How much is my life worth living to me? Not much in a situation like this. If someone just came up and offered to give another year on my life in exchange for something, I'd be very suspicious of their ulterior motives-especially if they possess supernatural powers like that-then they would probably find a way to screw me over through some kind of loophole. Even if that weren't the case, the constant pain and agony of some incurable illness isn't really the kind of thing I'd want to be stuck with and prefer it if the said individual could just cure the disease instead if they had that kind of power-with an attorney present, of course.

movies/tv Anyone else a fan of SWAT Kats?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to ShadOBabe's topic in Media Discussion
Yeah, sadly I didn't even know of the show's existence until they started playing reruns on Boomerang and was disappointed to find that the show only had two seasons. Which is a shame because it reminded me of both Sonic the Hedgehog and Batman the Animated Series. -
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Favorite Ocarina Song?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to _Kurtis's topic in Media Discussion
Sariah's Song is one that I've always enjoyed listening to, plus it was pretty entertaining watching Darunia dance to it. -
Personally, I would have to say that it's a tie between three episodes; The Mysterious Mare Do-Well, with the Mane Six's hypocrisy in praising themselves for their own accomplishments-rather than each others' and rubbing it in Dash's face, disregarding the lives she did save earlier in the episode before she got a bloated ego, while showing her extremely depressed in the same episode made the act come across as more vicious than what was probably initially intended (at least, I hope that was the case.) Putting Your Hoof Down had New Fluttershy, which went way overboard in telling Pinkie and Rarity that their lives were meaningless because nobody else cared about their interests, reducing them to running off in tears was pretty brutal. Filli Vanilli, regardless of what was intended by the writer came off as either unintelligent or purposefully mean-spirited by Pinkie, given that she enjoys making others happy, yet she fails to realize she has done anything wrong when she reduces Fluttershy to tears and seems to be baffled by the fact the others are angry at her for her insensitive comments or was possibly trying to get back at Fluttershy for the aforementioned episode. Either way, it came off as pretty jarring to see Pinkie, especially after her lesson from Pinkie Pride.

The growth spurt from "Secret of My Excess" seems to imply that dragons can't physically age without being greedy jerks, so growing up in that regard seems unlikely in the show's run, until maybe the very end. Though, that's par for the course in children's cartoons. As a character he has shown great moments of maturity in certain episodes, however.

Well, she's friends with a bear, has been shown to feed fish to one of her animal friends in one scene of an episode and worms to a nest full of baby birds in another. So, the concept itself probably wouldn't bother her too much. For people who eat horse meat, she would probably understandably be concerned, though.

No, I don't think I'm physically capable of it to be honest. Whenever I get embarassed, my face just gets really hot and sweaty, but never turns red.

I would say yes. Twilight's special talent is magic, but she is an avid scholar and loves reading as well as being a librarian (formerly). Rainbow Dash discovered a love for reading the Darin Do books as a hobby that doesn't involve athletic activity. Fluttershy has shown to have skill with knitting as mentioned in the first Rarity episode with Hoity Toity (the episode title eludes me at the moment). Both Applejack and Pinkie Pie have been shown to have great culinary skills outside of their respective talents. Now, they may not necessarily be as adept at those hobbies as they are with the talent their Cutie Mark represents, but it seems like they can, and do have them.

Any ships you simply don't care for in this fandom?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Slice0Pie's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Not a fan of the Mane Six being in romantic relationships in general-minor characters like the Cakes, Shining and Cadance, or Cranky and Matilda don't bother me though, with that said-there are four that really don't have me invested. Soarin x Rainbow Dash. He has little to no character-which, give me no real investment in any kind of romantic relationship he may have. His first appearance wasn't exactly endearing to me either, given the fact his voice makes him sound stupid and given his only character trait outside of being a Wonderbolt being his obsession with pies. So, it's kind of hard not for me to see him like that, the fact that he instantly forgave Spitfire and Flootfoot in Rainbow Falls also made him come off as a push-over, which seems like something that would annoy Dash more than anything, given how frustrated she has shown to be with Fluttershy at times, despite their friendship. Flash Sentry x Twilight The problem with inter-dimensional romance is that for it to blossom into something more serious to the point of tying the knot and settling down, human Flash would have to leave his world, friends, and family to go to Equestria or Twilight would have to do the same to go to the human world-and then there is the issue of their doppelgangers and the problems that those could create with ruining the balance between worlds that Celestia was so concerned about in the first Equestria Girls. Not to mention moving on to human Twilight for Flash or pony Flash for Twilight would probably come off as insulting to the other party as they wouldn't be dating their own versions of each other because they like them, just the idea of them that was first introduced to them-they have no idea how similar or different they might be in their respective universes. The thought of just being a replacement solely to fill a void left by someone else, while not even really knowing the other person just comes off as really selfish to me. Discord x Fluttershy Their friendship doesn't bother me in the slightest, but romance? I don't buy it, I think the only reason he squeed when talking about Fluttershy to Tirek was because he has a lot of respect for her because she is the first person to ever want to be his friends and spend prolonged periods of time with of her own free will without wanting to cause him bodily harm, actually showing compassion to him-which can be platonic, and genuinely try to help him when he became sick, whereas the others have little tolerance for his affinity for being an obnoxious jerk purely for his own amusement. In eons, this is the only individual who enjoyed being around him, so it makes a lot of sense for him to value her as a friend, but as far as romance goes, I think people are reading WAY too much into things (though, admittedly that seems to be the basis for shipping). 'Prince' Sombra x Celestia The contradictary writing for the plot of the material that presented the shipping aside, it feels very forced as the character of Prince Sombra is perfect in so many ways that he even gets Fluttershy who has never shown any interest in romance previously to drool over him, Celestia lying to everyone to preserve said relationship, ditching her royal duties to go visit her waifu without notifying anyone on the castle staff and causing widespread panic among them, potentially causing the end of two universes, and never learning from the selfishness of mistakes she made in the past or even really caring about the consequences most of the time until they finally catch up with her, despite claiming it was just her younger self that was stupid and reckless while enacting the exact same behavior because she believe that the ends justify the means as long as they are together. In short, said romance only made her a worse individual. -
Well, my interest has declined significantly these past two seasons, since I first started watching the show, but I still stick around out of curiosity to see how things develop. 'Killing off' a favorite character or having them leave the show-even in a family friendly manner will definitely make me stop watching permanently. Personal preference for the Mane Six member in question aside, that seems incredibly counterproductive to something that more or less rides on these characters personalities and interactions with each other each season and that would definitely make the dynamic between characters feel lackluster.

