Just saw the episode and GREAT GALAXIES it was fan FREAKING TASTIC!!!

 

Great writing by Meghan McCarthy.

 

2 great songs from Daniel Ingram (And lyrics written by Meghan)

 

Fun to hear Rebecca Soichet sing as Twilight again besides Nicole Oliver sing as Princess Celestia.

AND YES YES YES Britt McKillip sung as Princess Cadence!

Hope to to the heavens she sings again in season 5!!

Who woulda thunk Kazumi Evans as Luna's Siging voice.

I was like WOW!

 

But man Tirek is one mean creature.

That was one heck of a fight scene with Twilight.

 

And kudos to John DeLancie as Discord.

I was like in part 2 and poor Fluttershy going

Aww poor Flutters.

 

The keys are revealed and it was amazing.

 

Twilight found her purpose as a princess.

Took the whole season but well worth the wait.

 

Again the S4 Finale is AWSOME on So many levels.

Thank you for this episode topic. It seems like great Lord Tirek have steal all ponies' magic to grow stronger. At the end, Princess Twilight Sparkle and the mane six have her new home after they've stopped great Lord Tirek.

I thought Discord was more reformed than he was, and that he was just rusing Tirek. I had it in my head that his intentions were good, but that he wasn't averse to pragmatic, or otherwise convoluted/trollsy/discordy ways of getting there.

 

But then he actually betrayed the ponies outright, and that makes me a sad panda. I guess I had him figured for more of a Jack Sparrow type.

I don't know why, but I felt he wasn't sure of his decision (betraying the ponies).

Yeah .. out of character. It really did. Even for Discord.

 

I mean, to me, his *thing* is chaos, right? Which isn't synonymous to me necessarily with dishonesty or disloyalty. (idk, maybe it technically is, since chaos implies capriciousness and a hard time sticking to values, but it made him way less likeable no matter how you look at it)

I´m dissapointed. There was to much action for me.

It feels like they mix Mlp with Dragonball.

 

But enought complaining.

The story is good and that discord turning back to evil is also a good story twist. And the new 2 songs are great.

 

I vote 3/5.

To be fair to the mane 6 Megan was the G1 series ultimate deus ex machina making her a bit of a Mary Sue and the G1 ponies sort of relied on her for pretty much everything. As much as I like the G1 Tirek G4 Tirek makes him seem like a newborn foal.

Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria and starts writing friendship letters to the Mane 6, and has zany adventures with the Cutie Mark Crusaders.  Search your feelings, you know it's what we all want.

I would love to see SS+Trixie+the CMC (and derpy) go around learning about life, love, and loss. As there is not much more you can do with the mane 6 now. Twilight is now a "real" princess, and even has the castle to prove it, and the ending tag of "going around and spreading friendship" really felt like a series finale. Like they had reached the apex of development with the mane 6, and now they were going to move on outside equestria.

It really makes me dislike Discord. He was even more likeable pre-reform. At least then, he was clever and didn't really directly harm the ponies, he just made everything crazy with chaos. Then he reformed and already learned the lesson that "friendship is magic". There's no need for him to have to learn that again. So when presented with an opportunity to enslave the entire pony race, he actually accepts it. Why would he do this? It doesn't make any sense.

 

And he didn't even regret his decision until after he himself was betrayed and had all his power removed. He was fully willing to go through with the plan before that, even after locking the Mane 6 up in a cage and seeing Fluttershy cry...

 

They really dropped the ball on that one

I loved it, one word epic. The fighting scene gave me goosebumps. Kind of disappointed in Discord, he was awesome as always but since he's a trickster I thought he had a plan up his sleeve the whole time. Though he was the reason Twilight got the key or a part of it. Otherwise Discord was great. Twilight's wave and smile was adorable.

 

Also, even though they showed Cerberus only guarding Tirek I wonder what more could have gotten out of the Gates of Tartarus. Anyway this was a great episode, two of my favorites. The fighting scene between Twilight and Tirek was epic.

I did like the episode overall.  Though if Tirek somehow knew about Cadance, how would he not have heard of Twilight, who is a new princess.  I'd have understood if he knew of her but had no idea where she was, but was looking for her.  it's not like Twilight became princess and Celestia said to keep it a secret and asked her to hide her wings.

 

As for Discord I never really thought he had reformed and I wasn't surprised when he betrayed everyone to team up with Tirek.

Amazing season finale. I actually liked the idea of Discord playing a villainous role again, even if it was kinda strange to watch at times thanks to me being used to him being reformed. Fight scene, like everyone else already said, rocked, and I also thought the ending was pretty cool. I'd gladly re-watch this special, and this entire season for that matter, any time.
