a pretty decent part of my life. Nothing extreme and its definitely not the main thing about me since I hold video games at the top spot, but its definitely grown a lot as a part of me.

Basically to me, 'real' music is probably really important to me. Although I can safely say that the usual 'drugs, sex, dubstep language' type of music is something we can all live without >.<

Sir, if you're trying to imply that any form of music regardless of language, type, and content/references is not "real" music, then that just kinda invalidates your whole opinion on the matter. Its fine to say you dislike a type of music, hell, you could even say that you believe it shouldn't exist cause you dislike it so much, but trying to say its not "real" is just too far.

And no, you can't safely say that actually. You could live without it. Some others couldn't. Don't try to speak for everyone.

Music is a pretty big part of my life. Unless I'm reading or socialising, I'm listen to it constantly. (and even then, I still do sometimes.) I actually panic if the batteries in my Walkman die whilst I'm out. In fact, I now carry spares around with me. I kinda dabble in making music as well, both with real instruments and with DAW's. (Although I've hardly touched my instruments in three years because of uni. I dread to think how bad I've gotten.)

Music is kinda interesting. In modern society, and in ancient ones as well, music seems to be the most popular form of art. These days, music appears to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest art industry, and people seem to connect with music better then with most visual forms of art. Of course, you could argue that film is a huge industry as well, but film is multi-sensory, and relies heavily on sound as well. Most people seem to connect better on an emotional level to music then, say, a painting, or an illustration. I guess I'm no exception to that. I have been touched emotionally by paintings and drawings, but not as frequently as with music. To be honest, I find it kind of frustrating. Whilst music is a big part of my life, visual art is even bigger, and still, I'm more easily moved by music. I actually spoke to my friend about it, she said, "Humans tend to connect more emotionally to music, rather then a painting. The sad truth is that with most people, drawings and paintings are a disposable art form. They're appreciated with regards to skill and what the human can achieve. They look at it once, go "wow", and then move on. However, most people are able to connect to music on a more emotional level, and listen to it repeatedly."

I guess you could look at in on a smaller scale as well. Take Bronies, for example. There's quite a few skilled Brony musicians and producers who have developed a pretty descent fanbase. Illustrators, on the other hand, even the really good ones, whilst they are appreciated, they aren't as well recognised as some of the music artists.

Oh, this isn't a rant or me trying to bash music or anything, just something I've picked up on.

Well, I make music, and I enjoy making it more than anything else, and if I were dumb enough to risk my future in that way I would be studying it instead of computer science right now, so yeah, I think it might be kinda important to me.

Music is probably the biggest part of my life. There can never be enough people trying to create their own beautiful sounds. With so many instruments, so many tools, and with so much variety in how it can be created. Like so many others, I just can't imagine what my life would be like if I never picked up a guitar. Sure, it's a cut-throat industry with sketchy studios and rip-off record companies, but I just don't want to be a part of anything else.

Music sometimes has such a soothing effect on me. It really helps to get rid of stress. I know for sure that I would be really sad if I was deaf. Thank God I am not. Also in games, movies etc. music has a really important role. It adds so much atmosphere. I love atmosphere.

Music is sometimes the only thing that can help you

I love music. I don't really know what else to say, music can be a very powerful and moving thing. I mainly listen to classical, orchestrated and instrumental music because I'm not a big fan of lyrics in many cases. I like to let the instruments do the talking unless the singer's voice actually adds something significant to the feel of the song.

But yes, it's a great feeling to hear some fantastic music and just ignore all life's problems for even just a few minutes. For me, it's sort of a hypnotizing experience when I find a good song.
