I like tumblr! I was addicted it to for a while, and was so proud because Tumblr was all for diversity and originality. I think I became more open-minded, and I learned all about the different kind of genders and sexualities. Then.. I crashed into the wrong community. I found the SJWs, feminazis (and I'm a feminist), Cisophobes, and white racism. It was so sad to see that the want of diversity and love for all turned into anger for everyone who WAS comfortable in their gender, romantic preferences, and race. I didn't understand it.

Of course, I still stick around. But I just stay with the funny, fandom side of Tumblr. The art and gifs are good, and so is most of the community. Just gotta learn how to navigate through the site.

I find Tumblr really hard to navigate. I don't think I could ever follow a discussion on there without getting confused, but I do sometimes go on it to read one or two blogs. Though I've got to say, even doing that I seem to see a lot of drama, so that makes me want to steer clear.

A lot of people really seem to hate tumblr and I don't really get why.

I don't get what's so bad with it other than the fact that at times it can be full of idiots.

It's also kind of a waste of time, but so are a lot of things people do.

I'm ok with it and I use it, but if someone could tell my why so many people get their panties in a twist over tumblr, that would be cool.

Tumblr has some of the most insane people, posts, images, and discussions that the internet can find.

I absolutely love it.

From what I've seen, a lot of the hate on Tumblr is because of people generalizing a huge, diverse community based on the actions of one relatively small, negative group that is known for being in the community.

It seems like every other day I find someone referring to all of Tumblr being one of those hypocritical social justice warriors (the bad kind, not all of them are).

I think you answered quite a bit of your questions.

I left Tumblr a while back because I felt like a large segment of people seem to do the following:

  • Not fact checking and end up taking opinions as truth.
  • NSFW content getting through filters and blogged rather casually.
  • Anonymous messages of death threats directed towards those with opinions.
  • The lack of copyright rules on reblogs, videos (I had someone claim one of my songs as their own)
  • Using the internet to spew hate and venting instead of sharing rational, intellectual thought. See SJW on google for more details.

I've left Tumblr awhile back and I felt I made the right decision. Tumblr promotes a rather uncomfortable atmosphere of blame, victimizing and a large amount of childish behavior that I simply got tired of. I feel like this is caused by teens who spend way too much time on the internet, and their minds aren't fully developed to make a rational, collected decision (I once was acting like a kid, but only as a kid). It's just unhealthy for the mind to have to hear the things I've mentioned above. Environmental factors play a big role in development of your life! At least on Twitter messages are not anonymous and MLP forums there is a stronger advocacy of rational opinions and a lack of tolerance for NSFW content.

There's just better social networks out there. That's all.

Unfortunately I had to pick the 3rd option. Isn't it a website where you scroll down and view content?

Edit: On second thought, I guess you can say that for nearly every website in existence...

Tumblr is an amazing and fun place to be as long as you stay away from the crazies.

There's a lot of crap going down in the Attack On Titan fandon around there, but if you avoid fandoms it can be fun.

Non-anime blogs can be boring.

I personally use it to look at cute anime girls and discuss new episodes.

Yes I've definitely heard these things about Tumblr. Although I've never experienced it first hand.

I suppose it's about where you go on Tumblr because I've never encountered many of these things, which is probably why the place doesn't bother me as much as it does other people.

I use it more casually than frequently. Like to look at anime/cosplay blogs mostly.

I love tumblr because it was the best and easiest way to advertise my films http://cripvideoproductions.tumblr.com   I found other blog sites to be way over complicated. I loved that I could make multiple blogs with the same account.

And the MLP and L&S fandom's are super active there. I even help to run the new Save Lilo & Stitch tumblr here  http://saveliloandstitch.tumblr.com  (anybody here who is a tumblr lover can feel free to follow these blogs!)

Of course tumblr has flaws, I think it has way too many pictures/nonsense and the political posts can get nasty. I just avoid the nude pics and porn but I agree that it is gross. I don't like that it is so hard to figure out how to reply to someone and I hate that I can't comment without re-blogging the entire thing is most cases.