Becoming a writer. Not necessarily a best-selling novelist or making a lot of money from it, but good enough to do what I enjoy and making a decent living for it.

Most mysterious character on the show?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to TheMisterManGuy's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I would have to say Zecora because aside from her debut appearance, we have been given very little information on who she is, why she came to Ponyville, if she has any family, what Zebra culture as a whole is like or why she would choose to settle in a dark, dangerous place like the Everfree Forest.- 35 replies

Your opinion of Skylanders?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to The Shadow Stallion's topic in Media Discussion
Indifferent, my youngest brother used to love the series because Spyro was in it and I tried it out, but I couldn't really get into it. I see the appeal though, and I thought it was awesome that they had Richard Steven Horvitz from Invader Zim as the voice of Kaos. -

Diamond Tiara is easily my least favorite given her personality and lack of any redeeming qualities, when she realized that she couldn't hurt the Cutie Mark Crusaders emotionally with her usual 'Blank Flank' taunts in "Flight to the Finish" she went right for Scootaloo's disability and mocked the fact that she was a Pegasus who couldn't fly, blackmailed the Crusaders to continue spreading malicious rumors in "Ponyville Confidential" to achieve her own ends and her line; "I don't care about feelings." in the episode seems to imply that she is intended to be a sociopath by the writers. Trixie is someone I felt sorry for in her first appearance because boasting and sleights of hand are kind of essential when it comes to being a magician, not too mention that Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash were all quite hypocritical and seemed kind of well, dumb for not realizing that and the fact that she drops the third person act around the time the Ursa showed up seemed to imply that her boastful nature was just a stage persona at the time and the fact that she actually tried to stop it, rather than running away when she knew that she had no chance of stopping it. But then, she became overexposed on sites like Equestria Daily where she began to show up to an obnoxious degree and despite the fact that she was possessed in "Magic Duel", she still knowingly and willfully sought out a dangerous dark magical artifact, despite being warned by the shopkeeper of the danger all for the sake of revenge. Gilda was a jerk and a thief, yes-but, given the fact that Griffons in mythology had....issues with horses-I don't think she was that bad. She was a good friend of Rainbow Dash's and Pinkie Pie did constantly get in the way, could she have been less of a jerk about it? Of course. Earlier in the episode we also how annoyed Rainbow Dash is by Pinkie's obnoxiousness before Gilda shows up and she learns of their shared interest in pranks, the name Junior Speedster's Flight Camp also implies that it was for kids. If I was visiting an old friend I hadn't seen in a long time to catch up with them and hang out with someone constantly trying to butt in, I would get pretty agitated too. Again, that doesn't excuse her viciousness or any of her other actions, but I can at least see where she was coming from in her hostility towards Pinkie.

Is negativity on the news really necessary?
Ianpiersonjdavis replied to Sugar Pea's topic in General Discussion
That's why I prefer to avoid the news at all if I can help it, all the stress it causes me really doesn't help, especially when it comes to things that I can't possible affect or have any sort of control over-especially when they have a tendency to over-exaggerate things. As much as its important to let people know about how much the world sucks, it would be nice if they could balance out all the doom and gloom with a bit more positive things that have been happening, but of course people won't follow the news more for updates as much if that happened. So, personally it's gotten to the point where I feel like I've really become too jaded to care about anything that's reported. -
