What do you think about when you can't sleep?

Generally anything that gives me warm and fuzzy feelings, I've found listening to music and reading something(or even looking at pictures) that make you feel nice helps a lot, these are two songs that seem to do it for me:

I think of all the ways I failed throughout the day, little and small. Then my thoughts turn towards the personality flaws that led to those failures, which in turn leads to me to analyze my entire life. The conclusions I draw are inevitably negative and I weep silently into my pillow before falling asleep. 

 

Then I do it all over again the next night.

I usually think about how cool technology will be in the future. Imagining myself in modern Sonic The Hedgehogs body. Or a random pony from the show. And other than that I think about tommorow. My friends. If somebody is going to hate on me tommorow. Or about these forums xD

Ah, bedtime. When the lights are out and everything is off is probably when my mind wanders most- I think about stuff like what it would be like to live in Equestria, what I'll do next in whatever game I'm playing, general things I'll want to do the next day, all that good stuff. :lol:

But when I can't sleep as in really can't sleep, I think about going to sleep and it doesn't help at all... >.<

Doesn't happen very often though. :P

I usually think about things that make me upset. I think about people I've lost and problems I'm having. Usually, this would stress me out, but when I cant sleep, it actually helps calm me down. When I'm thinking about the stressful things in my life, I can figure out better ways to help them than just stressing out about them. So I think about things like that. 

 

If that doesn't fulfill my brain's need to stay active, I plan out my future. I think about future kid names, where I want to live, and what I really want to do with my life overall. I'm also usually thinking about any new art pieces I currently have in the making or am thinking about starting soon. Art is almost always on my mind.

There are usually only three things that can prevent me from sleeping: Anxiety/Depression, excitement for something, or just not being tired. If I am feeling the first one, sadly, I usually am worrying about many different things and thinking of thought of self inferiority and other things that I shouldn't. Never ending spiral that is. With the second one, I just think about whatever I am excited about (this happened recently). I find that to be a lot better than the first option. With the third one, random stuff usually. If I am not exactly tired at that moment, I will just think of many different things. My mind is usually very active most of the time.

There's a lot of things I may think of when I can't sleep but mostly it's depression and how it'd be like to be happy, or it could be someone I love in life that I know I have absolutelyn o chance with because who would like to be with someone like myself? Really?

Normally it's what-if sort of situations like planning if I can do something to get a female to like myself or something similar and normally it becomes to be a good plan but I always wimp out out the last second, as I really don't have the courage to do it myself, or it could be on how I could be someone I love I know I'd never have a chance with to like me, normally those plans are stupid and would never work, but I think of them anyway, other than that I think about how lonely my life is and how much better it would be to have someone and actually some real friends, though that as per say is common.

I usually think about my life. Or what will happen tomorrow, or the next day. I guess I'm afraid of the future and I want to know what happens next. 

 

I usually listen to music before I go to bed so I also imagine myself Djing or singing in front of a crowd. But that's only a dream because I have stage fright. sad.png

 

?sometimes I dream of living in Equestria because it would be a better life than the one I have now.

I usually am freaked out by SOMETHING (I'm a total scaredy cat) but when I'm not obsessing over something I saw, I usually either:

 

a.) Curse the neighbors across the street for not shutting off their car alarms

b.) Think about, if I could audition for movies, which ones would I audition for? How was the audition? And weird stuff like that

c.) Think about some AMAZING idea for a poem or something, so I have to get up, write it down, and then try falling back asleep...

d.) Think about how annoying it is when you really need to go to sleep but you can't.

When i can't sleep, its usually because my mind won't shut off about something that's making me feel anxious.

In that case i usually try to stop thinking and just let my mind rest for a moment.... usually unsuccessfully because my mind returns to whatever's making me worry unsure.png

When I cannot sleep, I usually try NOT to think, as that is usually the thing stopping me from sleeping.

 

But since that normally fails, I end up thinking about everything.

When I have trouble sleeping, I often try resolving the problems that led me to not being able to sleep in the first place. I find some way to comfort myself and to plan ahead so that the problems I have won't be as bad as I perceived them. In most other cases, I just try to find some comfort thinking about my crush and being able to imagine her in my sleep.

I usually just think about happy things, like if I have a crush I kinda imagine him asking me out... :blush:

Most of the time, it's just general things relating to life. Used to be quite negative (my life sucked before I met my BF, and it still kind of isn't great) and depressing enough to make me really want to sleep as long as I could so I didn't have to (for hours on end sometimes), but now it's flooded with thoughts of... him... and I snuggle my blanket as if it were his cuddly chest and it puts me to sleep quickly enough. :blush:

I think about the fact that I'm not able to fall asleep and get myself even more frustrated. Lol.

If I need to sleep, but can't, I don't want to think about anything, and especially not music or song. Which is where my mind goes into that, which is really fun because most melodies I have ever composed gets so much better when reviewed like that. I hate it though!
