  1. Well, I do. She was promoted and praised by Spitfire for pushing herself, yet Spitfire immediately tears off her badge and kicks her out of the academy for doing exactly what she was promoted for. Spitfire didn't even care about any of this until Dash chewed her out and threatened to leave before punishing Lightning Dust. And in the original ending, Lightning realizes her mistake, admits that she was out of control and was simply demoted instead of kicked out-but, it had to be cut for time constraints leading to the ending we got where she comes across as a complete sociopath.
  2. Definitely Rainbow Dash. I liked Spitfire up until "Rainbow Falls" and now I hate her along with the rest of the Wonderbolts for stabbing her teammate in the back and lying to both him and Dash. Granted, Spitfire does seem the better flier though as has been shown to easily beat Dash at the Equestria Games. But, her personality really bugs me.
  3. Well... The fact that her element is Loyalty had a lot to do with it for me and the fact that she stood up for Pinkie when she realized what a jerk Gila is being-since I've had a lot of 'friends' stab me in the back. Her sometimes tomboyish nature is also very endearing to me and helped ease me into the show when my friend asked me to check it out. I also like her voice. And she accomplished the impressive feat of creating a Sonic Rainboom, while saving a falling Rarity and three unconscious Wonderbolts. There are parts of her personality I identify with, like her deep insecurity about herself and what others think about her in several episodes-including "Read It and Weep" which pretty much mirrored my friend getting me into the show and my fear of judgment if I admitted to anyone I actually enjoyed it and the problems it could cause if word had ever gotten out. And then there's the fact that she called out The Wonderbolts (her idols) on being jerks in two episodes and was willing to help out and mentor Scootaloo by taking on an adoptive big-sister role as well as supporting her when she was feeling down on not being able to fly as well as other Pegasi her age. Of course, she's not perfect-I personally believe that no decently written character is-she has shown that she can be a jerk or oblivious at times. But, she has also shown a capacity to learn to try and accept new things (like reading novels) and admit her mistakes (and there are admittedly, quite a few).
  4. "The getting over crushes" point that's been brought up feels like it has a lot of merit considering Rarity has had a crush on at least two stallions-Blueblood and Trenderhoof, respectively-and gradually came to realize that things would not work out between them or that she was pursuing an idealized version of the guy she wanted to start a relationship with. Maybe these experiences have taught her that Spike might one day grow out of his schoolboy crush and realize it would not work out instead of blatantly stating it to him, devastating him, and risk ruining their friendship? Besides, while she may do this occasionally they are things he wants to do and it's not like she's manipulating him with false pretenses by saying things like; "If you do this for me, I'll go out with you" or saying things lie; "Why aren't you doing so and so-don't you love me?"
  5. It's interesting that Discord seems to be immune to this, though...
  6. Dear Princess Celestia, 'Touch the Stove!' isn't as fun a game as I thought it would be... Sincerely, Ianpiersonjdavis
  7. I agree with pretty much everything M'iaq said and I have no problem laughing at darker humor when it's handled competently by a writer. Some of the themes explored may also have been more mature considering Cartoon Network has become more risque with shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show as well as more intense action sequences. With those variables, I have to say it could be a little better or a little worse from what I enjoy about the show-but, as long as the central themes stayed the same I'd probably enjoy it, regardless.
  8. In "Hearth's Warming Eve" the racism angle was played straight, but that was for the feuding tribes that founded Equestria to later learn a lesson about friendship and band together after learning they work better using their own unique talents to help each other. "Bridle Gossip" was less about racism and more about not judging things or people based upon first appearances, and that was misinterpreted for various reasons. "Over A Barrel" as someone pointed out earlier, seemed like an attempt at a western-style episode that also probably could have been executed better. I've seen a similar accusation leveled at Applejack for "The Cutie Pox" when Applebloom's multiple talents are going out of control, Zecora shows up and AJ asks; "Was your Zebra sense a-tinglin'?" Or people mishearing the lyrics of "Raise this Barn" as something offensive. My point is, while these can be misinterpreted the main point of the show is an emphasis on friendship, tolerance, and acceptance-so I find it highly unlikely that any of these were intentionally put in as an elaborate scheme to brainwash children to become ignorant and bigoted. Now, if the writers for any of the aforementioned episodes turned out to be huge racists then these accusations might have some merit to them-but, as it stands this is all just interpretation and speculation.
  9. I like her because I see her as a sympathetic character whose work and accomplishment were always being overlooked by everyone in favor of her big sister. And then when she snaps she gets punished for it for a thousand years, returns and even after being purified by the Elements, everyone not only fears and hates her, but there is an entire holiday centered around what a monster she was. Despite all of this, she still goes out of her way to help those who demonized her. (Plus, I'm kind of a sucker for redemption stories.)
