How conquerable do you think Equestria would be ?

Tirek has been the only villain that tried to actually do a full on world conquest campaign of Equestria.

Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra, they were thinking too small, just trying to capture Canterlot?  Only going for a single city state like the Crystal Empire?

And Discord ..... well can't really tell how far his chaos spread in previous years, he was never the conquering type anyways.

So how difficult do you think it would be to conquer Equestria? and what difficulties do you think a conquering type villain would face if they would have a go at the conquest campaign of Equestria?  What defense could the ponies muster?

And do you think this scenario would even occur in S5 for a new villain?

Very conquerable. Just nuke the place.

That's not really conquering, more like destroying.

All you need is a legion of death robots with magic-suppression field projectors, and it's easy.

Oh, look what I have. BRB, just going to conquer Equestria.

it is very conquerable but only if the villain can get past the elements of harmony it seems (understand that i am very new to the fandom and have only seen 12 episodes as i only watched at first to see what the hype was so anything i say should be looked at from the perspective of a new fan

Or just divide and conquer. If they are not united they become fragile.

Point A) The Royal Guard, the ONLY military organization we've seen unless you count the Wonderbolts as military, have never actually done anything competently. They get knocked aside and beaten in every possible situation.

Point B) Celestia is apparently not hard to defeat. Queen Chrysalis could do it with the power of the love of one whole pony. With the power of a bunch of commoners, Tirek could take on Celestia, Luna, and Cadence at once.

So Imma say not that hard.

It doesn't look that hard, but the unicorns and alicorns seem to be the best fighters of Equestria. With their magic they might resist against the enemies quite well.

Just look at Twilight during the season finale. :P

If you were going to be violent about it, which i suppose someone who wanted to conquer a land ruled by ponies would be, pretty easy with our human weapons.

Without weapons, we wouldn't stand a chance.  They have magic, dragons, other dangerous beasts, unicorns could probably stab us, horses can do some serious damage with just a kick, etc.

i personly think the hardest thing to do to take over is getting rid of the earth ponies with their strenght and their sheer will they will not stop and will keep marching forward

There'd be a spear behind every blade of grass.

Seriously though, even disregarding what a pissed of alicorn could do, any invading force would need air combat capabilities, anti magic AND be impervious to weather effects.

So no, without making the invaders incredible OP, I don't see it happening.

All the Ponies need is one Pony to be a military strategist and they win, without Discord, Alicorns, other Bations, or Elements of Harmony.

1/3 have flight

1/3 have telekinesis

The strategic and tactical options are endless.

The gate is down people!

I think Equestria is pretty well fortified :D I mean, The Royal Guard, the Elements of Harmony, the Royal Sisters, reformed Discord...

Equestria is OP :D

@@Jeric,

That's really nice...except that they shat themselves at the sight of a glorified pile of sticks(Timberwolves) and an overgrown lizard who can't even breathe fire(Basil)

The Royal Guard

These Royal Guards?

150011.png?1386103918

the Elements of Harmony

Don't even use them anymore

the Royal Sisters,

The ones who got taken down by vines?

reformed Discord...

The same one who was fooled in an instant and tricked?

OT: Equestria's tactical intelligence is abysmal and even raw power wise, Discord is too stupid and egotistical, the princesses are too weak. For them to win, they'd have to use their fusion schtick on Twilight again. Even so, Twilight still needs to breathe, gases can take her

Discord could have been able to conquer Equestria if he wanted. His magic works indirectly meaning that any opponent, unless they're insanely more powerful, can't harm him. Discord could terraform the environment, change the law of physics, use confusion/distractions, teleport others away or keeping his opponents off-balance so they can't fight back. It's clear that even the three/four princesses together would have an almost impossible task to defeat Discord without the elements.

Outside that, Equestria seems like a balanced and well-defended nation. In a "normal" scenario they can unite their airforce, ground force and ranged forces (magic) together. They have strong and popular leaders, and in the worst case scenario you would have to face the unity of the princesses if you want any chance to hold on to Equestria.

If you want to conquer Equestria, you'll need a strong army, powerful allies/friends who preferably are strong magic users, have some immunity to magic and of course being very powerful yourself. Any conventional means of warfare wouldn't be sufficient.

If you can defeat the princesses, I do think most of Equestria would fall.

- A first surprise attack should be launched against Cloudsdale/Pegasus air bases to neutralize most of Equestria's airforces.

- Then the invading army should split up into two main units and march into Equestria, supported by airpower and ranged attacks. Smaller specialized units should attack strategic locations deeper into Equestria.

- A fullscale attack on Canterlot would be suicide IMO, the best you can do is protect your army, overwhelm your enemies and wait until the princess/main unicorn force comes to you. If there's a way to establish anti-magic zones in the conquered area's or even beyond than that would be perfect and allow the invader to focus his forces on other more pressing objectives.

@@JH24,

TBH, the best way to take down Equestria would be subversively. Poisons and assassins to take out the heavy hitters like the alicorns and Discord, then brawl them out while confused

You make a very good point, and I had forgotten about Discord. As long as he's allied with Equestria, every invasion is likely doomed to fail. Your idea for subversion is definitely better. And even if only Discord can be neutralized/weakened the invading force would stand a better chance because alicorns use more conventional magic, in contrast to Discord's unpredictable, chaotic magic.

As for the princesses, their threat level could be reduced if (provided Discord is out of the picture) they're separated and you can fight each one on their own. (Maybe even lock them in different dimensions) Still a very difficult task, but more manageable.

It seems simple enough. The guards are useless, and the ponies don't seem to fight back. Rainbow Power would be an absolute pain to fight against though. I mean, it was strong enough to take down Tirek with his stolen magic. (Alicorn, Discord, Earth pony, Unicorn, and Earth Pony.)

Rainbow power could kick the flank of any wannabe conquerer. That, and the princesses AND Discord. Good luck to anyone who wants to try.

Well seeing as how Chrysalis successfully conquered Canterlot, fair and square by the way, until a plot device propelled her into the sky. So Equestria is easy to take over.

Ehhhh, fair and square is stretching it. She used underhanded tactics to get in and then juiced herself up to fight Celestia. It's a legit win, but it was done mostly by cheating
