DigiBrony wanting to die out of the Fandom

im not quite understanding how everyone is using the word fandom.....i always just assumed liking the cartoon was considered being part of the fandom, I have a few things of MLP and watched all the episodes, I dont do fan fictions or art or have a huge obsession for the show, i simply like it as much as I like starcraft or sci fi.....so am i part of the fandom? if he quits the fandom does he remove all his merchandise and stop watching the cartoon cold turkey? or does that mean he brings down his fandom to a certain limit?

I don't really care. There are still other analysts left. He can take DiH with him if possible. That anti brony opportunist only does it for the money anyway.

Dissecting a show is like dissecting a frog: you understand how it works better, but it dies in the process.

That avatar fits.

Also Digibrony doesn't analyse anything he makes observations that anyone could. And there called reviews digi call them 'analysis' all you like, pretention doesn't equal talent.

I don't really care. There are still other analysts left. He can take DiH with him if possible. That anti brony opportunist only does it for the money anyway.

So does digi though, he's said he makes his 'analysis' simple in order to reach more people.

DIH is just a narcissist, he has some comedic timing skills and a massive ego but he's not smart enough to actually critique

so he basically rips of tgwtg reviewers and in order to somehow be relevant he decides to be 'edgy'. Because he isn't smart or really

very creative he thinks being edgy means acting like the younger audience on /mlp/ even using there amazing catchphrases like 'fag' and 'autistic'.

Did Digibro change recently? I used to watch his videos a couple years back, and they were really cool and he seemed like a nice guy, and he presented his opinions fairly as I could see. Then I watched two from this year, and I see his OC looking crazy and smoking (no offense intended but look at it, I'd be surprised if it wasn't intended to look crazy in the first place), and him cussing and talking about screwing Applejack and Fluttershy?

What happened? :o

Eh now that I think about it, maybe his OC redesign is supposed to be a parody of the stereotypical "deep thinker", just smokes and talks a lot without bothering to look presentable.

I personally couldn't care less, as I couldn't care less about reviewers and analysts :3 Only thing similar of which I enjoy watching on Youtube are blind reactions, but a video of someone talking in-depth about what they did and didn't like. That sort of thing is great at the end of a reaction, but I'd rather converse digitally about afterthoughts and headcanons, than watch a video of someone doing a lengthy review.

First Tombstone says the fandom's starting to creep him out, now this? x) Geez. Guess even when the S4 finale ended great for most, drama still finds a way.

I know I'm not loosing any sleep over it... to me it falls in to that "there's the door, don't let it hit you in the tail on the way out" (and even then I wouldn't care)

Really, it's his decision in the end. If he's leaving the fandom, or even if he just stepped down from his role as an analyst and became a casual fan, no-one can change his mind if he's already made the choice. I did like his videos, but if he's moving on, I don't feel it's my place to say he shouldn't

I have to agree with most of you. Digi use to be far more upbeat in his earlier videos. His earlier stuff is what got me into watching these analyst videos. I used to watch the others too, to see how their opinions differ. Lately though? I had to stop watching because he just seemed to change drastically. He seemed far more depressed and cynical than he used to, probably brought on by something in his life he doesn't want to talk about.

I do see a lot of the older fans leaving, now that the fandom seems to have grown exponentially. To me, taking this objectively and with a grain of salt, it seems as if they resent all the "Psuedo-Bronies" who are only here to make a quick buck, get chicks, or just to be part of the mainstream. Even I get some negative thoughts at times when thinking about the future of the fandom. I feel like this fandom is turning into the next Trekkies or Star Wars fans and that scares me.

I'm still subbed to him. It helps that I've always been interested in anime (that's his thing now/again), but eh. I enjoyed him enough to stay.

I was sad to see him go, and miss his pony content, but I can definitely see where he was coming from, and it was his decision to make. Besides, it sounds like he may do isolated pony vids in the future if he cares enough to say something about a new episode, and more importantly, there are still lots of other great analysts out there. All is well.

In essence, his work is an extension of his mind. If he can't be proud of it, or at least find a modicum of simply joy, he should do what's best for him and quit. While it's certain that many will disagree and think he should power through this, i think you ought to give him some credit as it takes a lot of courage to cease up and go.