  10. Actually, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. -For Winter there is just 'Hearth's Warming Eve' and 'Winter Wrap-Up' -For Autumn there is just 'Fall Weather Friends' and maybe 'Luna Eclipsed' (I'm not sure if that holiday in Equestria is in the same season as we have Halloween or not...) And I have no idea when 'Bats!' is supposed to take place.
  11. Well, if Tirek wanted he could easily have killed ponies in addition to taking their magic and I'm not sure if Discord would have even tried to stop him. Plus, as someone who has been stabbed in the back by people I've thought were my friends only to forgive them and have it happen again...it will take some time for me to regain any faith in him. His "Hey! Where is my throne!?" line also rubbed me the wrong way after all the damage he caused by helping Tirek.
  12. I was referring to him throwing a large fireball at the library while Twilight was in it.
  13. Rainbow Dash, unlike Spitfire she wouldn't betray a member of her team for short-term benefits and has shown that she knows when not to be too reckless and value her allies, but she's not afraid to be brutal when the situation calls for it. Shining Armor is a close second.
  14. Not to mention Tirek has been shown to be extremely racist against equines, so he'd probably want to turn them into slaves or kill them. And based on what I've seen from Discord, as insufferable as he can be with his antics-he has never actually tried to kill anyone before (unlike Tirek)-so he may have a bit of an issue with that, there is also the fact that while Discord joined Tirek his chaotic nature never reached the point it was before he was first turned to stone. So, he might take issue with a homicidal tyrant trying to destroy his playthings and that could lead to a falling out as a serious conflict of interest.
  15. Well she sang in quite a few episodes, but the fact she has never had a solo number is quite a mystery...still, Meghan said she should get a solo song this Season.
  16. When Tirek escaped from Tartarus, I couldn't help but notice that the Changeling's were exempt from his magic-draining rampage. Is there a reason for that?
  17. How would you feel if instead of just having drained the magic of all the ponies, Tirek decided that keeping them around would be a waste and just disposed of them? Not just random ponies, but the Princesses, Shining Armor, and Twilight's friends-did you have a plan for that?
  18. -Twilight x Rainbow Dash -Firefly x Rainbow Dash (in the case of 'Dash Academy') -Celestia x Discord -Spitfire x Soarin -Time Turner x Derpy -Cadance x Shining Armor -Sunset Shimmer x Shining Armor -Rainbow Dash x Shining Armor -Queen Chrysalis x Shining Armor -Miss Peachbottom x Shining Armor -Sunset Shimmer x Flash Sentry -Vinyl x Octavia -Fancy Pants x Fleur -Spike x Rarity
  19. After 1000 years, I'm pretty sure Celestia has far more experience and wisdom-not to mention the power to control the sun itself. Besides, in the show she's really nice-so I'd feel really bad about disappointing her.
  20. I don't have one yet, but one of my life goals is to someday get a red 1958 Plymouth Fury...I shall name her Christine.
  21. For me it was easily this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlS4CK4D1FM After 'Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000' and 'Filli Vanilli' (her climbing up the wall like a spider while tormenting Fluttershy disturbed me a great deal, too) but, this scene convinced me that Pinkie Pie is a sociopath by the fact she is threatening the kid like it's no big deal.
  22. My friend who introduced me to the show told me to watch the premiere so I understood what was going on and then left me to look up whatever episode I thought looked interesting next on his laptop.
  23. As long as it's not Somblestia from the comics-I am happy.
  24. Being a school bully, doesn't always make one universally hated as in some cases (Nelson, Binky Barnes) they are shown to have more characterization than just 'someone whose a jerk to others' with more depth added. Diamond Tiara is a bully who finds a weakness and mercilessly exploits it, be it the lack of a Cutie Mark (Blank Flank!) or a physical disability (a Pegasus who can't even FLY!). There is also 'Family Appreciation Day' where she goes out of her way to humiliate Applebloom by trying to get Granny Smith to show up and attempting to make fun of her for her odd ways. In 'Ponyville Confidential' she only wants to write cruel gossip at the expense at others (which granted, ALL media does), but then she has Featherweight actually stalk, peep at, and photograph all of the CMC so she could blackmail them later. Again, there doesn't seem to be any real rhyme or reason for her jerkiness other than she's rich and therefore automatically elitist (which I hope not as that's FAR too shallow a reason), her father spoils her because he feels guilty that she doesn't have a mother (or some other reason) or the fanon reason I've heard; she feels inadequate about her own destiny and what it's supposed to mean. Unfortunately, the show has made no attempts to shed some more light on why she pursues such negative behavior-so she's hard to understand, much less sympathize with and that can alienate people from ANY character.
  25. Well, the did obliterate Sombra (though, he totally had it coming.) And at this point, I wouldn't put anything past Pinkie Pie after "Filli Vanilli" and threatening the life of a filly in "Trade Ya!" before laughing about it. So, 'Dark'.