Wow, this thread is still a thing?

I'm actually a little surprised of the hate he's getting here and a lof of misconceptions about reviewers and digi in general.

Yes, he's a biased reviewer, but that's part of the reviewing process. You can't do any review without a little bias mixed in. He never states anything he says as an objective fact (unless he specifically states he believes that his opinion is true, such as his opinions about anime fandoms). It's a raw opinion that we can relate or not relate to depending on the person.

As for anyone not liking reviewers/analysis, I find that watching/reading reviews is both entertaining and informative. I can listen to other's perspectives and opinions to learn from them. I can bounce my opinions off of their points about the same elements in an episode. It's an enrichening experience in both a social and intellectual way. And if I didnt like his opinion on something then I would let it go. He can go drown in his own grievances.

I personally found Digi's videos fun and Digi himself interesting. He's positive in many ways but also spiteful as any human being would be when disliking media in some way. He admits to being an a-hole and I appreciate that kind of honesty because I relate to that mindset.

As for the reaction to his departure I honestly stress that we should all not care really. So what? People get disinterested in stuff and if he's an independent content creator so he decides what to focus his interest on. If anything we should just move on.

One less analyst putting thoughts of "MLP is goin downhill" into people's brains.

I'm okay with that.

At no point did he say that. He specifically mentions that the show no longer contained the spark that encouraged him to be so excited and active in the fandom. That's not him thinking the show is bad, it's the show changing something that he subjectively liked about it and thus spawned his disinterest.

He's the direct cause for many people thinking that MLP has lost "it's spark" (bleh), as he is the most well-known analyst, and the most vocal one.

I guarantee you.

If analysts kept to themselves and were never a thing, there'd be less people whining about how "MLP isn't what it used to be" (because hell, I know nothing about all that stuff analysts spout aabout (like "adsfasvas McCarthy is the devil"), I just watch the show, and every new episode is an adventure for me).

It doesn't effect me what these dudes say. It's the IMPACT they have on individual people. Some people will just blindly nod to what they say and shape their opinions and prejudices on their views.

You can argue that's the point of reviews and analyzers, but hey, doesn't make it right.

So first of all there is no proof to your claim that Digi started that.

That's just plain silly to think that is. Many reviewers have made the same note that something is different about the show. (Which may I remind you is a perfectly normal thing be it good or bad) I agree with them too, as I noticed ever since the first few episodes of Season 4 the overall mood and direction of the series has changed.

Initially your argument has nothing to do with the Reviewers but the audience that follows them.

On many occasions Ive seen Reviewers address and elaborate on a point to specify that their opinion shouldn't effect the viewer. But unfortunately people don't listen and take things too seriously. That's not the reviewers fault, its the community.

If you really think removing these reviewers is the solution, then yours promoting a less insightful, ill-diverse, and non-informed community.

I simply cannot promote such an idea just because a few people feel the reviewers words are taken in such high regard.

Honestly, I understand what you're saying, but we should respect his decision. We can't force him to stay in the fandom, it isn't out way. Also, if we did force him to stay in the fandom, do you really think he would be happy doing something he wasn't interested in? A Brony can get burned out every once in a while if there's too much pony-related stuff on their shoulders, I've been there before as well. ^^"

Though I can agree that the show has a different tone. What I can't agree on is that it being different instantly means it's bad. It's a mentality I don't like in general. Even if the show is so different, it still manages to keep the same elements that made it good in the first place. Now, I kind of did predict Digi would probably leave since it started to seem like he hated more episodes than he liked. I honestly don't care if he leaves. It's his choice.

I admit, the throng of people that have been whining about the show "going south" since S3 have been getting on my nerves as well, I feel like people are wearing really thick Nostalgia Goggles and putting expectations on the show that S1 didn't even meet in hindsight.

He's basically said he used the fandom for YouTube fame in numerous podcasts. The only reason he got popular in the first place was because he uploaded MLP related videos right after the first Hasbro content ID scanning, ie if you typed in'My Little Pony episode' into YouTube he would come up and not an episode. I'm sure he knows this because he's talked about Hasbro content id many times.
